About this property
Charming 1800s Cape Cod home near beaches, bike trails, sunset hotspots & more!
Get away from it all with a stay in a well-appointed, historical vacation home on Cape Cod.
Situated in the village of Eastham on the bay side of the beautiful New England peninsula, Ambergris Gables sits on a private one acre lot conveniently located near many beaches, freshwater swimming holes (The Kettle Ponds), the Cape Cod Rail Trail, shops, restaurants, and even a drive-in movie theatre. The house features three bedrooms (two with queen beds, one with two twins) plus The Gable Room (with a third queen bed). The master bed and bath (featuring a steam shower) are on the ground floor with the remaining bedrooms upstairs. Also upstairs is another full bath with a separate tub and shower. There is an additional bathroom with a shower located in the utility room on the ground floor. The outdoor shower, located on the kitchen side of the house, is covered by roses and is a delightful way to start the day or rinse off after a trip to the beach.
An expansive, well-stocked kitchen and farmhouse dining table (seating eight) allows for family meals together whether you're grilling outside, wok-frying, sous-viding, or picking up tasty treats from one of the many nearby local restaurants. Or if you prefer to dine outside, pull up a chair to the outdoor dining tables on a recently-installed patio surrounded by landscaped gardens. Beyond the flower beds is an extensive lawn where you can challenge your fellow visitors to a game of croquet, cornhole, or cricket (check the garage for all the lawn games). Then crack open a beer and chill on the hammock in the shade of the trees.
Conveniently located just a mile off the Eastham/Orleans rotary, Ambergris Gables provides an ideal homebase to explore many of the charming towns of the Outer and Lower Cape. Twenty minutes north gets you to Wellfleet or head 20 minutes in the other direction and you’ll arrive in Chatham. Brewster is about 12 minutes south-west and Orleans is just a five minute drive across Route 6. If you’re beach-bound, a five minute drive gets you to First Encounter Beach, a beautiful spot for floating down the estuary on the bay side. Or if you’d rather play in the waves, Coast Guard Beach and Nauset Beach on the ocean side, are both just a ten minute drive away. And if you’d rather not get in a car, Boat Meadow Beach and Rock Harbor Beach are both just a short walk away. The sunset views from either are not to be missed!
However you choose to spend your time on Cape, we're sure you'll enjoy your time at Ambergris Gables.
