About this property
Two Blocks to Beach Vintage House with Tranquil Garden
Summary:
Darrs Beach Cottage
The Space:
Come visit the sleepy little town of Neskowin and stay at this charming, laid-back one bedroom cottage. You and your family can spend relaxing days lounging out on the wrap-around deck, walking down to the beach, and enjoying the slower pace of life on the Oregon coast.
Enter through a vintage blue door and into the homey and open living room, dining room, and kitchen area. There are tall, slanted wood ceilings, comfortable furniture, and a wood burning fireplace to keep you warm and toasty on chilly coast nights. Just pop the popcorn and gather the family around for a night of board games or watching DVDs. There's even a DVD library if you forget to pack your favorites from home.
The cheery and eclectic kitchen is well-stocked with a refrigerator, oven and stovetop, microwave, tea kettle, and coffeemaker -- everything you need to enjoy a great meal. There isn't a dishwasher but hey, even doing dishes can be fun when you're on vacation!
You can savor your meals on a one-of-a-kind bottle-cap mosaic table designed by the owner and her grandchildren! The dining room area also has large picture windows for great views of the scenic, quiet neighborhood. There's also a breakfast bar with four stools for grabbing a quick bite to eat in the morning before heading out for a day of coastal adventures.
The bedroom has a queen sized bed, reading lamps, and cozy bedding. A twin rollaway bed is stored in the closet, and can easily be set up in the living room by the full-sized sofa bed. Two adults and up to three children can very comfortably enjoy this family getaway. You'll even find an outdoor shower so you can rinse your feet clean after a day at the beach!
The bathroom is bright and colorful, with handmade tiles and custom artwork. A roomy bathtub is the perfect size for a relaxing bubble bath: just lay back, have a glass of wine, and admire the bathroom's crafty charm. Right across from the bathroom is a high efficiency washer and dryer so you can keep everyone in clean and warm socks after a day playing in the sand.
As cute and quirky as the inside of this delightful cottage is, you'll find yourself spending a lot of time outside! Right out the door is a wonderful deck with comfy chairs, a picnic table, and fire pit for toasting marshmallows. There's also a quirky birdhouse collection and lots of lush green grass for kids. The fenced back yard is a very nice place to turn the kids loose to explore and play while preparing dinner on the gas grill. You'll find that this laid back community is really all about family fun. After dinner, head out on a walk around the neighborhood or spend the afternoons riding bikes down the quiet, residential streets.
If you take a stroll just two blocks west, you'll find yourself on the peaceful, uncrowded beach with miles and miles of coast to explore. Take your shoes and socks off and walk along the surf while you hunt for shells and pieces of agate. For golfers, the Neskowin Golf Course is mere blocks from the house, and for art lovers, the Hawk Creek Gallery is also nearby.
Many other shopping, entertainment, and dining options are plentiful in the nearby towns of Pacific City, about 15 minutes north and Lincoln City, 20 minutes to the south. Back in Neskowin, local favorite Hawk Creek Cafe is re-opening in July 2013 and located only blocks from the house. Darrs Beach Cottage is a special home base for enjoying this unassuming little beach town, perfect to help you slow down and enjoy some time together as a family!

The home was clean, and yes, the decor is quirky, but it adds to the charm. Yes there were stuffies hanging in the bathroom, I had no intention of cuddling them so that was fine. There is wood around a curved bathtub out to the straight molding. There was a de-humidifier, I didn’t think it was a big deal. We used the washer and dryer, no issues. Basically the things I read after booking this that made me a bit leery, didn’t end up being an issue. The beef was comfy and the sheets were fine. It was very convenient to the beach and close to other beach towns to visit. We would stay again.
This was our 2nd stay at this proper, its comfortable, quiet and located centrally between beach, Provisions and Night Hawk Cafe.

