About this property
Charming Kentfield Cottage
Set on a quiet, sun-dappled 1.25-acre property in Marin County’s charming town of Kentfield, this cottage-style family home offers sweeping views of open space and surrounding hills. The setting feels removed and peaceful, yet just minutes from Kentfield’s local shops, restaurants, and nearby towns. The recently renovated interiors feel layered and lived-in, blending color, antiques, and warm brass details. Walk down the driveway and you are steps from an extensive network of hiking and biking trails. This is an ideal summer rental home for families with young children seeking views, thoughtful design, and access to the outdoors, while still being close to the shops, cafés, and small-town life that make Kentfield so special.
HOME DETAILS: The home includes four bedrooms, three full bathrooms, and a powder room located off the main living area, arranged for relaxed family living. Two bedrooms feature private en-suite baths, while the other two share a full bathroom. The home is especially kid-friendly, with one bedroom intentionally designed to flex as a playroom if that’s more appealing. Bedrooms are spaced for privacy, while the living areas are open and designed for gathering, whether for meals, games, or quiet evenings together. Two French doors open to a spacious porch and large deck with a long dining table, a cozy outdoor sofa, and a Traeger-style grill, creating an easy indoor–outdoor living space for summer barbecues and warm Kentfield evenings. There are plenty of areas for kids to play both indoors and out, including a treehouse perched near the house.
THINGS TO KNOW:
Minimum stay: 7 nights. Longer stays are warmly welcomed, and a full-summer booking is ideal.
Housekeeping: A trusted housekeeper is available to visit 1x week during your stay ($100 per visit).
Parking: Driveway parking for up to 3 cars, with additional street parking available for visiting friends and family.
ABOUT THE LOCATION: The house is located in Kentfield, one of the most charming towns in Marin County. The area is ideal for families and is a short distance from everyday offerings in Kentfield as well as the neighboring towns of Ross and Larkspur. Across these three towns, there is a wide selection of popular restaurants, ice cream shops, an old-time movie theater and local stores. There are several playgrounds and sports courts for different ages nearby, along with public swimming pools available for a daily or seasonal fee (Bay Club).
The trail at the end of the driveway connects directly to King Mountain, the Crown Road trailhead, and the greater Mount Tamalpais trail system. Other nearby day-trip destinations include Sausalito (20 minutes), Muir Beach (30 minutes), Point Reyes (40 minutes), and Stinson Beach (45 minutes). Wine country is under an hour away. San Francisco is approximately 30 minutes away, and the airport is about one hour away.
GETTING AROUND: From the driveway, you can walk or bike directly onto the extensive network of trails that connect to thousands of miles of hiking and biking routes throughout Marin, making it possible to spend entire days immersed in nature without ever getting in the car. The home is less than 5 minutes drive to Woodlands Market, Guesthouse and Ross Park, and a 5 minute drive to downtown Larkspur—all of which are easily bikeable as well. Highway 101 is less than 10 minutes away, making regional trips and day outings straightforward when needed.
