The Mama Bear Cabin was perfect for our getaway! Quiet, peaceful, perfectly rustic, in the woods but close to Nevada City and Yuba River playsppots.I already want to go back.

Problem with rats in baby Bear cabin & papa Bear sink & cabin stove didn’t work properly….

Response from VrboOwner on 17 September 2026
We were very responsive to these guests. The guests had a problem with the sink backing up because they were putting food down the drain that didn’t have a disposal, instead of the one that did.. We responded immediately and spent a good deal of time unclogging it for them . After they departed several days later, We found the smaller vegetable sink completely clogged with wax and some residual on the counter and coffee table. We did not charge them extra for cleaning, even though we had to take sink plumbing apart a second time.
We responded again as soon as we got their message about the rodent droppings and set out traps. We have caught 2 mice since and none other. These are log cabins in the countryside. The stove seems to be working fine . Not sure what the problem was. This was a large group which was supposed to be 10 guests max, however, we found out that they had guests leaving and new guests arriving throughout the week, though they never exceeded 10 at one time. This was bending our policy a bit . We try hard to be very sensitive to our guests’ needs and respond quickly whenever there is an issue. the p
We had a wonderful time at Mama Bear‘s cabin. It’s such a comfortable property. Everything worked well, and we loved the hot tub. The beds were extremely comfortable too! We would definitely like to come back and stay again.
We had a lovely stay. It was a perfect 3 day getaway from SF. The cabin was just as listed. My only advice - make sure to arrive while it’s light out - it would be challenging to find the cabin for the first time in the dark.
Mama Bear's cabin was the most charming and secluded getaway in what feels like your own, private woods. It is cozy with an old-time cabin quaintness, plus it's immaculately clean. We loved watching the deer from the deck with our coffees in the morning. Perfect for our family of 3 and our dog.
It was so peaceful and secluded, even though you are just 3 miles from downtown Nevada City. We loved the cabin and will absolutely be booking again. Comfy beds, kitchen is well stocked and the trees and stars cannot be bear! The hot tub was great.
We stayed here already 4 times and we love it. This time we brought our granddaughter and she likes to go back next year. Just the internet wasn’t really working .
We had a wonderful time. It was a clean, comfortable, and cozy stay. Rene was very helpful with recommendations and we really enjoyed our time. We will definitely be back!
Everything was great and beds were more comfortable than I expected! Loved/hated the lack of internet BUT that’s perfect for forcing some unplugged time with your family <3
This is a super cute cabin! Very cozy and extremely charming. No cell service, which didn't bother us on this short trip, and connectivity returns about two minutes in to the roughly 7-8 minute drive in to town. It *is* right next to one of the handful of summer camps in the area, so there is rambunctious camp noise in the morning during summer camp season, but that doesn't bother us- at home we live right behind a big park where camps happen over the summer and multiple concurrent little league and soccer games occur during their respective seasons. The beds were a bit saggy on the first night- I was joking that it felt like an actual bear slept in the one we slept in and i was sleeping in a pit. But to our relief, in the morning I discovered that there was a memory foam topper on top of the mattress, which, when removed, made it no worse than the majority of VRBO or hotel mattresses I've experienced over the years and improved my second night's sleep by miles.Overall, we loved it and would totally stay here again! Super cute, super sweet, super cozy, and probably spot on what most people would think of when one says the word "cabin". Just far enough from town to feel pretty isolated at night, but close enough to know that it's not.
We had a little difficulty locating the cabin; but once we were there, we had a great time. Enjoyed the wooded surroundings, hot tub, and well equipped games.
Cabin exactly as described. We both needed a quiet getaway, the cabin was so much more than what we had hoped for. If you're looking for relaxation you'll find it here :)
Great property. In nature, hot tub , electric fireplace, comfy bed, area, beautiful trees close to downtown Nevada City but far enough away that you feel like your in the country.
Rene was wonderful with communication and making sure I had a great stay. Really loved being at Mama Bears and will definitely come back.
Really cute little cabin on a nice quiet spot. Was clean and the fireplace was a really welcome addition as it was cold and wet when I was there, I imagine the propery would be really pretty if there were leaves on the tress and it wasnt the wettest CA year in history but even the dog enjoyed running around the yard in the rain. A really nice spot to get away for a few days.
