Incredible adventure
We cannot say enough good things about this quaint and quiet property, location and home! Our family had a phenomenal time catching crabs in the bay, having s’mores at the fire pit and adventuring easily to Milbridge for fishing as well as Acadia and Bar Harbor. Would highly recommend this property for all, especially if you enjoy the outdoors and are traveling with a pup! The host was so easy to work with and responded immediately with any questions or concerns. A rare find in a picturesque serene location!

Main Newbies
We loved our first visit to Maine. Abby was very responsive, she sent a very helpful pretrip fact sheet. The house is fully stocked, just like home. The location is definitely off the beaten path, peaceful and serene. Great home base for seeing the Maine coastline.

lovely house
Great house- nice attention to detail, great deck, even has sharp knives- which is a rare thing in a rental. Relaxing property, definitely far from everything, which after a couple of days in bar harbor is really nice. Schoodic is absolutely worth the visit. We tried to go to Maclellan park but there’s only 3 parking spots. Petit Manan does not go down to the point- park at the Hollingsworth trail head. Seems like all the restaurants close at 7 - so plan to be there at 6. We enjoyed the 44 North restaurant in Milbridge. Me & Ben blueberry ice cream is unparalleled. The Steuben general store has beer and chips and packaged/canned stuff- no meat or fresh fruit or veg - so pack up on your groceries before you get to the house. We liked the Acadia Provisions store in Ellsworth for meat and deli stuff. Overall a great visit.

Great family vacation
We had a wonderful time and vacation here. The house was beautiful, very clean and comfortable. The location is remote and very quiet. It is a bit of a long drive to Acadia and Bar harbor, over an hour each way, but otherwise no complaints. The little towns nearby are very cute and the ferry from Winter Harbor to Bar harbor was great. The nearby puffin and seal tour is a must see. We loved our stay!

About the host

We have been exploring Maine our entire lives and built our dream home here in 2017. We live and work in NYC so we aren't able to spend as much time here as we'd like but are excited to share it with you!

Why they chose this property

We knew we wanted to put down roots in Downeast Maine, and this spot in Steuben checked all of the boxes for us when looking for the perfect escape. Not only are we right on a majestic coastline, but the house is nestled between Petit Manan National Wildlife Refuge and the Pigeon Hill Preserve, which makes it impossible not to enjoy the natural beauty and serenity of the region. It's the ideal balance of peaceful isolation without being too remote, and day trips to Acadia National Park are a breeze. For anyone who loves being outside, there is plenty to enjoy in all four seasons without the crowds of other Maine destinations.

What makes this property unique

Attention to detail. During the building process, we made sure to include features that we know we would like if we were renters: the master bedroom has an en-suite bathroom, and there is a large 500 sq.ft. deck that makes you want to stay outside. If stuck indoors, the open kitchen space, large dining room table, and sectional couch/living room area create a cozy, welcoming atmosphere that is optimal for cooking a big meal before settling down to watch a movie, play board games, or read. We've included large sliding doors to the deck, and big windows throughout the house, so there is no shortage of natural light, and water views. The grill/fire pit area is also a wonderful place to enjoy the outdoors well into the evening.
