Whether you're looking for a peaceful getaway or are in town to explore amazing local trails, this is the perfect place for you. Fall asleep to the sound of frogs croaking alongside a babbling brook. Open the expansive glass doors and enjoy your breakfast basking in the morning sun. Then jump on your bike and ride from the house to the Harmony Ridge Trail network. If hiking is more your thing, it’s a half mile walk/drive to the Snow Mountain Ditch which connects to miles beautiful trails. The Hoothaus is a modern, earthen home built to be ecologically friendly and energy efficient. It is solar powered and well insulated with an in-ground heat exchanger for added cooling. There’s a natural gas fireplace for a little extra warmth when needed. It’s nestled into a hillside and surrounded by raised gardens, a waterfall and pond that make it feel like a secluded, natural paradise. There’s outdoor seating and the dining room sliding glass doors open for a “living outdoors” feel. It’s equipped with all the essentials including a locked shed to store bikes and sporting equipment, beach towels, and a fully outfitted kitchen. Entire Home with access to parking and property south of the paved driveway Your hosts Abbie and Orion are very involved in the mountain biking community and Orion designed the famous Hoot Trail. We are very excited to share our trails and surrounding area with our guests. We have lots of local tips and are here to help but don't intend on much guest interaction as we'd like you to have a private and secluded experience. A 3/4 mile ride on Willow Valley to the Snow Mountain Ditch Trail which connects to the local Harmony ridge trail network which includes, Hoot, Miners, Pioneer, Taxi Cab and several more. Only a five minute drive from the heart of Nevada City; you can explore all the art, shopping, music and food that this historic mining town has to offer. Trying to beat the summer heat? We’re located just down the road from Scotts Flat lake and Recreation Area and only ten minutes from the beautiful Yuba river. On your way to Tahoe? We're only 45 minutes from Ski Resorts on the Donner Summit like Sugar Bowl and Boreal, and an hour and 15 minutes from North Lake Tahoe and Squaw Valley.

Hi, I am a pilot for Calfire and my Husband Orion owns a financial planning firm in town. We are also avid mountain bikers and kite surfers. Orion designed and built many of our local mountain bike trails including the Hoot Trail and the new Parliament Trail network. We welcomed our first daughter, Gunnison last November.
