This entry hallway represents the only inside shared space of the house, ensuring your privacy and tranquility throughout your stay.

Featuring a comfortable 2-bedroom setup, including a luxurious queen pillowtop bed, a king pillowtop bed, two futons, and a single pull-out bed in the living room, our unit can accommodate up to 5 people across its spacious 1,200 square feet. Throughout the apartment, breathtaking views of Lake Erie will captivate you. The bathroom is a haven of relaxation, boasting a steam shower with a speaker, back massage jets, and a foot massager.

What makes this unit truly special is its connection to history. It is part of the original Hequembourg estate, built in 1910. The mansion, known as Harminnie, was named after Major Harry and Minnie Hequembourg, who owned the entire bay from Canadaway Creek to Crooked Brook Creek. Upon arrival, you'll receive a booklet featuring original pictures of the house and information about a children's camp that Major Hequembourg operated in the 1920s.

Step outside our property, and you'll be greeted by a three-foot stretch of smooth rocks leading to a sandy 40-foot sandbar, perfect for wading and swimming. Spend your days hunting for beach glass and driftwood, sunbathe on the beach, or take a leisurely 10-minute walk to the Dunkirk Boardwalk at the harbor, where you can indulge in delicious meals, refreshing cocktails, and satisfy your shopping desires at various shops. Dunkirk Harbor also offers a marina, restaurants, and a public launching facility for convenient access to Lake Erie.

For fishing enthusiasts, the options are abundant. Charter a boat from the harbor and try your hand at catching the famous walleye or cast your line from the mouth of the creek, just a short distance from the house.

If you're craving more adventure, the nearby Chautauqua Institute, a scenic 35-minute drive away, awaits with its vibrant arts scene. Attend symphonies, concerts, speaking engagements, and theater performances. Lake Chautauqua, accessible by boat, offers additional attractions, including Midway Amusement Park for younger children, Long Point State Park, shopping opportunities, and a variety of restaurant and bar establishments. From the serene to the thrilling, there's something for everyone.

The Chautauqua-Lake Erie Region is the perfect summer vacation destination, whether you're visiting for a day, a long weekend, or an extended stay. With its five stunning lakes, including Lake Erie and Chautauqua Lake, the area offers a wealth of recreational activities such as boating, fishing, paddlesports, camping, hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding. Golf enthusiasts will appreciate the high-quality golf courses scattered throughout the region, while those seeking relaxation can indulge in a day at the spa. For an adrenaline rush, soar through the treetops on a zipline adventure at Peek'n Peak Resort's Mountain Adventures or explore ancient forests and captivating caves at Panama Rocks.

Embark on a tour of the Lake Erie Grape Belt, home to 23 wineries collectively known as Lake Erie Wine Country. Discover craft breweries and distilleries along the unofficial "brew and spirits trail." Immerse yourself in culture at the National Comedy Center, Lucille Ball Desi Arnaz Museum, Robert H. Jackson Center, and Grape Discovery Center.

Should you wish to venture further, Niagara Falls is a convenient 1 hour and 15-minute drive away, while ski resorts, snowmobile trails, nature trails, golf courses, inland lakes, shopping destinations, and a casino are all within easy reach. Sports enthusiasts will be thrilled to know that our apartment is only 35 minutes from Ralph Wilson Stadium, perfect for Bills fans.

Fantastic peaceful getaway in amazing historical home
Highly recommend this amazing location. Just as described, with great host and lots of little extras. We were privileged to be the last guests of the season. The fall colors were stunning and the charm of the home and the beauty and serenity of the made for a relaxing and serene week. A great place to recharge! Close to Niagara Falls, Allegeheny National Forest among others. Stunning sunsets, beach-combing (collecting sea glass), star gazing and learning about the history of this home are just a few of the perks. Would definitely book again.

My name is Austin and I have lived in California, S. Carolina and Florida but born and raised in Houston, Texas. I've worked for the Walt Disney Company at Disneyland Resort and The Walt Disney World Resort , managed a seafood restaurant in Hilton Head Island, and Served some of Houston's most prominent people at Houston Country Club, so I have a good idea of how to take care of people and what great service is. By renting from me you will be guaranteed to have a relaxing vacation and have the ease of mind that you can call me if you have any concerns or issues. I am managing this home that is owned by my mother and has been in our family over 50 years.

Why they chose this property

I have gone great lengths to preserve the historic integrity of this house and have put together an album with photos and documents of the property 'Harminnie' Originally built and owned by Harry and Minnie Hequembourg back in 1910, it was a great estate, and the history is really interesting! My mother purchased this home from another relative and has been in our family for over 50 years. We are happy to be able to welcome to our home so you can experience its unique aspects!

What makes this property unique

UV light Air purifier, Steam shower w/speaker, 55" TV, High speed internet. Private beachfront access. Breathtaking views of Lake Erie. Historical significance to the area.
