Your tropical tranquil oceanfront vacation home is just feet from the Caribbean waters, and far away from the maddening crowds and the bustle of tourist-saturated areas of the world. While you sunbathe, you can enjoy the ocean breeze and be mesmerized by the turquoise Caribbean waters and sapphire surf only feet from your door.

Cayman Brac is a sister island to the highly developed island of Grand Cayman and has managed to remain unspoiled, making it the perfect antidote to the over-programmed resort vacation. Explore the island’s many hidden treasures while relaxing in your own private retreat. Whether rock-climbing, caving, shelling, diving, fishing, snorkeling, bird watching, hiking, walking the shore line or simply relaxing is what you desire, you will have a vacation to remember. Enjoy the peace and quiet and the laid-back island pace in a thoroughly modern and comfortable house that will immediately become your home.

Listen to the never-ending rhythm of the gentle rolling waves and feel the cooling breezes as you enjoy the warm sunshine and stunning sunsets any time of the year. There is plenty of privacy and you'll enjoy the small yellow songbirds and the island's native brown booby and frigate birds that seem to enjoy the lush, tropical surroundings. The visibility in the water is incredible and the coral reefs endless. The low temperature of the water in mid winter is 78F so you can swim all year long. We call Cayman Brac 'detox from life'. The most difficult part of your vacation will be packing your sandals and leaving this absolute tropical paradise and the fine comfortable accommodations of the house.

Stretch out twenty feet from the water on a lounger or hammock in the 360 square foot beach cabana with thatched roof. BYOB.

If you’re vacationing with friends but still want your privacy, check out our other units which are next door and therefore perfect to combine, because you'll be close when you want and still have the privacy when you desire it!

Caribbean getaway!

Wonderful venue on a beautiful island. We loved snorkeling, exploring the caves, and lazy sunsets. Highly recommended. The property is 100ft from the sea; the Caribbean is your backyard. We love the Brac!

A perfect getaway setting

My wife and I have stayed with Henry before so we knew the product he supplied. Location is fantastic. He was very helpful with solving an A/C problem. Everything was clean and well appointed. I had forgotten how much kitchen, laundry and outdoor equipment he has to use. If we ever go back to Cayman Brac, we will hope that Henry has an opening again for us to enjoy. Cannot recommend enough!

Gem of a cottage right on the beach!

Lovely beach filled with shells was 50 feet from a large screened porch! Bedrooms have view of the ocean! Decor was bright and whimsical; location was great. Island is small enough to bike anywhere and the snorkeling is wonderful - in so many places! Henry is a very accommodating host. The island is safe, people are so friendly, and we would certainly return to this cottage. And, caymanite is the native stone and only found on these islands! Go and explore!

Beachfront home away from home

Sunset Cottage is a lovely beachfront bungalow with a fantastic view. It was centrally located within a few minutes' drive of shops and restaurants. The property manager Sasha was very accommodating and allowed us to use the owner's other property's beach when the sea was too choppy on our beach. The property was very comfortable and had everything we needed to enjoy our stay.

Good location except you can’t access the ocean in front of cottage or anywhere along beach.

Outdoor furniture needs updating to comfortable lounging furniture. Sasha was very helpful. Overall great stay. Snorkeling was very good once you drove to ocean access point. Food was good but very few restaurants. Will return again!

Relaxing, rejuvenating retreat

A beautiful escape listening to the Caribbean Sea, watching beautiful sunsets, exploring the lovely welcoming island. The freshly cleaned cottage had everything we needed and Sasha and Henry were welcoming and accommodating. We really appreciated them picking up some groceries when our flight was delayed. A highlight was seeing a huge sea turtle right out in front of the cottage!! What a wonderful adventure.

Herring Family Dive Trip

This property surpassed our expectation. We had the two properties in this location, and it was more than enough space. Perfectly located to all our needs. Snorkeling out front with my grandkids the first day we saw a loggerhead and green sea turtles. I also got to help relocate turtle eggs from the water line to higher ground. We will be back.

The view of the ocean out your back door was wonderful. The screened in backporch was spacious. The chickens that roam through the front yard were comforting. If you want the Ritz, fine dining and shopping, go to New York. If you want laid back with very few tourists bumping into you with activities like bat caves, snorkeling, deep sea fishing and just walking the beach, I'd recommend this place.

Little piece of paradise

This was our second visit and it was as great as the first one. Henry was great to work with reservation was simple and easy. House was clean and had everything we needed. Sasha did an awesome job, she checked on us regularly to make sure we were OK. The meal she prepared was excellent and the sunset cruise she arranged was awesome. We are already planning our next visit. Love the island, can't wait to visit again.

