Bright Glade at Yanakie offers a breathtaking dress circle panorama across farm paddocks towards Corner Inlet and the peaks of Wilsons Promontory, along with comfortable, secluded and very peaceful accommodation for up to seven people, with all bed linen and bath towels supplied.
'Bright Glade' is the English translation of 'Yasnaya Polyana', the name of the the home of Russian author Leo Tolstoy. He was born at Yasnaya Polyana, his wife Sonia gave birth to their 13 children there, he wrote War and Peace and Anna Karenina there, and he also is buried there.
Tolstoy described Yasnaya Polyana as the only place where he felt really at peace.
Like Tolstoy's home, Bright Glade is surrounded by rural land, with a long driveway leading down past a post-and-rail fenced paddock and Australian native trees and shrubs to the house itself and a nearby self-contained bungalow that sleeps two people.
Bright Glade's garden is full of colour and fragrance, with lawns, a timber deck and brick terrace set with outdoor furniture positioned to take best advantage of the wonderful views. There are hammocks available, a carport table tennis table and equipment for badminton and backyard cricket.
There is also a gas barbecue on the sheltered side of the house, and a dam for fishing. The dam is not fenced off, so little children need to be supervised at all times.
The living/dining area has an elevated cathedral ceiling with wood beams, a wood fire and hydronic heating, a ceiling fan, a colour television with DVD and video players and a stereo system and CDs. Next to the living room, and opening out onto the deck, is a cosy sun room.
All around there are full-height picture windows framing the superb view.
Bright Glade's kitchen is equipped with a gas hob and an electric oven, a double sink, a dishwasher, a large refrigerator with a freezer, a microwave oven, a toaster and a kettle and a full array of crockery, cutlery and cooking and serving utensils. There is a bean grinding coffee machine or you can make plunger coffee. Tea towels, dish detergent and cleaning products are provided.
The tiled bathroom/laundry features a hand basin and a shower cubicle, washing machine and a separate toilet next door.
There are two bedrooms in the main house at Bright Glade, with accommodation for two more guests in the separate cabin. The master bedroom has a queen bed and a full-height window to capture the view. The second bedroom has single bunk beds and a single bed. All bedding including electric blankets, bed linen and bath towels are supplied. Please BYO beach towels.
The cabin, built from radial-sawn timber, has a double bed, a kitchenette with a sink, a kettle and toaster and a bar fridge, and a separate bathroom with a shower , a hand basin and a toilet.
Yanakie really is central to the best that South Gippsland has to offer, such as hiking in Wilsons Promontory National Park, fishing in Corner Inlet, windsurfing at Shallow Inlet, swimming and surfing at Sandy Point and Waratah Bay, exploring the picturesque townships of Foster, Fish Creek, Port Franklin, Toora and Walkerville, and experiencing the grandeur of the Strzelecki Ranges.
Your pet is welcome at Bright Glade, with the understanding that it must be kept under effective control at all times and not sleep on the beds or climb onto the furniture. Also, there are no fences separating the garden from the bush, or from the neighbours. You are honour-bound to clean up thoroughly after your pet both inside and out.
Please also note that pets are not allowed into Wilsons Promontory National Park at any time. This means that if you want to go into the Prom, someone has to stay home at the holiday house with the pet.

Lovely property conveniently nearby to Wilson's Prom - entrance just a 5 min drive away! Comfortable accommodation with fantastic views across to the Prom. A nice place to stop and relax, with a few day trips to the Prom or back towards Foster. Kids enjoyed themselves thoroughly.
We really enjoyed the location and setting of the house, which made our stay very private and peaceful. The house was equipped with everything we needed, and the fireplace kept us toasty warm in cold and windy weather. Further instructions to understand the hydronic heating might have been useful, and an update on the check list about the location of the wifi password too. Overall, a lovely characterful place to spend a few days.
Wonderful property with amazing views from inside or out! Peaceful, relaxing and plenty of wildlife to enjoy.
Having the fire in the evenings was a lovely way to end the day.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

So glad you loved Bright Glade. We look forward to having you as a guest again.
The property is beautiful and secluded. The perfect place to relax after a day hiking and exploring Wilson’s Prom which is only a 5 min drive away. The view was beautiful and we enjoyed watching the wallabies in the garden each evening. We especially enjoyed the cabin that came next to the house. It allowed our party to have seperate sleeping and lounging areas while the house was perfect for gathering together together as a family. While the house was clean, it could use a deep clean. The big beautiful windows looked like they haven't been cleaned in a while and we couldn’t find window cleaner to do it yourselves to better enjoy the gorgeous views. There were also cobwebs built up under and behind furniture and in corners and many of the dishes, pots and pans hadn’t been cleaned properly before being put away so we had to wash everything before we used it. This didn’t impact our enjoyment of the space and I still rated it 5 stars but it is something I would expect from a nice rental like this. Otherwise the place is great. I don’t think anyone would be disappointed with their stay here.
We had a lovely relaxing 5 night stay. The views are amazing- the photos do not do it justice! We played board games in front of the fire, read books looking, played darts and did lots of walks in the prom- only minutes away. An excellent stay!
Lovely place to stay for day trips to the Prom. Beautiful view from the back of the house over farmland and the Prom. House was comfortable with a well-equipped kitchen, games and hammocks. No air-con though, so was lucky to have missed the very hot days and there was a (thankfully) brief power outage during our stay.
Thank you for such a wonderful stay at your gorgeous property. The house had everything you could need, and the views of the Prom were just amazing! It was also very useful being so close to the entrance to the Prom, and great being near Yanakie too! We will be back.
Lovely spot (with amazing views and an expansive garden) very close to the Wilsons Prom national park entrance. And very proactive communication from our hosts. Thank you!
Whilst the photos are amazing, the real life version left me lost for words, absolutely breathtaking. Such a beautiful, comfortable home, beds were amazing, Sarah was so great to deal with, I felt so at ease. This place is a hidden gem!
Beautiful property. Our family had a lovely time. Short drive from the beautiful beaches of Wilson’s prom.
Views from property were amazing. Few spiders, flies and little critters around the house which considering the surrounds is to be expected I guess.
Overall we had such a relaxing stay and it was great time spent together as a family. Highly recommend:)
Incredible location and setting. Big space, enough room for everyone. Would suggest a more comfortable mattress on the day bed in the room with the bunk beds, so there is an adequate option for another adult to sleep in, as bunk beds are a little too small for an adult. Beautiful grounds. Price was very expensive for us, but we made it work. Thankyou.

We found a warm and well appointed family hideaway providing magnificent views from ground floor living space. Seperate cabin is also well appointed and dog friendly.
We enjoyed easy access to WP National Park and surrounding beaches and townships.
Although a minor aspect overall, we were dissapointed to heve to clean super large windows in order to fully enjoy glorious views.
