Private Dog-Friendly Cabin in Lake Lure – Lakes & River Access
Mountain Lake Escape – Peaceful Cabin Retreat in Lake Lure
Nestled in a tranquil, wooded gated community in Lake Lure, Mountain Lake Escape is the perfect sanctuary for families, couples, and solo travelers alike. Tucked away on a quiet lane, this cozy cabin feels worlds away, yet modern conveniences are just moments away, inviting you to relax within nature’s embrace.
Begin your mornings on the deck, wrapped in a blanket with coffee in hand and seasonal views of Mirror Lake. Evenings glowing with conversation and a glass of wine by the fire pit make this space a favorite gathering spot. Inside, comfortable memory-foam mattresses dressed in soft luxury linens promise restful nights.
The kitchen is fully appointed for meal prep and casual dinners, with everything from stainless steel appliances to all the necessary tools and cleaning supplies. A washer/dryer, iron, and ironing board make longer stays effortless. You’ll also find thick bath and beach towels, a generous shampoo-conditioner-body wash dispenser, and a welcome bottle of wine as our treat.
Family fun is baked in—play foosball in the upstairs loft, explore an on-site treasure hunt (available year-round for all ages), or enjoy board games and DVDs, including Dirty Dancing, filmed right here. Streaming Netflix is simple with our Roku TV and Starlink high-speed internet.
Adventure awaits right outside your door. Although not lakeside, the property grants access to two private lakes and the Broad River via nearby public parking—great for paddleboarding, tubing, or riverside lounging. We include two paddleboards, life jackets, and inner tubes for your enjoyment.
Explore beyond the cabin—you’re minutes from Chimney Rock State Park and its dramatic trails. Or zoom through the canopy at Canopy Ridge Farm’s zipline park. The area also offers mini-golf, scenic hikes, charming restaurants, wineries, and spa escapes. Asheville is just an hour away, and Hendersonville a quick 30-minute drive—ideal for day trips or indulging in arts, dining, and shopping.
When day gives way to night, return home to comfort and quiet among the trees. Mountain Lake Escape isn’t just a place to stay—it’s where adventure and relaxation meet, where memories are crafted under mountain skies.

About the host
Hosted by Karen Beijer

We’ve been married for over 30 years and live just an hour away from this peaceful retreat, which serves as our second home and one of our favorite places to unwind. Owning this cabin has been a longtime dream, and it’s brought us so much joy to create a comfortable, welcoming space where others can recharge and reconnect—whether with family, nature, or themselves.
We’ve made lasting memories here with our two sons and our dogs, Roxi and Ollie, who especially love hiking nearby trails and splashing in the Broad River. Hosting is our way of sharing the calm and beauty we’ve found in Lake Lure. We hope you enjoy the peace, simplicity, and stillness this place offers, and we kindly ask that you treat our cabin with the same care and respect as if it were your own.

Why they chose this property
Why did you choose this neighborhood?
The moment we entered the Riverbend community, we knew we’d found something special. After more than a year of searching, this peaceful, wooded neighborhood captured our hearts—and we knew it would be the perfect place to create a second home and share with others as a relaxing retreat.
Riverbend feels like a true escape. The gravel roads wind past Mirror Lake, with its charming pavilion, beach, and dock for swimming, fishing, and paddleboarding. Across the road, you’ll find the River Walk, where you can explore the beautiful Broad River, picnic beside giant boulders, or dip into quiet swimming holes near a small waterfall. Just beyond Mirror Lake is Little Mirror Lake, another serene spot with space to relax and enjoy the sounds of nature.
The community is made up of rustic homes, each tucked away with privacy and space—offering that secluded, cabin-in-the-woods feel. Deer and other wildlife are frequent visitors, and we always recommend keeping dogs leashed for their safety.
When we’re here, we never want to leave. And with so much nearby—from zip lining and hiking to wineries, festivals, and even the famous Dirty Dancing lakefront—you just might feel the same way.

What makes this property unique
From the moment we stepped inside, we knew this was the one. The soaring vaulted ceilings and exposed beams gave the space an open, welcoming feel and the handcrafted wagon wheel chandelier fills the room with rustic charm. Anchoring the space is a stunning stone fireplace with a mantle dating back to the 1700s, salvaged from a historic West Virginia cabin. It’s not just a conversation piece—it’s the heart of the home.
Step onto the deck and you’ll enjoy peaceful, seasonal views of Mirror Lake. It’s the perfect spot for morning coffee, an afternoon read, or a glass of wine as the sun sets. We’ve filled the cabin with thoughtful, personal touches—like locally crafted artwork and custom furniture designed by us and built by a talented area woodworker. The console table and writing desk are just a few examples of the handmade quality that gives the space its character.
We’ve worked hard to make this cabin feel like a true retreat. It’s a place where history, comfort, and creativity come together—and we hope you’ll feel that warmth the moment you arrive.
