- Museum-Grade Lighting: Every nicho is equipped with professional low-voltage lighting, casting a warm, curated glow over our collection of global art throughout the night.

- Photographic Design: From the gleaming white polished cement floors to the traditional kiva fireplace, every corner of this home was designed to be captured and remembered.

- Materials: Dramatic Italian granite countertops paired with elegant French white oak cabinetry.

- Appliances: Professional LG & KitchenAid suite, including a sleek glass-top electric range (ideal for precision cooking).

- Details: Handwoven Moroccan rugs add warmth to the dining area, creating the perfect backdrop for a long, memorable dinner.

SPA-INSPIRED BATHROOMS
Three full bathrooms offer a tactile, luxurious experience:

- Finishes: Hand-applied Italian micro-cement and custom cashmere-cream granite sink boxes.

- The Primary Bath: Features an oversized soaking tub, designed for unwinding with a glass of wine after a day of exploring high-desert trails.

THE BACKYARD OASIS & AMENITIES
Rare for a city-center home, The Nicho House offers a large, private, fully-walled backyard:

- Relax: A premium hot tub sits under the famous New Mexico stars.

- Gather: Swap stories around the firepit or enjoy a game of cornhole on the lawn.

- Work: High-speed Wi-Fi throughout makes this an ideal "Work-from-Home" creative retreat.

Saachi was a great host. We were his first guests at his newly renovated home in Santa Fe. The home was beautifully redone. The home is in a great location, very close to the city center and activities. Sacchi was super responsive to us during our visit.

Our group of four had a wonderful stay at the Nicho house. The layout of the home is both great for gathering but also allows privacy for sleeping or quiet time.

About the host

Your host

Host profile image
G’day! I’m an Australian who grew up in the magical, artistic world of Bali, Indonesia, before heading to Los Angeles for high school and eventually landing in Santa Fe. My life has been shaped by a blend of cultures, and that shows in every corner of this home.

I’m passionate about creating spaces that feel alive—ones that shift beautifully with the light throughout the day, yet still look stunning over time. This 80-year-old adobe, with its 50+ custom nichos turned into curated galleries, is the ultimate expression of that love. Each bedroom tells its own story through global art and objects I’ve collected from my travels: African sculptures, American ceramics, Balinese masks, and a heartfelt tribute to Santa Fe’s heritage.

Travel is my biggest joy and ongoing mission—I’m determined to visit every country on Earth! Hosting lets me share a little piece of that wanderlust with you, while giving you a peaceful, inspiring base to explore Santa Fe and beyond.

I love meeting fellow travelers, hearing your stories, and making sure your stay feels special. Whether you’re here for the art scene, the history, or just to relax under the stars in the hot tub, I’m here to help make it unforgettable.
Looking forward to welcoming you!

Why they chose this property

I fell in love with Santa Fe the moment I saw its iconic flat roofs and the enchanting, almost magical quality of its adobe architecture. There’s something timeless and soulful about the way these earthy buildings blend into the high-desert landscape, with their soft, rounded corners and projecting wooden vigas casting beautiful shadows as the light changes throughout the day.

Adobe is one of the oldest building materials in the world—used for thousands of years—and I was drawn here to learn more about its history, craftsmanship, and incredible natural properties. This 80-year-old adobe home (originally a beloved corner store) became the perfect place to immerse myself in that legacy while reimagining it with modern luxury. The thick walls keep things cool in summer and cozy in winter, and the flat roofs honor the region’s arid climate while creating that signature Santa Fe silhouette against the big blue sky.

Living here has deepened my appreciation for spaces that feel alive and connected to their surroundings—exactly what I strive to create for every guest.

What makes this property unique

A Rare Architectural Achievement In Santa Fe’s oldest neighborhoods, most historic adobes are "compartmentalized"—charming, but often dark and cramped. The Nicho House breaks that mold. Originally an 80-year-old local corner store, we have transformed it through a bold engineering feat: removing two massive load-bearing adobe walls.

To preserve the historic flat-roof silhouette while opening the space, we introduced exposed steel beams. This rare structural contrast allows for a breathtaking, seamless flow between the kitchen, dining, and living areas—a level of open-concept space that is almost never found in authentic 80-year-old adobe homes.

The "Nicho House" Aesthetic What you see here is a "living museum" that blends centuries-old tradition with ultra-contemporary luxury:

The Light: Gleaming white polished cement floors catch the shifting New Mexico sun, creating a bright, airy sanctuary.

The Gallery: Over 50 custom-built nichos - more than any other private home in the city - are reimagined with museum-grade lighting, turning every wall into a curated art gallery.

The Scale: While most historic rentals feel "cozy," The Nicho House feels expansive. You get the soul of a 1940s adobe with the 9ft island, open layout, and high-design finishes of a modern estate.

The Best of Both Worlds Usually, you have to choose: a historic home that is small and dark, or a new build that lacks soul. The Nicho House is the exception. It is history reimagined as modern magic - perfect for those who want the warmth of Santa Fe heritage without sacrificing space, light, or luxury.