Liked: Location
Disliked: Cleanliness, listing accuracy
Great location, inexpensive, but rent at your own risk. Several issues with the house's contents give the impression that it is dirty and that guests are not welcome. First, we were hit with a very strong mold/mildew odor upon entering. Later, I found a moisture absorber in the bedroom. There is no wifi. I reviewed the listing again and did not see it listed under amenities. However, this is such a common amenity that it is worth noting in the description. The toilet wobbles and appears to have been repaired with foam. There is a lot of clutter from old, used stuffed animals and other knick-knacks collecting dust, and a note to touch with your eyes. The tub appears to be leaking, and a repair has been attempted with wood and silicone putty. There is a note written on the fridge in permanent marker to watch the floor in front of it, and a pan on the top shelf to catch water, leaving little space for food. The produce drawers are missing. The freezer is rigged with wood and silicone. The bedding and pillows are old and very worn. Based on past reviews, it is clear these problems have persisted for some time without being addressed. Finally, there is a note from the owners shaming guests for complaining about the issues noted above, blaming the shabby interior on guests who have damaged things in the past, and stating that repairs are too expensive. As a former Superhost, I find this offensive. If you don't want people in your house, don't rent it out.
Charming Nautical decor, relaxing and close to beach. We stayed 6 nights but wish it was longer planning on being back in the spring for our anniversary
We wanted some family beach time and this was perfect. Very eccentric home, with all the comfort of home. Steps from the beach, dinning or quick drive to Lincoln city.
This house is perfect for our needs. It is close to the beach, the store, the cafe, the ice cream truck. It has a great yard and deck for social distancing gatherings. We will definitely stay here again😃

We really appreciate your great review and are glad that you and your pups were able to enjoy your stay with us. See you next time!
This was a decent budget value for 1-3 people. Could do with a few more basic amenities like a coat rack, box of tissues, and new tea kettle (current is rusty). Overall the stay was nice and the location was hard to beat but the musty odor and lack of comforts made it a one-time stay.

We loved the pirate/mermaid theme. We thought there would be internet, but there wasn't. You can walk to the beach, deli and cafe.

A perfect home for a couple's beach getaway.
My husband and I stayed here during the 2017 Total Solar Eclipse. The house was comfortable, open, and felt like home. The location is what drew us here and it did not disappoint. The house is literally 2 blocks from Neskowin Beach just a short stroll away. A quiet, family oriented beach that provided the relaxing getaway we needed.

There was a lot of unique nick knacks inside the property and out. This is a fun place for kids and adults who enjoy novelty. The property had a musty odor upon entry and there were some stains on the pillowcases.
Great location! It is quiet and close to beach. So cute and beautiful yard. A short walk to beach and also to Tillamook ice cream Truck or store and restaurant. It was great for my friend, her 9 yo boy and me and my 7 yo grandson. We had the best time. It is also close to Pacific City Beach. Perfect for our little trip.

Cozy rainy weekend by the fire
We loved the quiet beauty of Neskowin and the coziness of Darr's Beach House. We had hard-driving rain and sand-filled wind most of the weekend, but we enjoyed playing cards by the fire, watching the Olympics, cooking in, and bundling up to venture out. The beach house has lots of touches that make it welcoming, the wood fireplace was wonderful, the bed very comfortable. We had everything we needed for a quiet weekend away.
We loved this property and especially the location? The beach in Neskowin is by far the most beautiful, tranquil beach we've been to on the west coast. The cottages around, including this one, are picturesque to say the least. The property is clean and the green space outside is wonderful! Outdoor shower with hot water! Everything was perfect. I do wish Vacasa would provide things like coffee and salt but whatever. Great little cafe too.

Very relaxing.
My husband and I had a nice, quiet weekend at this one bedroom home. Convenient to the beach and the small store in Neskowin. The house was very comfortable, except for being chilly on a foggy morning--would have been nice to know the heat is set at 65 degrees and can't be changed. It had the basics for eating in, though no wi-fi. A nice place for a beach getaway.
My wife and I enjoyed this unique comfortable home with the close proximity to the beach. Neskowin is indeed an Oregon coast pearl. One suggestion, update the teflon frying pans (see Duponts black water film). We look forward to returning to Neskowin with our children and grandchildren next year.
Booking was quite quick and efficient. Website pics were precisely correct.A charming whimsical place two minutes from beach. No one is a stranger and everyone waves at you. Having Captain Jack hanging from the ceiling and having Captain Morgan in a glass made for a fun pirate weekend!!!! AAAARRRHH!
