About this property
La Iguana Morada: A/C, WiFi, BioBay, walk to Ferry
Stay with us at beautiful Iguana Morada, 700m walk from the ferry in Isabel Segunda, next to El Fuerte de Vieques. Comfortably walk to town for grocery stores, shopping, and restaurants - you`ll see some on the way home.
The Worlds Brightest Bioluminescent Bay is beyond amazing, and 30 min away. Add some of the world`s best beaches, including a black sand beach to go find! Oh, and did we mention the food?
When you see all Vieques has to offer, you`ll agree - Vieques is worth a multiday stay!
La Iguana Morada is a 3 bedroom 1 bathroom residence: with 1 queen size bedroom with a twin futon, and 2 full size bedrooms. There is also a sofa that can convert into a bed. Mini-split a/c units and ceiling fans in each room makes sure you can keep cool when you want to.
There is no full kitchen, but the `kitchenette` is enough for preparing small meals, but let`s be honest - you didn`t go on vacation so you can cook! Plus, since Vieques has developed a reputation as a `food destination` why not support the local economy and experience the amazing local cuisine?
A spacious and fully screened in porch with tiki-type lights lets you sit outside comfortably, and protects you form the mosquitoes when in season (repellant when exploring?) while trying to count all the iguanas in the treetops with you!
Entire house
La Iguana sits in the lively heart of Isabel Segunda, Vieques’ charming main town. Just a flat 700 m walk from the ferry dock, you’re steps from grocery stores, bakeries, restaurants, bars, and the historic El Fortín del Conde de Mirasol right across the street. Stroll to the plaza for live music, grab fresh seafood on the malecón, or hunt sea glass at nearby beaches. Quiet residential vibe with roaming animals and coqui songs, yet everything you need is within blocks. The perfect walkable, authentic Vieques home base!
Although this property is within a 10 minute walking distance from the ferry, it is recommended to get a rental car to navigate your way around the entire island. The island itself is 20 miles long by 4.5 miles wide . There’s a lot to see and do and most of the beaches are located within the wildlife preserve which can only be reached by car. The landscape of Vieques is also not flat , there are hills that some people with limitations may find difficult to navigate. We suggest renting a car to get around the island with ease .
*** Please buy ferry tickets in advance as they sell out quickly!! *** They can be purchased online at Puerto Rico ferry approximately 2 months in advance. Vieques is only accessible by ferry, or small plane
Google maps is the most accurate navigation application to use in Puerto Rico . Apple Maps is not accurate . A lot of homes in Vieques do not have street addresses or postal addresses
Animals roam freely in Vieques. Horses, dogs, cats, chickens, iguanas all roam freely. Even on roads, maybe in restaurants, or possibly on the beach with you! There will be sounds of nature - such as coqui frogs chirping and roosters crowing everywhere whenever they choose, including at the house, in our trees, on our roof, etc. **Please be aware - we cannot stop coqui from chirping or roosters from crowing, so we put sound machines in the bedrooms to help with the sound for those unaccustomed, and light sleepers. We also supply earplugs if you choose.
Vieques is not a flat landscape, the AirBNB is located halfway up an incline which may be difficult to walk for certain people. Please consider renting a car or using a taxi if you have heavy luggage or any physical limitations. A car is also a great way to get to all the amazing beaches Vieques has to offer, and some of the restaurants too, especially when considering a multiday stay. Although fun, we prefer a car to a golf cart; they go farther and faster, which actually makes them safer (must be 4`8` for a golf cart!)
Vieques is located closer to the equator. The average temperature is between 79-82 degrees , but during the summer months it may feel hotter. Please stay hydrated and dress appropriately for the climate to avoid overheating . Hats , sun glasses, and lightweight clothing would be the best for this area. WEAR SUNSCREEN! With the island being so close to the equator, the powerful rays of the sun can burn you more quickly here. Also , don’t forget to pack your bug spray of choice! Despite our fumigation efforts , mosquitoes remain on the island everywhere you go and unfortunately can be an unavoidable nuisance of this Caribbean island. **** Please read our cancellation policy carefully before booking , we DO NOT OFFER REFUNDS FOR ANY REASONS****

Liked the place a lot, it was clean and unique place. The screen porch is so nice. We went out in the morning and was able to find 12 iguanas in the trees.
Need to bring ear plugs to Vieques. Wyatt we worked have known that before arriving, the chickens here crow all night and it is hard to sleep. This is not the owners fault, just that there are so many chickens.
Bay was great and the food in the island fantastic!!
