Alas. I'm full of shame for a pie-less stay. They checked in on an usual day of week (monday) when best pie lady has day off. I made the mistake of letting my guests know - and then promptly forgot all about getting one Tuesday. They reminded me on their last night - too late for recovery - they got the best molasses cookies. I'll never live it down. They were lovely guests otherwise - took all the advice and then explored intrepidly to make the most of their week. They'd be welcome back any time for me to try and improve on my service levels. ;)

Thank you for your stay and your comments. Yes - two flights (to floor 3) - but then the views over the harbor are fabulous and most guests there feel it's worth it. I was a bit surprised about the stove which is full sized on that floor (apartment sized on floor 2) - and it's like a lot of things in the building - in perfect condition (practically never used by guests) and vintage like me. Ruthie accepts the compliments - she has enjoyed the guests as much as they her. Come again soon.

Thank you so much for your review - it was pretty clear you didn't want to go! The great pleasure of the place has been in meeting people like you - who are open to suggestions and enthusiastic about the place - and our little piece of heaven on earth. The location is the best in town - as I'm told over an over again and you took full advantage of it - and the apartment is quite comfortable - but there's always things I'll need to do - it's an old building with lots of charm (a euphemism for "projects"). I have to laugh about the "accent" comment as I am (as I explained) from Boston and a Mainer would be offended if I didn't make that clear (!). And, mea culpa, there is no iron (I am fearful of fires) and did have a steamer (for those pesky rinkles) - but the truth is no one asks any more. The twin beds are as advertised and have been quite popular with Sisters, friends traveling together... etc... and I've been asked to stick with them (and they're antique frames - like me - so they don't join together well). Guests who want a queen bed are encouraged to rent 500093 in the same building. You both were a lot of fun and I really enjoyed meeting you in what is, in-the-end, a personal relationship between a homeowner and his guests. And you left the place spotlessly!

I am so glad that we could be the place for your escape from Houston heat. Yes, thank you for reminding people that there are stairs to navigate and once settled you can't get much better views over our classic harbor. And thank you for taking time to write a review - so many others have said the same things in person in our busy summer - but saying it on line really helps.

Thank you for your kind words. As others will note, when there is a time between other reservations in high season that is less than 7 days I may allow shorter stays on a case-by-case basis. I knew from our discussions that you both needed this getaway and I hope that you can come back for a longer stay soon.