Perfect getaway

We have been to Cayman Brac many times, but this was our first time on the north west end, but we will definitely be going back there. We were met at the airport with our rental car and it was only a two minute drive to the cottage, which was in a beautiful location right on the beach, was nicely decorated, clean and well-equipped. There was a lovely beach where my wife spent many hours beachcombing for shells, etc. The snorkeling right off the beach was amazing with lots of really healthy coral and an amazing variety of reef fish. We are already looking forward to our next trip :-

Sunset cottage

We had a fantastic week at Sunset Cottage. First time to the Brac and the property is well located in the West End Northside with convenient access to local businesses for shopping/eating. The snorkeling right out in front of the cottage heading east was excellent. Henry's advance information regarding the cottage and the island was super helpful and made it very easy to figure out how to get around. He helped arrange the car rental as well. The house itself was well equipped (although we were outside in the water or hiking most of the time). We will definitely return and hopefully stay at the Sunset Cottage again.

Retirement/New Years/BDay

Wife & I spent 14 days in Sunset Cottage relaxing, 2 bedrooms 2 full bath sleeps 4-6 people easy. The screened patio is nice we did have a short period mosquitos after the rain. Henry had it stocked with everything you need, the water right out of faucet was great along with counter top ice maker, that was a blessing not to have to buy. Henry and crew were keeping grounds clean almost daily of fallen coconuts and palms. Plenty of chairs, lounge chairs and hammocks, bikes and snorkle gear were awsum. Location was great, we could take car or ride bicycle just up the road to eat, grab groceries or hang out at Scotts Dock, stop and visit with Barry and pick up some BBQ. Thanks Henry

Sunset Cottage is a great way to enjoy the Brac

Cayman Brac is a bit off the beaten path, but has first world services. The cottage is very well appointed with the kitchen having all the necessities. Beds are comfortable. Water is safe. The community of Cayman Brac is very friendly. Car rental was mostly painless, but reasonably priced. The screened in porch is a huge bonus to this cottage. Although we didn't think there were many bugs, the porch gave a sense of security and shade that few other properties had. That said, it was sometimes quite hot, even in the shade. Late most afternoons the humidity seemed to drop off and make it more comfortable. The snorkelling off the shore was excellent, particularly 150 yards to the east. Getting in and out of the water was a bit tricky and dive booties were required. We were there almost three weeks and would go again. One negative was the absense of network TV, but the internet was fast enough to get the news otherwise.

Not in Ohio anymore!

Iguanas on the road, parrots in the trees, booby chicks on the bluffs, bats in the caves, octopus, lobsters, squid, tarpon, turtles and more under the sea! An island that still feels remote, but filled with friendly locals, happy tourists, and all the comforts of home. Thanks to Sasha for her attention throughout our stay including the personal greeting at the airport with rental car, wine and cheese sunset cruise and home cooked meal (she prepared the wahoo we purchased from local fisherman at the dock!) We loved the screened in back porch view of ocean, sunsets and early morning rainbow. Fully stocked kitchen, books, board games, and access to kayak, water shoes and snorkel equipment. We were able to travel light and leave with full hearts.

Location location location!

Just as advertised—we’re so glad we stayed here! Nestled on the beach just steps from the water. Big screened in front porch facing the water where we ate breakfast & lunch every day listening to/watching the waves roll in. This was ideal bc it’s shaded from the intense sun. We spent every afternoon after diving & early evenings in the many hammocks outside napping & reading (the 2 under the canopy were our go-tos bc they were shaded). Snorkeling was OK out front but got a bit challenging getting in/out given the current & coral. After a couple of outings we ventured to Scott’s Reef & another location where there were ladders to get in/out making it much easier—plus the snorkeling was even better. The house only has AC in the 2 bedrooms but by leaving the bedroom doors open the entire house cooled quickly & felt like central AC. It had everything one needs incl an outdoor grill & dunk tank to rinse my dive gear & plenty of spots to hang my gear to dry. It’s spacious & comfy—more room than we needed given it was just 2 of us but we wanted privacy & quiet & this afforded us both. Besides being oceanfront it’s also only 10 min drive to Brac Scuba Shack, min to 2 grocery stores & several restaurants. And bc it’s on the NW side we watched the sunset every evening. Only issue which wasn't major—the house wasn't ready when we arrived but the owner was kind enough to let us stay in the 1BD house next door that's also very nice! This is the only reason I gave check in 3 stars vs 5.

Trip # 2 for us!

After COVID delayed our return, we were glad to come back! Not too many vacation locations where you can hop off the plane and be in your hammock looking at the ocean within a few minutes. The BRAC seems to have landed on its feet. In fact we were surprised at the many new pickup trucks, and property for sale, road development up on the bluffs! So get here sooner than later! Still not a traffic light on the island. Tom was able to complete his scuba certification with the professionals at local scuba shop recommended by Henry. Hired a local captain (also recommended by Henry) for a snorkeling and fishing afternoon over to Little Cayman. The fish we caught fed us for many meals along with rice and beans (we brought lots of staples) from home and sides from the authentic carribean restaurants around the island. Next time we will try to take the short and reasonably priced flight over to Little Cayman to explore before this gem gets discovered too. Trips to the local bakery for sandwich bread and cinnamon rolls were a treat. Friendly expats and divers from all around the world were happy to share adventures. Diving boats could be seen each day moored right within sight from the hammocks/screened porch at Henry’s. If water is calm, put on your dive boots (a MUST) and snorkel on out to see beautiful sea life. Beaches are rocky, very few sandy beaches. Really a scuba and snorkeling destination. Saw our one token iguana on road, cuban parrots, bats, turtles, rays jumping out of the water, lobsters, octopus, flounder, grouper, puffer fish, jacks, grunts, barracuda, tarpons, reef sharks and so many colorful fish. Thanks again Sasha for taking good care of us, and nice to meet you this time Henry! Tom and Cindy Oxford, Ohio

