Peaceful, beautiful, comfortable, generously appointed. Beds great, furniture comfortable. All we could ask was available. The river, Osprey, beaver, geese, ducks wonderful respite. Thank you, eager to come here again.
We had four generations staying at Mark & Lori's property, from an 83 year-old to a 1 year-old. We had a wonderful experience. There was something for everyone. We had to watch ourselves walking on the path to the house; it could be slippery in the rain. We also had to keep an eye on the 1 year-old and the stairs inside the house. But these were minor inconveniences. We enjoyed family and the beauty of God's creation. We would return in a heartbeat. Thank you, Mark & Lori!
The view alone makes this place an oasis to get away. We watched Osprey feed their young in the nest across the river, saw bald eagles, and fish jump. Peaceful and quiet. Relaxing in the hot tub every night was an added bonus. The owners checked in periodically with us to make sure we were well taken care of:)
We had a wonderful time in this beautiful home. The river was just outside the window, so beautiful. I loved the cozy cabin look to it. The logs in the bedrooms were lovely, as was the different levels to the layout. It was a great place to spend with extended family at Christmas time. Thanks
The owners were great with responses and advice. The house was comfortable and clean. If you are unstable on your feet, getting to and from the carport could be tricky as the stairs are uneven, but our party did not have that issue. I woke up every morning to the sight and sound of the river and the view was beautiful from the deck. Cooking was a bit of a challenge as the pans are VERY OLD and my husband actually flattened one of them out on a rock because it was rounded at the bottom and wouldn’t set right. . A few new ones would do the trick. The jacuzzi was warmed up and ready to go and we made use of the fireplace! We easily fit 4 adults and 4 teens and all had a great time doing some beautiful hikes in Silver Falls (30 minutes away) and to the Blue Pool (1.5 hrs away). Plenty of wineries to choose from as well!
We didn’t want to leave! The house was perfect for us to relax and recharge beautiful spot by the river. Nice kitchen for cooking. All eight of us women had a memorable time. The owners very attentive, overall a wonderful experience
If you want to relax in the beauty of nature without roughing it, this is the spot. The house is clean & sits just above the river. Whether taking your morning coffee on the deck or leaving the window open at night, the river works it’s magic to relax the soul.
The path down to the river is easy to navigate, but beware that the river is swift, cold & not a place for kids to play. We took our young children to nearby parks & easily found calmer water for them.
My only regret with this property is the tap water. The owner has a water cooler and was generous in providing drinking water, however, the water is so mineral heavy all the dishes feel gritty. This was hard for me to ignore as the utensils & dishes looked chalky after washing & I felt like I could taste it when eating.
I’m still happy with this rental. The property manager will respond to calls in a short time and was kind and helpful.

Hello Susan. Sorry about the water issue. The mineral content of well water in this area is very high and it can be a little worse this time of year as water tables get lower. For that reason we have installed a water treatment system and a 1400 gallon holding tank in the garage. For some reason the filter system had been (mistakenly) by-passed/shut-off and that's why the water was so hard for you guys. I wish I would have known while you were there. The problem is fixed now. We do always provide unlimited Sierra Springs bottled water in the Water Cooler and we have the Reverse Osmosis Filter System for drinking water at the sink. The good news is that the high mineral content in the water is perfectly safe and actually very good for your skin. It just tastes funny and can make a hard water film on the dishes and fixtures.
Thank you for letting us know about the issue and thanks again for staying at The RiverHaus, and..........................
Enjoy The Day!

I cant say enough about how we love this home. I tried to describe it to a friend, the overall peaceful feeling of this property will make you happy. I'd love to live here permanently! :-)
We were coming to the area for our daughter's wedding and wanted a place to be with family and get some quiet time during the wonderful weekend long celebration. The house was perfect for us and the river soothing. Mark made everything go very smoothly.
Our group of 6 ladies loved our weekend at the Riverhaus. The setting was so beautiful. My favorite part was sipping coffee on the patio while watching the river--we even saw a bald eagle and nest across the river! Hot tub was also awesome. Can't wait to return!

Cozy country cabin
We enjoyed staying at the Santiago RiverHaus. The owner Mark was responsive and easy to work with. The porch is the best part of the house overlooking the beautiful river. The hot tub was enjoyed on the cool evenings and was warm upon arrival. It was especially appreciated after several hikes in the area. The kitchen is well stocked and easy to cook in. There was some perishable food left in the fridge (opened lettuce, cut onion, opened cheese which I thought was not typical of items left for the next users.) We did not use the outdoor grill. The beds were comfy (after shooing a spider out from one of them). I only gave this 3 stars as some updating is needed. There were many light bulbs burnt out with no replacements available. The pool table is so uneven that all the balls go to the center pocket on the break. The toilet in the first bathroom should be replaced as it doesn’t flush without extra care. Lastly, the shower handles are also in need of repair in both baths. You had to really work to get the handles to turn, they almost felt locked up or somehow stripped. Overall, a nice property once a few updates are done.

