Had a lovely time at Jana’s place, the property is in a beautiful setting. Easy access to the lake and nature trails. Great communication with host. Beautiful home
It was an incredible first trip with our 6 month old son. Quiet area and house had everything you could possibly need! It was the best stocked kitchen we’ve ever stayed at. The house is convenient to town (groceries, food), hiking, and a Great Lake house.

Great experience, very clean. Spent a long weekend away from the busy work life and was exactly what we needed. Beautiful home and area. Close to everything. The home had everything we needed for a comfortable stay.

Trust me they thought of everything! If you want a nice quiet get-a-way in the Blue Ridge mountains - this is the place to stay. I have a feeling we’ll be back.
This was such a neat cabin, tucked away from crowds, traffic, and city noise. The front porch was great for mornings and evenings to just relax and unwind from each day’s activities.

Amazing secluded property for a serene vacation at Lake Lure! We really enjoyed the amenities and décor at the cottage. It had the cozy aesthetic we were exactly hoping for on our anniversary trip. The community areas were beautiful and a great added bonus to explore locally! The cottage is also within easy access for day trips to other areas such as Chimney Rock and Asheville. We would highly recommend staying for anyone looking to visit this area!

Girlfriend and I decided on a last minute vacation. Our host was very accommodating and responsive in our interest in the cottage. The location was perfect as we were near most places we were interested in visiting. The cottage was clean and in a quiet location. One of our favorite parts was we had access to several water attractions which included a waterfall and several nice size streams which we both enjoyed!

We thoroughly enjoyed staying at Black Bar Lodge!!
The owners were great and very welcoming. They left clear and easy to follow instructions. Shopping was close by and the kitchen got the job done for a family of 4. The location of the cabin is very peaceful and quiet. We brought kayaks and were able to drop in at the private lake, just a 1/2 mile drive. The waterfall was amazing! I would highly recommend staying!

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the cabin! It was perfect for our family of four. The pictures accurately show how cute and charming this property is in person. It was secluded but close enough to river and lake access. We loved the beach area in the neighborhood! The hosts went above and beyond by added small touches to the home, like games, a first aid kit, and a portable fan in the master bedroom that made our stay that much more enjoyable. We would highly recommend this property and would stay here again if visiting the area.

This property was absolutely perfect for my husband and our 2 young children. It was quiet and cozy, had everything we needed in the kitchen to make meals, and provided plenty of blankets, towels and linens. We really enjoyed just sitting outside by the fire pit in the evenings or on the front porch to enjoy the scenery but it was very close to chimney rock and Lake Lure so we did venture to these places as well to explore. Lots of fun trails right close by to hike too. Jana was also very helpful in all areas of our trip! 10/10 recommend Black Bear Cottage!

Thank you so much for staying with us on your family trip. We hope to host you all again!
Everything was exactly as described in the listing and felt really clean and updated without losing the rustic cabin feel. Loved this neighborhood and how quiet it was, lots of great options for walking outside. Only downside was my kids kept hitting their heads on the loft ceiling since that room is tight, but that’s really on my kids. We enjoyed the puzzles and games- internet was spotty but expected for the mountains. We’ll have to come back in summer to enjoy the lake activities. All in all a great trip!
We were a last minute booking running from Hurricane Ian. Jana responded quickly and all correspondence with directions was simple. At the end of our stay, Ian had followed us and we had to get home quickly to find family members. Jana graciously refunded us for the one night we had to give up. We will be back!

We were so happy you chose our home and glad you all were safe. Please come see us again!
We enjoyed swimming in the lake in this neighborhood and enjoyed the outdoor spaces at the home. Great small cabin for our family of four. It would be more comfortable to have a twin bed in the third bedroom (being used as an office) for a second child. Our two kiddos shared the queen bed.
The drive from the house to lake lure beach is just 15 minutes. Very clean house with a nicely equipped kitchen and enough paper products to last us four days. Thanks for having us!
We really enjoyed the solitude of this very pretty home located in a beautiful mountain setting. It was extremely comfortable, very clean and super cozy!
The decor throughout the home is so pretty with thoughtful touches everywhere, the bed was comfortable with nice pillows and linens, the shower pressure was good with plenty of hot water, the kitchen had quality pots, pans, dishes, and glassware, a very comfy sofa in the living room area to watch tv, and the sweet front porch and large back deck had comfortable seating. This place is truly a gem!
The Riverbend at Lake Lure has so much to offer. This is a beautiful area of NC that my husband and I had fun exploring. Can’t wait to come back!

Modern stay with great neighborhood amenities for families!
What a find! Jana has created a wonderful vacation home to share with others. She's communicative and quick to resolve any concerns. She went above and beyond for us. We loved the modern look and feel of the whole home and the thoughtfulness of the amenities. It was easy to cook meals with all the provided kitchen tools. Laundry baskets. Snuggly blankets in the living room—you name it, everything was considered for a wonderful stay. The neighborhood is great for young families with easy access to walking trails, swimming holes, beach fun, and more.

Our family had a wonderful time at Black Bear Cottage. The house was more then enough room for our young family of 4. The property was beautiful! We enjoyed local attractions like Flowering Bridge and Chimney Rock. We also did some local hikes and Asheville was an easy hour ride. The fire pit was perfect for relaxing and making s’mores!
Jana was a wonderful host with everything we needed to get started at the cottage. She also sent helpful information and great local restaurants and things to do. The house was clean and exactly as the pictures showed! Jana was quick to respond with questions and always very informative.
We look forward to visiting again soon!

Thank you so much for your kind review. We hope to host you again in the future. Best wishes, Jana
The cottage was exactly as listed. Neat and clean. No frills but very nice. The hosts were extremely responsive and had even left personalized coffee cups for us. Nice souvenir to remember our trip.. The property and home are nicely secluded even though in a gated community. We did not get to enjoy the amenities, although there were many. We visited the area for the fall foliage and drove to nearby towns like Chimney Rock and Hendersonville, and did several hikes. All easy access, Home was the perfect base station for our quick Fall getaway. Beds were confortable. Kitchen nicely stocked. Can’t wait to visit in Summer for some time on the lake. Home is perfect for a couple or a small family. Large loft upstairs and one bath downstairs.
This house had it all for us: there were the soaps, paper towels, linens, bath towels, and even seasonings, oils, teas to keep us comfy. The accommodations were comfortable and well kept. The decor was lovely! We LOVED all the games they had. My 6yo loved exploring all the games and the 16mo old slept very well in the office (in a Pack and Play we brought). The only thing I'd caution others about, if it's important to you: there are no shades or curtains or blinds in the King suite upstairs (no bedroom door either), there are no window coverings in the office and there's a windowed-door in the Queen room downstairs without window coverings. This really only impacted the baby who napped during the day hours. But for folks who can sleep past 6am, be prepared for beautiful sunlight to stream in. We'll be back!
