WHAT IT FEELS LIKE: Wake up, shower in the outside shower with harbor view. Eat breakfast while watching the ferry traffic. Walk 2 minutes down your private boardwalk to the beach, where you can sunbathe or swim in the calm waters.
Enjoy one of three queen bedrooms downstairs or upstairs, with an additional twin bedroom on call. Relax in the cozy, wood-walled family room for a game or a show.
Walk, drive, or bike into town, which is about 10 mins drive/bike, or a half-hour walk. Enjoy activities in town, disc golf, the South shore, all within 2-4 miles.
Hang outside at the dining table, on the hammock or the Adirondack chairs.
Watch what has to be one of the most consistently best sunset views from the dining table, outside, or in a beach chair on your own private beach.
Enjoy being in an updated-but-authentic beach cottage that feels like home.

MORE TRADITIONAL INFO: The first floor of the house has an open floor plan including kitchen, dining and living areas great for entertaining, quiet evenings or family time. There are 3 bedrooms full of sunlight and ample closet and dresser space. They include a large master bedroom with a queen bed and a full bathroom, 2d bedroom with a queen bed and 3d bedroom with 2 twin beds and full bathroom. All the beds, linens and towels in the house are new.
The kitchen is well equipped with new cookware, serving dishes and tools. The walls are paneled with a unique, beautiful, luan. The floors are all wide board oak.
The second floor has an open floor plan with a king bed, a sitting area and full bathroom. It is accessed by an outside staircase. The interior has been freshly painted, and has comfortable furniture and carpets over a warm maple floor. The views from the second floor - harbor and town - are very special.
Enjoy the new outdoor shower - a Nantucket tradition. A Weber gas grill is available for your BBQing needs.

About the host
Hosted by David Ernst
The house has been in my family since1957, when it was built by Morris Ernst, my grandfather. It has been used as a summer home by my parents, who returned most years from living overseas as diplomats. Now, my family uses the house as a base for getting together with each other and friends, plus swimming, surfing, sailing, biking, eating at favorite restaurants like Black-Eyed Susan. We like being hosts and offering an authentic Nantucket experience to our guests.
Why they chose this property
Monomoy is a quiet, dead-end street very close to town and on the water. We enjoy most the sunset, and being on the water. Being just a few hundred yards from the harbor => being in touch with the tides, ferries, wind, fog and nature - and creates, outside-in, real shift from our "normal" i.e. busy, lives. Also, in case no one has confessed it to you, "fog happens" on Nantucket, and Monomoy seems to have the best weather on the island, with lots of sun at times when other parts are foggy or cloudy.

Unique attributes, esp combined: 1) Monomoy loc; 2) own beach with direct access; 3) authentic cottage, not predictable all white beach rental 4) outdoor shower!; 5) sunset views !!!
