About this property
☆Oakley's Oasis, a Dharma Dwellings Designed Home☆
Oakley's Oasis is named after our beloved first puppy. Much like him, the house has a lot of personality, and is named to honor his legacy! Having lived in the home and loved the neighborhood with Silver Lake within walking distance and Mayo Clinic less than 10 minutes. The home is next door to our other homes, Poppy's Paradise and Dee Dee's Den. We have been blessed to host hundreds of guests, and work hard to ensure you have an relaxing and restorative experience with us at Dharma Dwellings!
The Space:
➤Large open concept kitchen with Quartz countertops, perfect for preparing a meal and watching TV. All the pots and pans you may need.
➤Two Spacious bedrooms, the size of the bedrooms are unique to most of the homes in town.
➤There are three steps up into the house, and a staircase down to the unfinished basement. These are only for the laundry!
➤Any amenities you could need including Coffee, tea, and cooking oil and spices provided.
➤Large 50in Roku 4k tv (with associated Netflix account), Xbox 360, boardgames, and an over the air antenna with 25 local HD channels provided.
➤The deck is there for your enjoyment during the nice weather with table and an Electric Grill
➤Full service snow removal/ice melt to ensure you are able to get to your appointments.
➤We do share the Large 3 stall garage with our guests next door. (each home gets a stall, see the attached photos). Right next door is Poppy's Paradise and on the corner is Dee Dee's Den our other homes! Say hello to your neighbors! Available parking on the street out front.
➤ Three homes all in the same location provides us unparalleled ability to provide flexibility for your stay should you need to extend based on Mayo testing or complications
Guest Access:
➤You have the entire house to yourself. Everything in the home is yours to use during your stay.
➤Just a heads up that we have cameras on the front and back of the home, which ensure that no uninvited guests/thieves are on the premises. There are no cameras in the home.
➤$75 pet fee due to excess cleaning for hair! We ask you pick up the dog poop!
➤We may need to access the house based on any potential problems or necessary repairs, but will let you know!
Interaction With Guests
We love hosting guests to the Med City, and we're excited to share it's unique attractions with you! After having such an fantastic hosting guests at Betty's Bungalow, we are branching out!
➤We live approximately 10 minutes from the property and are available in the evenings if needed. We work at the clinic during the day, but texting is a great option for quick questions or issues! We enjoy interacting with guests, but will certainly give you your privacy. If you are staying with us for longer than a week we like to make you a meal as a way to get to know you and give you some great food! We also have retired family members in town who can help out in a pinch!
Other things to note:
➤We have commodes, shower chairs, and bed railings available for those with limited mobility issues. Let us know in advance so we can get them for you.
➤We provide a pack-n-play and high chair for those with little ones! Let us know in advance so we can get it for you.
➤All of our sheets and bedding are hypoallergenic for those with allergy or sensitivity issues.

About the host
Hosted by Alex and Emily Schmitt
We are long term residents in Rochester, and love living in the city. Alex is a practicing Physician Assistant managing his own patient panel at Olmsted Medical Center, he is frequently answering guest questions on navigating the healthcare system. Emily is a practicing OT, who primarily is in the Oncology ICU, and also is a part of a post intensive care unit clinic. She primarily works at improving patient's daily quality of life.
Our free time is dedicated to our daughters. Brynne, is our very talkative two year old! She is wild and fun, and keeps us on our feet! We could go on for days about her! Now, we have most recently welcomed Olenna to the family on 10/21/22, who is very into smiling and cooing. We're very blessed to be able to raise them!
Some of our favorite things include....
1. Goldendoodles -We adore our Rory and Poppy, they are energetic bundles of joy! We can always arrange a puppy visit if needed!
2. Good food - Indian and Thai are two of our favorites, but we'll never turn down a good pizza. (anything really...) We like food.
3. Walking/hiking - whether simply walking our neighborhood, hitting the local trails, or hiking Devil's Lake in Wisconsin, we enjoy getting out in nature.
4. Dharma Dwellings! We really want to do our best to serve you as your hosts, and attempt to resolve any issues or concerns you may have! We want to make sure your time spent with us is the most relaxing experience you can have in the Med City! We've hosted hundreds of guests, and had quite a few converts to the idea of an Airbnb after staying with us!
We value meeting and developing new relationships with out guests, (which has become more difficult with the pandemic and a young family). Our mission is to treat you as if you were our own family, and hope that permeates through our homes as soon as you enter! All of our services are directly family run through cousins, grandma's, and the handyman grandpa! You can learn more about us at DharmaDwellings!

Why they chose this property
This has been our home for 3 years in the past, and we couldn't bear to part with it! We've created many memories here and hope you do too! We've expanded our fur baby Goldendoodle family, and plan on having good old human babies in the near future. As a result, we're moving to a larger house in town! After having such a wonderful experience hosting people Betty's Bungalow, we've expanded the impact Dharma Dwellings can have in fulfilling our mission of treating you like family!
What makes this property unique
We love the spacious room sizes within this house. The large three car garage allows us to store all of our projects and still allows room for you to park! We love the neighborhood, especially walking around Silver Lake, or heading up the hill behind Kellogg School to get a wonderful view. There is also a nice open field next door.
