FLAT #3, Quinnimont - Lafayette Flats Boutique Vacation Rentals is four modern vacation rentals in one historic building. This listing is for Flat #3, Quinnimont which is found on the third floor. Walk up the 42 stairs through the airy art-filled stairwell to reach your beautiful flat (please note: there is no elevator in this historic building). Quinnimont is designed to luxuriously accommodate two adults, as are all four vacation rentals at Lafayette Flats.

BEDROOM – Have a relaxing night’s sleep on the medium/firm queen-size Tempur-Pedic mattress with 100% cotton sheets, four pillows (two flat and two fluffy), and an alternative down all-season duvet with a cotton duvet cover. Room-darkening blinds and curtains provide privacy. There is a smart TV in the bedroom with complimentary Netflix. Electric and USB outlets are conveniently located on both bedside tables to keep your phone close by while you both recharge after an adventurous day.

BATHROOM – Twin pedestal sinks, a generous soaker tub, and a tiled shower await you in Quinnimont’s spacious bathroom. Each vacation rental at Lafayette Flats has its own hot water tank, so you can enjoy a hot bath or a long shower – or both! Enjoy William Roam hand soap, body wash, shampoo, conditioner, bath salts, and bar soap (all sulfate & paraben fee). A makeup mirror, hair dryer and 100% cotton bath towels and linens are provided to ensure you look and feel your best.

LIVING SPACE – Enjoy the abundant natural light streaming through the large windows that frame a stunning view of the picturesque Fayette County Courthouse. The comfortable living area has a sofa, desk, table, lamps, and smart TV. Dine at the kitchen high-top table.

KITCHEN – Prepare simple or complex meals in the small but fully functional kitchen with all utensils and wares provided, including a refrigerator, electric range stove and oven, toaster, and microwave. Fiestaware table settings and glassware are provided as are salt, pepper, and olive oil. Enjoy filtered water from the Brita pitcher in your refrigerator.

COFFEE & TEA SERVICE – Savor the flavor of locally-roasted coffee provided exclusively to Lafayette Flats guests in the 12 cup Cuisinart coffee maker or French press. A kettle and assortment of gourmet teas and tisanes as well as creamer, sugar and Truvia are also provided.

MEDIA & DATA – With 500+ mbps Wi-Fi, you can work remotely or relax while streaming Netflix on the complimentary account. Enjoy your favorite music on the Bluetooth speaker.

LOCATION & COMMUNITY - Lafayette Flats is in the center of the charming small town of Fayetteville. Park your car and relax, you are just steps away from shops, pubs, and restaurants. You’ll find a New River Gorge National Park trailhead at Fayetteville Town Park and the visitors center is a five-minute drive away. There is a local guidebook and trail guide in your flat.

IMMERSIVE EXPERIENCES – Lafayette Flats is more than just a collection of award-winning vacation rentals, it’s an experience. The love and labor Amy and Shawn poured in to renovating this building shows in every aspect from the comfort of the furnishings to the obvious support they have for local artists. We stayed here over the Fourth of July weekend and had a great time despite the recent flooding. This was our second trip to Fayetteville, WV and we will certainly be back to stay at the Flats. You can tell the attention to detail that went into the flats and they've certainly thought of everything. From the bath salts, to the well appointed kitchen, to the local artwork and books. Amy went above and beyond, providing a list of holiday activities and even a list of closures due to the storm. Lafayette Flats is an excellent place for a couple to stay. It’s convenient to local tourists sights, immaculately clean, tastefully decorated and stocked with high end supplies. We loved the historic old building and easy walks to a couple of unique locally owned breakfasts locations. I would recommend to any couple looking for a relaxing getaway stay. The only negative we found was that dinner locations are limited through the week. Several interesting dinner locations don’t open until Thursday. Everything else was very much to our liking.

Extremely unique property (in a very good way)

Fayetteville likes to claim (for good reason) that it is the coolest small town, and Lafayette Flats has to be the coolest accommodations in Fayetteville. My wife and I agreed that this rental had to be one of the most unique short-term rentals that we every had. The property was immaculately clean, and the unit was well furnished and stocked. But it was the incredible artwork and impeccable taste that the owners displayed that really stood out We would definitely come back if we return to the New River Gorge area.

My girlfriend and I stayed in the Quinnimont for her birthday weekend and the flat could not have been more perfect. Amy even left us a bottle of Prosecco to celebrate. In addition to the flat being well kept and designed, it's conveniently located for walking to restaurants in Fayetteville. We spent the weekend hiking and caving, and it was such a treat to return back each night to this stunning apartment and tempurpedic mattress. At the end of an exhausting day, the Lafayette Flats are the perfect place to relax.

