About this property
Modern Prescott Cabin – Near Downtown & Hiking
New Features! Beginning in November 2025, step outside to your private patio and unwind beside our new propane fire pit, designed for effortless warmth and ambiance. Inside, you’ll enjoy professionally laundered linens and towels, freshly prepared for every guest—part of our commitment to a refined, hotel-quality experience in a natural setting.
We call this project Kaliva (καλύβα)—a Greek word meaning “countryside shelter” or humble retreat. It reflects our personal story: my husband is Greek, and we met many years ago in Athens. Over time, we’ve come to love the beauty and tranquility of Prescott’s high desert, and Kaliva represents the merging of these two places we hold dear.
The property blends the soulful simplicity of Greek island life with the natural ruggedness of Arizona’s boulder-strewn landscape. We’ve named the buildings Alpha (the upper guest house, and the property in this listing) and Beta (the lower guest house), and our logo is inspired by the hand-painted geometric patterns found on buildings in Chios, Greece—a tribute to heritage, craftsmanship, and slow living. We hope you feel that balance here: a space where design, nature, and meaning come together.
Kaliva Beta is a modern designer cabin just minutes from downtown Prescott. Designed by an award-winning designer, it features birch and lime plaster walls, luxe bedding, a full kitchen, and two private patios surrounded by pines and boulders. About the host
Hosted by Rachel Simmons
Hi! I’m Rachel—an NCIDQ-certified interior designer and Program Director of Interior Design at Scottsdale Community College. Teaching is in my blood, and design is my soul. For nearly twenty years, I’ve taught design at six different colleges and universities, always blending my love for the profession with my passion for mentoring students. Alongside teaching, I maintain an active design practice with projects ranging from intimate remodels to 20,000-square-foot custom homes, vacation rentals, and community spaces.
My design philosophy is rooted in clean lines, thoughtful details, and modern living—drawing inspiration from my time in Greece and France, while embracing the bold textures of the Arizona desert. At our Prescott retreat, Kaliva, I’ve merged European simplicity with desert modernism to create spaces that inspire rest and connection. When I’m not teaching or designing, you’ll likely find me in Prescott, at the gym, or enjoying a good happy hour—unless I’m busy defending my sofa from would-be thieves. www.design-az.com

The gear is available on a first-come-first-served basis, unless reserved in advance. When you’re ready for a change of pace, historic Whiskey Row is just minutes away for dining, music, and shopping.

Spa-like bathroom – Stocked with luxe Aveda bath products, plush towels, and artisan finishes for an upscale hotel feel in a private space.
Adventure gear included – Shared access to kayaks, paddle boards, and e-bikes so you can explore Prescott without extra rentals.
Minutes from everything – <5 min to Whiskey Row, <10 to lakes and trails, yet tucked away for peace and quiet.
Euro-desert style fusion – A unique blend of Greek island calm and Arizona high desert texture you won’t find anywhere else.
