We were very pleased with the cabin. We were in town for the catfish derby so the location was perfect. I wanted you to know we did not use the front two beds. Everyone had sleeping bags. So they Didn't get used. The back bedroom was used. We pulled the bedclothes for you. A couple of your bathroom towels were used. And I'm grateful you had supplied a few items. I'd forgotten salt and pepper. We plan to come back soon.

Very disappointing experience. The listing presented this property as a peaceful, relaxing lake getaway, but what we encountered was significantly different from the impression created by the photos and description. The immediate surroundings were extremely run-down and dated, and the lake had substantial visible algae, which greatly diminished the lakefront experience we believed we were booking. We also specifically chose this property because it was advertised as “pet friendly” and we brought our dogs with us. However, Clear Lake can experience harmful algal blooms that may produce toxins dangerous to dogs, particularly if they swim in or drink the water. Given the visible algae, we did not feel comfortable allowing our dogs anywhere near the lake, which made the advertised lake experience even less usable for us.After only a few hours at the property, we were uncomfortable enough with the overall situation that we chose to leave that same evening rather than stay for the weekend. We contacted the owner promptly, explained why we were leaving, and requested a refund for the unused portion of our reservation. Despite the fact that we left within hours of arrival and did not use the remainder of the stay, the owner declined to provide a refund. For us, the reality of the property and setting did not come close to matching the expectations created by the listing. I strongly recommend that anyone considering this rental—especially anyone traveling with pets—independently
