First night we found a few bugs in the bed. The second night there were bugs all over the bed, covers, & pillows. Bugs appeared dead. We didn't discover the bugs till after midnight. My wife would up sleeping on the lower bunk bed which just had a few bugs, the upper had more bugs, so I tried to sleep on the loveseat.We contacted the host the next morning about the issue and they provided excuses but never offered to adjust the cost of the stay since we weren't able to use the facilities as advertised. A small discount would have been much appreciated and could have prevented a poor review.They said the bugs were termites that swarmed in an open door or window and that they died within 24 hours. We never opened any windows and only opened the door to enter or leave.It was a disappointing experience that could have been salvaged by a more understanding host.

We appreciate the feedback and always want our guests to have a comfortable stay. We were first made aware of this concern on the morning of checkout after the guests had already departed, and wish we had been contacted during the stay so we could have addressed any concerns right away. After inspecting the cabin and looking into it further, we determined the insects were termites that had swarmed and were likely drawn inside by lights at night, where they died shortly after. This can occasionally happen in rural, wooded areas. The cabin had been thoroughly cleaned prior to arrival with fresh linens and checked again the morning of the stay. We encourage guests to reach out at any time during their stay so we can help immediately and ensure an enjoyable experience.