Incredible property. Not a traditional B&B. There is no breakfast served, or common areas. instead you stay in a renovated full-sized one bedroom apartment with full, modern kitchen, spa-like bath, and all the modern amenities that one could hope for. There are local books, photo albums, resources/guides, media, and other resources available to guests at no charge. Great location (walking distance to shops and restaurants in town), extremely well run, and pretty much perfect unless you actually like getting up early while on vacation to experience the awkward company and conversation of strangers at breakfast.

Perfect change up for a out of town date night

Everything was great! We stayed just one night. Within walking distance to several coffee shops, bars, boutiques and vintage stores. Everything was as described and pictured. They have everything you need, plenty of linens. We took advantage of the board games! The only thing I could say negative is the bed is definitely for people who like a firm mattress. It is made of memory foam but it was a little too firm to our liking. It would also be nice to have a king size bed in there instead. Everything else was perfect! Thank you so much!

I'm Amy and my husband's name is Shawn. We were both born and raised in Charleston, WV, where we still live and we both work for the same non-profit organization. Charleston is only about one hour from Fayetteville, so lucky for us, the best vacation spot in West Virginia is close by.

Lafayette Flats began with our simple desire to get out of town. We found out early in our relationship that we travel together well and we love to do it as often as we can. We love taking weekend driving trips to places like Asheville, Columbus, Charlotte and Louisville, and we've been all over our home state of West Virginia.

Many years ago we drove across the country on Route 66 and last fall we toured Northern California - Yosemite, Redwoods, Wine Country - we loved it all. But big trips are few and far between, so we satisfy our travelin' Jones by making the drive up to Fayetteville as often as we can. Maybe it's the Bacon Jam at The Secret Sandwich Society or the breathtaking views from Long Point Trail, but something keeps us coming back again and again.

We looked for a small apartment in Fayetteville that we could rent, just to have a home base where we could escape to on weekends but found nothing suitable. After months of searching, we decided to take on a project where we could build our own space. We looked at several opportunities, but the one that caught our eye was the historic building on the corner of Court Street and Wiseman Avenue - known as 'The Malcolm Building.' This building was built in 1906 to house The Bank of Fayette and is on the National Register of Historic Places as part of Fayetteville's Historic District.

We spent the summer and fall of 2013 renovating the building - doing much of the work ourselves. We are eager to show off our space!

Why they chose this property

Our love for Fayetteville and the New River Gorge area caused us to something we had never done before: We bought and renovated this historic cut stone building, transforming the top two floors into four apartment-style vacation rentals. Quinnimont is one of four flats in the building and the one that we call our second home.

Since it is on the Historic Registry, we were very intentional in our renovation plan to leave the building intact as much as possible. Originally built to be an office building, each floor only had one common bathroom and the heating in the building was hot water radiators. Since it was built before electricity, the electrical system was a hodgepodge of makeshift circuits and ancient fuse boxes. Along with these negatives, though, were a lot of positives: The beautiful original woodwork is still there and the fortress-like construction means that the building is very sturdy. The beautiful cut-stone exterior looks exactly like it did when it was built a century ago.

Our renovation plans preserved the woodwork and the basic configuration of the building. Installing a new electrical system and the plumbing necessary to support two additional bathrooms and kitchens was done in such a way as not to change the character of the building. Fire codes made us make some alterations to doorways, but overall the building looks as it has for the last century.

But in spite of the ancient spaces of this small town former bank building, the interior design is chic, modern and urban. We want to offer visitors to Fayetteville something completely different from the campsites, cabins and large vacation home rentals available in the area. Furnished with all the comforts of home and decorated to the nines with local original art and many unique design elements, this is not your typical vacation rental! We want you to more than just feel at home - we want you to wish that you lived here!

Our efficient booking process, high cleaning standards and luxurious amenities are what you find in an upscale hotel, but we have no front desk to slow you down and you can relax without the daily intrusion of cleaning staff.

Our downtown location right across from the beautiful Fayette County Courthouse allows our guests to park their car and relax. Lafayette Flats is close walking distance from all the great shops, restaurants and pubs Fayetteville has to offer and a very short drive to all the NRG trails and adventure activities.

But it’s the interior of Lafayette Flats that’s really special. Throughout all four of our boutique vacation rentals, we showcase original, contemporary WV art and we have a library full of books about WV and by WV authors.
