About this property
Timeless stillness, steps from the piazza
Villa Le Rondini is a restored 400-year-old stone estate in Radda in Chianti, the historic capital of the Chianti Classico wine region. It sits three minutes on foot from the village piazza, which is genuinely unusual for a private estate in this part of Tuscany. Radda has its own restaurants, wine bars, butchers and groceries — you can walk to dinner, walk for coffee, walk to the wine bar, and come home to a hectare of private garden and open countryside as far as you can see. During summer, the 1000 Miglia and the Chianti Ultra Trail both pass directly in front of the villa.
The pool looks out over the Florentine valley below. The watchtower at the top of the estate was built to watch for Florentine armies crossing that valley toward Siena, one of the defining rivalries of medieval Tuscany.
Mornings here are slow. The kitchen is set up for family meals and the lawn is big enough for children to genuinely run around. In summer, to chase fireflies. Two gazebos for the afternoons, one for dining, one for the view. When you feel like the village, it is a short walk. Florence is 45 minutes, Siena 30.
The restoration was done by master craftsmen over six years. The blacksmith who made the gate is the same man behind the Chianti Classico rooster. The pink en-suite ceiling dates to 1913, restored using a technique no longer taught. There are two kitchens, eleven garden terraces and zones, and a silent underfloor climate system throughout. The cantina, a vaulted stone room beneath the house, tends to become the default for evening dinners. Candlelit, quiet, the kind of space that makes a meal feel like an occasion.
Brandon, one of the owners, is either on site or within easy reach during your stay and available by WhatsApp any time. Before you arrive we reach out at 90 days and again closer to arrival to help plan the week, and can arrange the house to be stocked with essentials and wine so you settle in comfortably after travel.
The villa includes a welcome basket of wine, local produce from our garden and the village, and two mid-week cleans.
Five individually styled en-suite bedrooms · Private pool · Large garden and lawn · 3-minute walk to Radda village · Owner support during stay

Why they chose this property
Villa Le Rondini is three minutes on foot from the piazza of Radda in Chianti. In a region where most villas require a car for everything, that changes the experience entirely. The restoration took six years by master craftsmen. The cantina alone took a full year: every brick removed and reinstated by hand by only two masons, the Proveddi brothers. Original details throughout the villa remain untouched: 150-year-old light fittings, the original stone sink in the living room, and the hand-rung bell at the watchtower. The underfloor climate system runs silently throughout, no noise, no dry air. The villa has been part of this village for four centuries. Some of the older residents in Radda spent part of their childhood here. It was once a gathering place for the whole community, for food, for wine, and for care.
What makes this property unique
Radda in Chianti is quieter and less visited than the other Chianti Classico towns, and that's precisely why people who know Tuscany well tend to end up here. The village has its own rhythm, market days, local festivals, a piazza that fills slowly in the evenings. In summer the village comes alive with open-air concerts, food celebrations and events that guests can walk to straight from the villa. The sunsets are famously pink and purple, a peculiarity of the valley light that painters and photographers have been coming for decades to capture.
Several respected Chianti Classico producers are within minutes of the villa. Private wine tastings can also be arranged at the villa itself. In season, truffle and porcini hunting can be arranged nearby. The countryside offers walking, cycling and horse riding through vineyards and olive groves. The winding roads through the Chianti hills are some of the most scenic drives in Italy. Cooking classes in the grand kitchen with a private chef, and day trips to Florence, Siena, San Gimignano and Volterra complete the picture.
