This year our grandchildren came as well and they are the fourth generation to vacation at Sand Cay. We love the area and we had a nice vacation. We did notice the rentals have become a bit dated although they provided what we needed. Our unit was not very clean and several pieces of furniture were in need of repair. It did lack a few things that would be helpful in the kitchen but we managed.

The dishwasher was broken and it couldn't be fixed during our stay. The windows were filthy and it took away from the beautiful view. However, the general cleanliness of the units was very, very good. The bathrooms were very clean as well as the kitchen. But they really need to invest in some new mattresses!

Nicely situated condo. Ground and building exterior well maintained and in excellent shape. Amenities accurate as listed. Kitchen was fine with newer basic appliances. Overall condition is tired. In need of updated bathrooms or at a minium, a good cleaning of molded grout. Beds are old and need to be replaced. Twin beds are child-sized, not suitable for teens or adults, and like sleeping on a concrete slab. Walls and ceilings are not soundproofed enough to muffle residents upstairs.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: During our stay encountered many issues with our unit. The unit was very outdated which led to our issues. Extra bed (sofa bed) broken which led to using an air mattress for a week, outlets smoking, toilets not flushing properly. All linens were old as well as bedroom furniture. All in all this unit needs to be taken off the rental program until a complete overhaul of the condo is complete. Not worth the money when you can stay next door at a resort for same price.

There was a broken cabinet door in the kitchen, the blind over the kitchen window was broken. As far as tv service it sucked in the bedrooms as well as the mattresses. The towel bar in the master bath was cracked that someone would cut their hand on it . There were no floor fans to mask the noise from upstairs nor did the overhead fan work correctly. I would have rented another unit if the property manager had steered me to. We were very disappointed and uncomfortable the entire stay!!️

Just steps from beach

This was a short notice trip for us and we had never been to Longboat Key before. We were not disappointed! The complex was beautiful and was not a huge, commercialized complex. The unit was as close to the beach as you could get with stunning gulf views. We just walked straight out to the beach! The pics are exactly what the unit looks like. There was plenty of room for us in the unit and it looked like the owners are working on updates. The kitchen had been beautifully remodeled and had everything we needed, except maybe a larger skillet and a few larger coffee mugs. A Keurig would have been nice, but that’s a personal preference. There were two sitting areas with very comfortable couches and windows all along the back and side. The bedrooms and bathrooms were kind of small but they worked for us. Being on the first floor, we were worried about hearing people above us, but the unit was quiet. The complex was well kept and everyone was very nice. Beach lounge chairs and beach towels were available for free. We loved exploring the nearby town with its shops and restaurants, and taking long walks on the beach. We will definitely be back to this charming little place!

Soon as we got there and sat on bed, a table lamp fell off the wall. we reported it next day, they said maintenance would fix it, they never came. items for beach were all in bad shape, umbrella had no matching pieces, so we had to buy some, cooler was broken. starter items provided are extremely cheap for what you pay, cheapest toilet paper, coffee, etc. Also, would be nice to at least provide a couple bottles of water and welcome snack, got there late, nothing open, absolutely nothing to eat or drink in unit. We were here for wedding, I would stay somewhere else for price.

Well stocked with towels, kitchen appliances and supplies. There was even a pop-up tent we could use. The master had a wonderfully comfortable bed. The guest room has two twin beds that had no mattress cover and felt like you are laying on box springs. The most uncomfortable bed I have ever been on. There were two of us sharing the room, so we opted to try the pull-out couch a different night. Same torture. It would really be a deal breaker to go back and stay there again if there is not a change. That was our only complaint. Absolutely loved the location!

Cold and rainy witch turned out to be a blessing because the tenant next to use came out screaming at my wife and family while we were on the shared porch. So with bad weather we were able to go do other stuff around the island and surrounding area. All of the other people staying at the resort and the staff that I met were wonderful. Unfortunately the bad experience with the way the condos are set up with shared porches on certain units means we will not be back.
