This Property and its Host David far exceeded our expectations. The cottage exudes warmth and comfort. The views and beach access are incredible and David's truly kind and responsive. We look forward to staying again in the future and would recommend staying here to anyone.

Houston,
Belated thanks for this review - would love to have you back again. We've made various improvements to the house since you stayed (though the sunsets are just the same - best)
The best of classic Nantucket. A lovingly cared for family home, directly on the harbor, with the most beautiful sunsets you could imagine. There are vintage details almost everywhere you look that show the level of thoughtfulness that went into designing this home, and it would be very hard to beat the location. Staying here reminded me of coming to the island as a child, in all the best ways. And our kids loved the quick walk to the harbor beach.

David - So glad you enjoyed your stay, the house, and the sunsets. We are continuing to make upgrades, while retaining the classic feel of the home. Look forward to hosting you again!
We loved our stay at this great Monomoy house. My only concern is that the beds are full size, not queen size as advertised. Otherwise, fabulous!

Hi Lisa,
hope all is well with you. I wanted to let you know that the upstairs and principal bedroom now have king beds; the other rooms have a queen and two XL twins that can be combined into a king. We've made a bunch of other upgrades in the past few years and would love to have you back again!
We have rented many places on Nantucket over the years, but this was by far the best one ever! The location can not be beat and simply the best view and sunsets on nantucket
The walk way to the beach is so special
The house is so comfortable and well stocked
The owner, David is the best. He is very responsive.
We enjoyed every minute here and made memories that will last a lifetime

About the host
Hosted by David Ernst
The house was built in 1957 by my grandfather Morris, who lived next door and who was an early resident of Monomoy. The house was used as a summer home by my parents, who lived overseas as diplomats. I live in the Washington, D.C. area, but have been to Nantucket every summer. The house is my family's base for being together with each other and friends. We enjoy sailing, surfing, biking, playing cards, eating (esp.at Black-Eyed Susan's). We like being hosts and offering an authentic Nantucket experience to our guests.
Why they chose this property
Monomoy is a quiet neighborhood with no through-traffic. It is on the harbor across from town, and is close to everything.
We enjoy the sunset, being on the water, and watching the always-changing boat traffic. Being right on the harbor allows us to be in touch with the tides,, wind, fog and nature - and that provides a welcome shift from our "normal" lives. Also, though "fog happens" on Nantucket, Monomoy seems to have the best weather on the island.
What makes this property unique
Unique attributes are: 1) Monomoy location; 2) own beach with direct access; 3) authentic cottage, not the stereotypical all-white beach rental 4) outdoor shower!; 5) sunset views !!!