Great place to temporarily call home
Seven of us stayed comfortably for nearly a week while visiting friends and family in the area. Mark and Lori made sure the house had everything we would need to enjoy our stay. Their lovely home right on the Santiam River gave us a perfect place to relax and recharge the batteries at night as we stayed busy during the days driving from place to place enjoying just a small taste of the beautiful scenery Oregon has to offer. The March weather cooperated, allowing us to sit on the back deck, sip a hot chocolate, and listen to the river below. We saw Multnomah Falls, drove around Mt Hood, visited the coast and Sea Lion Caves, ventured into parts of the Willamette Forest, and saw some of Silver Falls State Park - all of which were breathtaking - and the drives to and from were just as stunning. We can't wait to get back out that way and would definitely choose the RiverHaus when that time comes.

Wonderful house!
This was a great girls weekend spent by the river. It was raining (as expected) so we didn’t go down by the water but it was really better sitting on the huge patio (under cover) wrapped in cozy blankets drinking mimosas and catching up. We even watched a osprey scouting out a good nesting spot. The house had everything we needed and was perfect! The huge fireplace was so nice to sit by. Mark and Lori were very quick to respond to my questions. I would just caution people about walking down the stairs in the rain as it was a bit slippery but the owners gave us plenty of warning about it ahead of time. Looking forward to renting again! Thank you!!

Great for any kind of vacation
We had an amazing time. The pictures honestly don't do the house justice. I had a lot of questions and some last minute changes and the owners were so fantastic and accommodating. They happened to be out of town during our stay and they still called to answer a question i had and touch base with me. Great experience overall!

Great location, beautiful house and great hosts!
My family and I (8 guests) spent a day here and had a lovely time. The house was very clean and spacious. But the best part about it was the awesome balcony which is almost on top of the river. The living room and dining area glass walls provide a view that is just breathtaking in the morning. The host was very quick to respond and very accommodating of all our needs. I would recommend it to anyone that wants to spend a few days relaxing surrounded by nature.

Beautiful, peaceful property
Us 5 adults had a wonderful stay at this home. It is beautiful, great place for a river retreat. We spent a day on the banks of the river watching tubers and kayakers float by. Plenty of room for all of us. Home is up a steep embankment so you were looking at the tops of the trees- so cool! Well maintained stairs down to river. Owner was SUPER helpful and communicative. We cant wait to come back next year!

Total relaxation - Perfect location
We loved our three day stay at riverhaus! The location is right next to north Santiam park and easy access to the north fork trails and waterfalls. We did the seven mile trek to Opal falls and found slide rock falls on the way back for a fun slide and dip in the river. We had most our meals in since the location of the house over loiking the river offers the best dining ambiance. Mark kept us informed when we had questions and we had several. The gorgeous stone walkway from the carport leads you to the front door. The trek down to the river is a bit challenging when you have stuff to carry but we put our double camp chair right in the water in front of the aderodack chairs with feet up on a rock and watched the floaters go by. It was smoky when we were there but it would clear in the mornings and late afternoon with the winds. It offered an enhanced sunset that reflected on the water offering amazing colors. We really appreciated the snacks and the coffee. You can freshly ground and brew coffee - better than starbucks! We hope to visit RiverHaus again soon. Thank you Mark and Lori for your hospitality!

Why they chose this property
We fell in love the first time we stepped onto this property. Lori and I have an UN-quenchable love of water properties, and enjoy being near rivers, lakes, forest, mountains and ocean whenever we get a chance. This unique home takes full advantage in this unique and beautiful setting. When staying at the house, you literally become "A Part of the Santiam River". Incredible Panoramic views up and down the river with an active Eagles/Osprey Nest across from the house in an Old growth Fir Snag right in the center of the view. Amazing! A Bird Watchers Paradise with Abundant Wildlife. While sitting on the upper deck it seems like a you're living in a "Tree-house". Life just feels better while you're here! When we purchased the property, it was in distress, but after a few years of hard work, we have completely rebuilt the home inside and out. It's been a great adventure for our family and very gratifying in so many ways. Now we have been able to share it with many others who've come to love and enjoy it as much as we do. It's been our privilege to get to know so many wonderful guests that have come to love their time here. There's something magical that happens at "The RiverHaus!"
What makes this property unique
Woodsy style multi-level house with open floor plan, vaulted ceilings, tons of glass and light, a River Rock Fireplace, leather and peeled pine furnishings, with wrap around decks and outdoor living spaces that compliment and create a natural indoor/outdoor feeling and fit in perfectly with the River and Woods that surround it. You just want to be here and it's always hard to leave this peaceful place when the stay is finished.
