THE WHY NOT STORY
In 2021, we parked a 20’ camper on this land and began clearing it ourselves — uncovering ridgeline views and countless Y-shaped knotty branches along the way. “Why Not” stuck. We designed and built this home from the ground up, crafting many details ourselves. If you stay, we hope you feel the residual good vibes and energy :)
We're proud to have our house design featured in City Scope Magazine (Spring 2026)

Mollie owns this delectable micro-bakery, and she happens to live a hop, skip, and a jump from Why Not. She’s like Little Red Riding Hood and literally leaves the basket of yummies on the doorstep.
"The owner, Kelly, hooked us up with Mollie, who delivered freshly-made sourdough bread, farm-fresh eggs, and homemade cinnamon rolls straight to us. The bread and cinnamon rolls were ridiculously good!"

Kelly was a great host as well as attentive. The property was all that was described and more. My wife brought our two dogs on an extend weekend in the mountains and instantly were blown away when we pulled into the driveway. The property was beautifully landscaped and maintained. The interior was modern and clean. The only thing we regret is having to leave. We will be back for a longer stay in the near future.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write this lovely review, Thomas. We're happy you enjoyed your time, excited for your return, and appreciate you taking such great care of the place!
The privacy of the place was truly refreshing—perfect for unwinding and escaping. We enjoyed the lovely walking trail just steps away from the property. It was a joy to take a walk, soaking in the peaceful surroundings. Plus, being dog-friendly made it even better! This trip was just my husband myself and our puppies. If we came with more of our family having all the outdoor spaces would be great. Overall, I highly recommend this rental for anyone looking for a relaxing getaway in a serene setting. It was exactly what I needed, and I can't wait to return!

A Peaceful, Secluded Paradise – Absolutely Flawless Stay! Our stay at the Treetop Cabin was nothing short of excellent. If you are looking for a secluded, private, and deeply peaceful getaway, this is it. The property is incredibly quiet, and we loved waking up to the beautiful sound of the birds singing every morning. We spent a ton of our time on the upstairs screened-in patio, which was the perfect spot to relax. The amenities here are top-tier—the hot tub was wonderful, and the outdoor shower right off the master suite deck was an absolute highlight. Inside, the cabin features really cool, unique decor, a fantastic kitchen setup that made cooking a breeze, and even gym equipment! It is also incredibly dog-friendly. We took full advantage of the hiking trail right on the property, and the pups absolutely loved exploring it.To top it all off, the hospitality was unmatched. The owner, Kelly, hooked us up with Mollie, who delivered freshly-made sourdough bread, farm-fresh eggs, and homemade cinnamon rolls straight to us. The bread and cinnamon rolls were ridiculously good! This is an awesome place, and we would absolutely stay here again in the future. Highly recommend!
The property is very well kept and clean. Kitchen and pantry is supplied very well with cookware, dishes and etc. Kelly is very responsive with communications and she is very helpful with suggestions. It is a very nice get-a-away from the hustle and bustle. Overall its a lovely place to be.

About the host

Why Not Woodland Escape got its name because we literally said WHY NOT move from the city and live on-site in a camper while we design and build our dream home?
WHY NOT also gets its name from the countless branches and trees we handled in the shape of 'Y's' and of course, all the knots in the trees.
Why they chose this property
We spent over two years looking for the perfect acreage for our dream home. And we found it!
What makes this property unique
Our property has it all! Privacy, views, trails, a creek, wildlife, and seamless indoor-outdoor living.
