Here was our daily routine. My son would get up early and fish the the Truckee, sometimes right out the back door and some days we drive 30 mins or so. We’d get back to the cabin for a shower, breakfast and a nap. Then we’d pack some lunches grab my wife and daughter and drive out to one of the many mountain lakes in the area. We’d hike, swim, fish or sometimes just lay on the beach and watch the kids and the play.

My great aunt purchased the property in the 1930's for fishing on the Truckee River. We are pleased you enjoyed the area. It is quite a unique spot.
Everything was wonderful and as described. Sitting on deck listening to river at the back of the property in the morning and evening was so relaxing. Sat down by the river and enjoyed nature. Quiet and private. Would definitely stay here again.
My daughters, 11 & 14, and I enjoyed watching the river rush by from the kitchen and sitting area in the quaint cabin. Plenty of light, a cozy loft, and a kitchen with amenities made it a perfect base camp for our spring ski trip.

From the Owner: "The cabin is nicely located for skiing - close to resorts, but out of the way of congestion. I'm glad you enjoyed. We updated the kitchen since you were there."
This place was just lovely. The pictures don’t do it any justice. A great getaway. The cabin was quaint, the sound of the river was phenomenal and unexpected, just what the family needed.

From the owner: "I'm so glad you enjoyed the cabin and river. It is a unique place."
Beautiful view. Quick drive to Truckee. Perfect for a small family. Driveway is a little confusing to find if coming from the north. Look at maps before arriving.

From the owner: "Yes, the cabin is a bit remote...even though it is right off the highway. The property is lovely."
This property is perfect if you are looking to ski Palisades, Alpine or Sugar Bowl. High snow pack wall presented some challenges, mainly the tightness of drive way and parking.
All in all great spot for a family ski trip
Our stay was awesome. Cabin is great!
Twin beds not so good! The deck and surroundings were amazing! The higher in front of the cabin was busier than usual because of the fire in Reno, and was a bit noisy. Overall our stay was great. Thank you for sharing your place!

From the owner: "I’m so glad you had a nice stay! The deck really is a special spot—there’s nothing like being right on the river."
This place really takes you back to a simpler time where there was a stronger bond between you and nature. We stayed during the winter and from the snow capped rocks on the river to the valley extending in all directions it really put our souls at ease. But it isn't too far out of the hustle as It was only 10 min up the road to downtown Truckee and all of the ski resorts were easily accessed. We had a good time and would love to see the place in the summer too!
Really sweet little place on the truckee river that suited my needs, snowboarding at Northstar. Google maps kept wanting to send me all the way down to Alpine Meadows if I navigated there with that app; so heads up on that. The house could benefit from better water flow in the kitchen sink, or a dishwasher.

From the Owner: "Thank you very much for your stay and review I will gladly take your comments into account to make the stay more pleasant and we hope to host you again very soon”
My family and I really enjoyed our three nights here for a short ski trip at Palisades/ Alpine Meadows. Great location being about midway between truckee and Olympic valley right off hwy 89. The deck off the back of the house is awesome and borders right up against the truckee river. The house is 1 of 3 properties on a small driveway pull off on 89, and can sneak up quickly, so be careful with traffic. Also, exiting the driveway is a bit of of incline, so care is need there as well when merging onto 89.

From the owner: "I agree, Paul, the deck and property are rather amazing. We do highly recommend 4-wheel/all-wheel drive due to snow and steepness of the driveway."
If you are looking for a quiet get away on the river, this is for you! This rustic cabin is so lovely and surrounded by beautiful lush greenery - Quaking aspens, Pines, and tons of other plants including some lupines. There is a beautiful running creek to the left of the property that feeds into the running river down below which is all easily accessible. There are chairs down by it to hang out on.
As far as swimmable, it is not really so easy at the cabin but there are plenty of spots nearby. It is rocky and you will need your river sandals to walk around. There is a walkable trail to the left that goes through the woods along the river. The cabin is cozy and has everything you need. Very dog friendly, there are supplies for you in the mudroom. The deck is new and huge and safe for dogs since it has gates and it looks out onto the river.
The only tricky part of this cabin is it easy to miss. Google maps sent us 5 miles past to make a u-turn. There's a highway sign for the landfill that is at the entrance. Don't worry, there is no landfill nearby!
The cabin is close to town to get to Safeway, etc and close to the River Run and Tahoe City. What is so great is there is not much light at night and you can see tons of stars at night. We would stay there again for sure! Jackie is a great host and very communicative! Thank you again, Jackie!

