Welcome to the cottage

Bask in the most beautiful sunsets from this recently renovated three-bedroom, one-bathroom cozy classic cottage with a modern twist on the south shore of Rice Lake. Oh, and don't forget the gorgeous boathouse deck. This cottage was renovated on HGTV Canada's "Income Property on Vacation with Scott McGillivray."

Rice Lake boasts the best fishing in Ontario and we are conveniently located only 1 hour and 40 minutes east of the CN Tower. With quick commute options such as Taunton Road, 401, and 407 you will be on the dock relaxing in no time.

Ideal for two families or three couples (max. 6 adults, 2 children).

Sleeps 6 – two queen beds and a bunk bed (double on bottom, single on top). There is a banquette that can be used as a single bed.

This cottage typically rents from Monday-Sunday.

-Kitchen with coffeemaker (filters provided), water cooler, stove/oven, fridge/freezer, kettle, toaster, microwave, pots, frying pans, baking pans, bakeware, mixing bowls, cutting board, serving dishes, cooking utensils, plates, bowls, mugs, glasses, wine glasses, cutlery and deckware (plastic plates, bowls, cups)
-Dining area for eating and entertaining
-Bathroom with tiled-in, stand-up shower
-Deck attached to cottage with small sitting area and propane BBQ
-Deck above boathouse with oversized umbrella, L-shaped patio sectional, small table/ottoman, dining table, cushions for seats and deck boxes
-Upper sitting room with TV, Blu-Ray/DVD player, radio and couch
-WiFi and Netflix
-Lower sitting room with banquette and desk
-Grassy area for catch and other outdoor activities
-Books, magazines, board games, and DVDs

We provide sheets, kitchen and some bathroom linens (tea towels, hand towels) as well as hand soap and cleaning products. Please bring your own blankets, bath and swim towels.

​Sorry, no dishwasher and no air conditioning (there are fans throughout the cottage). Laundromat in nearby Hastings.

WATERFRONT & SWIMMING

​Gentle, sloping grass to eight stone steps down to 50-feet of waterfront and your own private 30-foot dock. Ladder on dock near shore for easy in/out. Water is approximately four-feet deep at the end of the dock and 1.5-feet deep near shore. Rocky bottom and shore. Weed-free swimming. Boathouse overlooks waterfront. West-facing cottage for the most spectacular sunsets. Please bring your own child-sized life jackets.

An awesome vacation!

The cottage location was fantastic with the lake only a few steps away. The cottage was very well stocked with plenty of water toys available as well. Enjoyed many relaxing evenings viewing the beautiful sunset from the deck over the boathouse. We thoroughly enjoyed our week stay, thanks Astrid and Sheldon. Wendy & Bill

A Wonderful Holiday!

We had a great time with family and friends. Very relaxing, safe from Covid,, swimming, ,beautiful sunsets, watching movies, taking turns cooking for each other, and talking. The cottage was lovely, comfortable, with cool nights after the city heat.. All in all an enjoyable time for the six of us.

Best cottage get away!

Family of 8 (5 adults and 2 children) stayed for a week and we definitely wish we booked for a much longer stay! The cottage was very clean, cozy and fit us all perfectly. The week we stayed was VERY hot/humid but we were thankful Astrid and Sheldon had fans in each room. We enjoyed all the water toys that were provided. We wished we had better luck with fishing but theres always next time ;) The sunsets were AMAZING every single night and the camp fire by the water was a nice touch! If we had any questions Astrid was always very helpful. We are very grateful we got a chance to stay at a cottage that could accommodate all of us. Thank you Astrid and Sheldon!!

Four Glorious Days on Rice Lake

My husband and I had a glorious getaway in Roseneath while our home was under renovation. We had a 2 1/2 hour drive from Dundas to Roseneath, and loved the cottage on Rice Lake. Full sun from 1:00 p.m. to sunset, the boat house deck was lovely, we sat most of the day outside, my husband fished, I kayaked, and we BBQ’d in the late day sun. Sunsets were outstanding. The cottage was cute and evident that a thorough renovation was recently completed. Astrid was a pleasure to deal with, and stayed in touch with us throughout out the booking process, until we arrived at the cottage. I would recommend this cottage to any couple or family to come up and see what Rice Lake has to offer.

Loved the whole experience!

We had a fabulous 9 days at Astrid and Sheldon's cottage. Everything was comfortable including the patio furniture, the beds, and the couches- we relaxed, spent time talking, reading, swimming, and sleeping. The fans and lake breezes kept us cool in the hot, humid weather, and we enjoyed getting our family together. The toys were a bonus, and we had fun kayaking, canoeing, and paddle boarding. Hope to come back soon!

Beautiful property! The house and outside deck is gorgeous!

The owners are a wonderful couple, very welcoming and sweet. The cottage was decorated beautifully, with all the necessary cooking tools. The outside deck was amazing for our sunset dinners. Many water toys for us to enjoy, during some very hot summer days. Fishing from the dock was very enjoyable for our husbands. Three couples felt very comfortable in this space. There is no air conditioning but the owners have provided fans in each room and ceiling fans that kept the cottage very comfortable. This is truly a place to relax, enjoy the view of the lake, read some books from the cottage collection and slow down. It is a 10 out of 10! I would definitely go back to this cottage.

Only the best sunsets from this west-facing property. Our cottage was fully renovated inside and out on the HGTV show "Income Property on Vacation" with Scott McGillivray. Since the show, we have added a new dock and new patio furniture, as well as all the water toys (canoe, kayak, stand-up paddle board and paddle boat).

What makes this property unique

Only 1.5 hours east of the CN Tower. With quick commute options like Taunton Road, 401 and 407, you will be hanging on the deck in no time rather than sitting in traffic. Rice Lake boasts the best fishing in all of Ontario. You can catch walleye and bass right off our dock.
