About this property
Authentic, Rustic, Historic Log Cabin
Sparkling clean and sanitized. Large restored log home located just south of Lexington in historic Richmond, KY. Beautiful private property including picturesque ponds with docks and paddle boats where guest can fish, swim or float. There are horses, opens fields, wooded areas, abundant wildlife, picnic tables, fire pit, fishing ponds and out door grill. The 4200 sq ft home is furnished with treasures from around the world, art, pottery, crystal and some primitive antiques. A rustic style parlor offers a large stone fireplace and a perfectly restored and playable pump organ from the 1800s. The welcoming wrap-around porch was featured in the book Perfect Porches and features porch swings and big hammocks.
You’ll have your own two acres, but still have the convenience of level paved roads in a quiet neighborhood just two miles from the nearest gas and groceries.
The fabulous Red River Gorge is 45 minutes east into the rugged mountains of Kentucky. And 45 minutes North is Keenland, The Horse Park, Lexington and the Blue Grass airport. And The Ark Encounter and Creation Museum is less than 2 hr away in Northern KY.
This rambling handcrafted work of art invites visitors to recall days past when time spent on a porch swing was enlightening, and a stroll around a pond is healing. There’s an enclosed hot tub off the upstairs bedroom that extends into pine trees with an outside entrance onto the back deck. It overlooks the pond and is totally private. The big windows provide beautiful views year-round, perfect sunsets and stars twinkling through the pine boughs at night.
A king sized bed and private bath are on the first level in a very large master bedroom. Off the master bedroom is a separate bedroom with a standard and two twin beds. Up the stairs from there is a queen bed in a room that opens into the hot tub room, a large bathroom with garden tub and washer and dryer. This area also has a stone fireplace with gas logs. Down the hall on the second floor are two more bedrooms. One is large with a queen size bed and record played. The fifth bedroom has a queen size bed with a full view of the pond and private entrance onto the upper deck. There is a bathroom in this area, too.
Also, on this second floor is a balcony room that overlooks the large floor-to-ceiling hand laid stone fireplace. This area has a large comfortable couch and is the perfect spot to escape to read a book.
A unique spiraling staircase leads to the open kitchen on the first floor. The dining room off the kitchen is a one room log cabin with a handmade oak table and woven hickory bottom chairs that seat 12 comfortably.

Host had been very welcoming and so accommodating. Great communication leading up to and during our stay. Everything was clean and spacious. So thankful for this place for our family to gather and celebrate together. Everyone mentioned how they look forward to returning to enjoy the property in the warmer weather.
This is a lovely, well-kept property with a thoughtful, helpful host. We were sent all the info in advance with instructions for things about the house and things to do around the area. The house itself is warm and welcoming. It was perfect with a dining area big enough for our large group. We would definitely visit again...hopefully in warmer weather so we could enjoy the outside amenities as well!
Amazing cabin to get the whole family together for a 50th birthday bourbon weekend for my husband. We have zero complaints and would definitely stay here again!
Perfect place for our family to meet for “The Cousin Crew Celebration”. The young ones did not want to leave. Perfect because they love the outdoors, roasting marshmallows, seeing the horses, exploring and having room inside too to play games, do crafts and just enjoying each others company. No one was on their computers or watching TV even though there was plenty of television to use. The only thing is the kids want to come back when it is warmer so they can fish and swim in the pond. Great stay and it was nice to meet the owner too.
Beautiful property with lota to do on site: we sat on rhe porch, sat around campfire, hiked, used paddleboats, discovered history of thw property. We had a relaxed fa ily style dinner around dining room table. Went to Berea, ate dinner at boone tavern, relaxed at their bar, wwnt ro Tater Knob Pottery
This was a great place for family and friends got get together. The cabin and grounds were large enough that we did not feel crowded but we always felt like we were together due to the unique layout of the cabin. We really liked the fire pit in the back. We also enjoyed the hot tub on the second floor.
Everything was fabulous! Check-in was simple. The owner provided a very thorough document about the property that includes all of the information you need. We had a wonderful family reunion here with family meeting up from 3 states. We hope to come back next year!
Martin Manor provided the perfect location for our 10th annual girls trip! The grounds- with horses in the paddock, many ponds and docks- wrap around porch, multiple porch swings, lots of nooks to read and a cozy great room for late night conversations was ideal! The one thing to note would be there are 5 bedrooms and then the living room with an air mattress. I’m certain we’ll be back!
We enjoyed our stay in Martin Manor. It was clean and well l furnished. We had a small issue but owners went over and above and made it right. We would absolutely stay again. The owners were great to work with.
Beautiful property and amazing host!Communication is top notch! This was our third time staying at this homey cabin and hope to visit again in the future!
Our group of 8 was a mini-reunion of friends who attended Berea College together in the late 1960s. This home is spectacular, and we were delighted to learn that it had been built from separate log cabins by one of our classmates. While we experienced a rather typical central KY fall with rain and cool weather on all 5 days of our stay, the many cozy seating areas supported hours of conversation and reminiscing. The outdoor areas were delightful to gaze upon, even with the drizzle. On first glance, arriving guests may think they are in too urban an area, but the entire back side of the home opens to spacious views of nature....and in warm, non rainy weather, there are numerous places to sit, swing, and enjoy the firepits, etc. We only left the premises once during our stay....for dinner in Berea....that says it all!
Enjoyed our three night stay. We had plenty of room for six ladies. Very well stocked with everything we needed. The setting is absolutely beautiful and serene. Unfortunately, the weather was chilly and rainy and we couldn't enjoy the outdoors. Thanks for sharing your log home with us.
The house worked great for us. Plenty of room and options. The only problem was there’s only 4 bedrooms. The 5th bedroom has 3 beds, but the only way out is to go through another bedroom. The hot tub was great. The decks were great. We even enjoyed the pond and fishing!
My friends and I enjoyed the property. Great location, very clean, solid amenities and great communication. Would stay here again.

About the host
Hosted by John Martin
Early settlers in KY cut down ancient trees and hand-hewed logs to build one-room log cabins. We built this home using two pioneer cabins and a mule barn. It is a handcrafted work of art that we lovingly created and enhanced. This spring we built a new home using two more old log cabins and moved into it. We wanted to keep our big house intact and available to share. We live just past the barn on the same property and are available to welcome and give tours of the house for guests. Or guests can choose total privacy with no contact. Our first guests left us a glowing review and we are are really happy to think of people experiencing the beauty of our precious home, our farm, fishing ponds and wooded areas.