Rustic river’s edge cabin
We had a lovely stay at this rustic cabin along the Truckee River. The location is super for skiing at Palisades or enjoying the local trails in the summer. Winter or summer, the views on the Truckee River are wonderfully relaxing. The cabin itself is vintage 70s/80s. This isn’t uncommon for many of the rentals in the area and you’ll want to embrace that as part of the cabin’s charm. On the flip side, this means that fixtures and some appliances haven’t been updated — so you will need to take that all in stride and have some patience. It is clear that the cabin is greatly loved by the owners and they are sharing part of their family history with guests. The owners are wonderful communicators and we felt well-supported by them during our stay for any questions.
My husband really liked the house and he normally doesn't flip out over the rentals we stay at. Very green and serene, great deck, river view. Comfortable for three people. I don't think any more than four people staying there is a good fit. There is one shower.
This was a beautiful location on the river. Multiple wildflowers, hidden spots to relax, a creek, and a bridge leading to a riverside walking path. The deck was great for our dog- surrounding the rear if the cabin with gates, so safe for pets and kids. The owner was responsive and very helpful.
My younger son loved having his own loft upstairs.
It is about 5 minutes from Squaw Valley and 20 from Tahoe City, 30-40 from Emerald Bay.
Only 2 thing I wished I’d known: it is about an hour from South Lake Tahoe ( my lack of knowledge), and the cabin is along 89, so there is constant traffic noise, though not horrible, it can still be heard from the River.
Charming and clean. Little piece of paradise. The deck and river were great. Easy access to river trail and fishing.

Lovely home in a beautiful setting
My kids and I stayed in this lovely home in Truckee, the views from the deck are amazingly beautiful and the sound of the river made it a very relaxing mini vacation :)
Great location, right between Truckee and Tahoe City. Communication with the owner was excellent. Had one little issue while we were there and she took care of it immediately!
My family and I found the house to be exactly as described on VRBO and was very clean and well stocked. The only problem we had was locating the residence because you drive down a steep driveway and the house is at the very end. Address signage would have been helpful. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would definitely rent it again. The views were fantastic of the Truckee River.
We had a beautiful stay at this cozy riverside cabin. The location is magical - so close to the Truckee River, with a little creek running alongside the cabin and into the river to add even more sparkle. The deck is great and there’s a path and footbridge for kids to explore. The location is great - close to Truckee and Palisades.
The house really feels like a family home, with old-fashioned decor and an idiosyncratic book collection. There is no cable or streaming, so if you want to watch movies or shows be sure to bring an HDMI cable. Jackie was an exceptionally friendly and helpful host, which really added to the feel of being a guest in a family home.
Thanks Jackie, we will be back!
We arrived after a heavy snowstorm. There was deep snow everywhere, including on the roof. The Truckee River, out the back of the house, was beautiful but the snow so deep that we couldn't walk along it. Snowshoes would be a good thing to have if you come here in winter. The house is very conveniently located near Truckee. It is well equipped. Our stay was enjoyable and the hosts were very helpful.

Comfortable cabin on the Truckee River
Loved the view of the River from the living room and the large fenced deck which was great for my grandkids & dog. We walked over the small bridge for our morning walks through the woods. Thanks to the owner for clearing access to the River as we all enjoyed ourselves.
Location made it easy to visit Truckee & Lake Tahoe.
Great rustic home on the river with an awesome deck with unobstructed view of the Truckee River only yards 50 yards away.
Several things need updating, especially the beds
