About the host
Hosted by Maria McLennan
Stylist, antiques dealer, landscape designer, it all comes together here on our quiet country compound we call Bardwyn Brae. And Doug, he is property maintenance, and quite the story teller!
Why they chose this property
Tucked away in a quiet corner of the bordering towns of Bethel and Newtown, locally referred to as “Dodgingtown”, the property sits adjacent to Huntingtown State Park, where hundreds of acres of woodland lend a very rural setting. As removed as it seems, we are conveniently located 10 to 15 minutes from anything you need, grocers, specialty markets, restaurants, etc. Truly the best of both worlds!
What makes this property unique
Relax on the spacious, multi level stone patio, with its custom fireplace and BBQ grill. Enjoy your morning coffee or an alfresco meal at the dining table. Escape to the studio for quiet time or work, a fan or heater is provided depending on the season.
Inside, the renovated galley kitchen has new appliances and cookware, and is generously stocked with cooking essentials. The clean, updated bathroom is finished with stone and tile in a neutral palette, and offers luxury linens and toiletries. A washer and dryer is located in the closet adjacent to the shower. The living room is comfortably furnished with a mix of antique and new pieces, with a small dining or work area to one corner.
Upstairs, the primary bedroom features a deck that overlooks the property, with French doors that let in plenty of light. The queen size bed has a memory foam mattress and is fitted with crisp cotton and linen bedding. There is plenty of storage with two antique dressers and a large closet. The second bedroom has a twin size bed and a writing desk, with a dresser and closet for additional storage.
