Just as described. Beds were very comfortable. Great water pressure in showers. We spent a long weekend here while visiting the Shawnee Wine Trail and this was close to everything we needed. Would definitely stay again!
Kayla was quick to answer any questions. Her description of the place is very accurate. Beautifully remodeled. Spacious. Comfortable beds. We rented because it's the perfect location if you want to explore Giant City and Ferne Clyffe. We didn't have time this time but there are numerous parks and biking trails nearby. I highly recommend it.
Older farmhouse but comfy and had everything we needed for our stay. I would recommend without hesitation

About the host
Hosted by Kayla
I’m a single mom and a high school science teacher with a big dream. This property is a passion project of mine, and my goal is to slowly transform it into a peaceful vacation retreat where people can come unplug and enjoy the beauty of the Southern Illinois countryside.
Hosting allows me to continue improving and remodeling the property so each guest can enjoy a comfortable, welcoming space. With continued support, I hope to eventually offer amenities like space for guests to bring their horses and camp near the stocked pond at the back of the property.
This place has already come a long way with an almost complete remodel, and I take pride in sharing it with guests who appreciate nature, relaxation, and a quiet escape. I truly enjoy hosting and helping others create memorable stays in a setting that means so much to me.
Please Note: 📝
We’re also still making improvements to the exterior of the home, so please pardon any unfinished touches outside. We're glad to share this relaxing space with you and truly appreciate your understanding!
While the home is close to town, it's still in a rural setting—so you may notice an occasional bug or two, especially depending on the season. We do our best to keep everything clean and comfortable for our guests!
WiFi is available, though please note it may be slower at times due to our rural location—even though we’re close to town. It generally works well!
Why they chose this property
The home is nestled in a quiet, relaxing country setting where you can truly unwind and enjoy the natural beauty of Southern Illinois. It’s the perfect place to slow down, take in the scenery, and enjoy the peace and open space around you.
What I love most is that while it feels like a rural escape, the property is just a few minutes from town. Guests have easy access to shopping, delicious local restaurants, and the unique charm of a small Southern Illinois community. It’s the best of both worlds—country calm with town conveniences close by.
What makes this property unique
What truly sets this property apart is the combination of peaceful country living and thoughtful, ongoing care. The home sits in a beautiful Southern Illinois setting that feels like a true escape, yet it’s still conveniently close to town for dining, shopping, and local attractions.
The property has undergone an almost complete remodel, with comfort and functionality in mind, while still preserving the charm of the countryside. Guests can enjoy open space, quiet surroundings, and views that invite relaxation—something you don’t often find paired with modern updates.
This is more than just a place to stay; it’s a growing retreat. Each visit helps support continued improvements, with plans to expand outdoor experiences like enjoying the stocked pond and, eventually, welcoming guests who travel with their horses. It’s a unique stay designed for those who appreciate nature, comfort, and a personal touch.