Unsafe electrical, miserable time, dishonest and zero integrity.

Hi Potential renters, Please read my entire post. I will try to give the good and bad of my stay and the entire situation regarding our time and then what happened after. We booked this place in December 2018 Travelled April 27-May 15. My wife and I were looking for a beach front property for a much needed time of scuba diving and rest as I work a lot like most of us. The booking process was good. Questions were answered and it seemed like the perfect place. On our arrival the property owner or his associate was supposed to meet us at the airport. Instead the car rental agent met us after us asking around. No big deal. We got our car and followed her to the rental. His assistant met us there. We were happy with the place and it seemed like it would be a great place to relax and enjoy. That’s where the good part ends. After a short time the power went out. I thought no big deal. Maybe a circuit overload? Flip a breaker, go on. Good to go. Well no breakers tripped. I started to check unit to see just what areas the power in the house were off. The TV, internet and air condition, stove, microwave, refrigerator were all off? I turned a burner knob and all power came back on? I thought it was just a coincidence. We txted his assistant and tried to call using the phone that he leaves for guests but the phone had no service. After getting a hold of the owner and his assistant she came by to see what could be done. She informed us that they were aware of the issue and that the stove turns the power back on. Every time the power cut out the AC beep beep beep. After many days of having workers in and out with no resolution and being wakened 4-8 times each night, we called it quits. We had to move VRBO’s. It was not just us but our elderly Uncle was sufferIng. The owner agreed to refund my money. Said a check would be waiting when i got home. Check was there but only a partial refund and the check bounced. He didn’t refund any portion for the miserable time we stayed as agreed. (All in a email) i filled a dispute with my credit card company this last week. Can you imagine waiting to go on a vacation and, workers in and out many many times and sometimes unannounced. Have to pay again for another rental to have the check sent for half and then to have it returned? I did ask him to make it right but fighting us to make good. I’d look elsewhere for a rental. Very disappointed with this owner. First bad experience on VRBO.

It's a great place to get away to.

My day was very restful a quiet. It would've been nice if the beach would have been cleaned up. There's a large burn pile that needs to be burned. It seemed that no matter how hard I try to take a picture of the burn pile seemed to be in the way. Overall, I have no complaints.

I grew up in south New Jersey in the States and always loved being in the sun by water and palm trees. I've always traveled and I vacationed here several years ago. When I retired at age 48 I returned to purchase a property. Now I have three properties one on the south side and I am renting the two on the north side. The water is just incredible and now I'm a certified Scuba Diver and just can't get enough of it. The Coral Reefs are amazing and can be experienced by just snorkeling. I can't ever imagine returning to the States. This place in nothing like Florida with its millions of people and chain retail.

Why they chose this property

Cayman Brac is a magical place where you can walk about in the middle of a star lit night and have not a single worry of crime or annoyances. Your family is safe here and you can feel it as the locals will wave to everyone including you. Very few people lock their houses and almost everyone will leave their car keys in the ignition 24/7 and that’s a fact. This Island is so special it has become a vacation destination for folks who live on other Caribbean Islands. The stars will make you stop in your tracks as there is very little background lights to dim the skis. You will see shooting stars and satellites orbiting the earth, you can clearly see the band of the Milky Way. This is a Scuba divers paradise with several dive boats operating daily. The visibility in the water is incredible and the coral reefs endless. This is an island of a thousand people but we do have a hospital and a few police officers. An officer's job here on the Island is the only job better than that of the old time Maytag repair man. They have to be bored out of their minds. If you want to vacation with thousands of other vacationers and to eat at the chain restaurants this is not for you. If you want tranquility and peacefulness with eighty degree weather and sunshine almost everyday this is your island. If you come once you'll be back. I am well traveled and retired from the US at age forty eight and I now live here full time on the Island. I could have moved anywhere but I wanted to live in true paradise and remove myself from the busy world out there. We call Cayman Brac detox from life. Many people come once and end up buying property before they leave. Come here and you'll see why. This property is in a great central location nearby to all the activities, stores, restaurants, and the best public swim area on the island which is just 400 yards away.

What makes this property unique

If you see more then two other couples walking on the beach in front of the house in the course of a day that would be way more then normal. The Beach is private to the water line and all yours.
