Perched near the peak of Screamer Mountain, located approximately 5 minutes’ drive from the town of Clayton, GA, Charming Cabin overlooks the valley that lies between Screamer Mountain and Black Rock Mountain. This cabin is fully furnished and available for a minimum 30-day rental. The setting on the mountain affords views of Black Rock Mountain and seasonal views of the town of Clayton. This cabin is a wonderful place to relax or reconnect with friends and family. Sitting on the screened porch feels as if you are perched in the trees, you can relax to the sounds of the breeze and the songs of birds and as the day progresses to evening and night-time the sounds become that of tree frogs and crickets. Someone commented once that "it feels like we are sitting in the trees and are looking down at the squirrels!" The proximity to downtown Clayton, restaurants, grocery store, shopping, and nearby activities makes Charming Cabin a convenient place to stay as well as a home base from which to explore other areas of N. GA, or venture into NC or SC. Activities enjoyed by the owner and family have been local dining and shopping, whitewater rafting, hiking, golfing, fishing, sight-seeing, and boating on Lake Rabun and Lake Burton. The road leading to the cabin and the private driveway are paved. On the main level you will find the kitchen, living area with seating for four, gas log fireplace, TV, bedroom with two twin beds, full bath with tub/shower, and laundry closet with washer/dryer, vacuum cleaner, dust-buster, and first-aid kit. Sliding glass doors in the living area and main level bedroom offer mountain views and access to the large, screened porch. On the porch you can relax on the porch swing, rocking chairs (2), and enjoy your meals at the table with seating for four. Seasonally, the table on the porch has doubled as an office for my husband when working from home. Upstairs is a balcony with a sleeper sofa, bedroom with queen-sized bed and comfortable memory foam mattress, and full private bathroom (large shower, no tub). A small uncovered balcony is accessed from the loft. The upper-level bedroom and loft also offer mountain views. A large main level deck wraps around the cabin from the front door to the screened porch.

We love this place beauty little town with good restaurants nice people around fantastic Denis the owner everything was perfect we missed this place and want to be back ASAP Thanks Denis
Fantastic month-long stay in the north Georgia mountains! Clayton is a great small town with everything we needed to enjoy the holidays. The cabin is wonderful - well appointed, beautiful decor, comfortable beds, clean and updated bathrooms/kitchen, and a great cozy fireplace. Best of all: the screened-in porch allows for breathtaking views from atop the mountain! Enjoyed the nightly sunsets and watching the town below. We were able to use our location as a perfect launching point for day trips to Foxfire Museum, Dollywood and Pigeon Forge TN, Biltmore and Asheville NC, Atlanta for the aquarium and museums...not to mention the great hiking in Tallulah Gorge SP, Warwoman Dell, and access point to the Appalachian Trail! Cannot say enough great things about this property and location. The owner/host is fantastic - she provided guidance, suggestions, and was an excellent communicator! Will DEFINITELY be coming back when good fortune allows!

Thank you for your review! I look forward to your return.
One of the cleanest and most equipped places we have rented. Hostess was very helpful and pleasant. Located kinda in the middle of a lot of places to visit. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
This is such a wonderful property. So comfortable with a fantastic screen porch! Close to town, yet secluded and very quiet. House is well appointed! Definitely recommend!!!
We will definitely be back. Already planning a girls weekend with me, 2 grown daughters and sister in law

Loved it!
My wife and I spent December 23-30, 2017 at this lovely cabin on Screamer Mountain. The cabin is well furnished, very cozy and was ideal for us and our two dogs. It is very convenient to shopping and downtown Clayton, Georgia. The cabin’s owner, Denise, is delightful. We recommend this place highly!

Thank you for your review, I hope you will return and enjoy the place in warmer weather!
We really enjoyed our stay in this cabin. It was nice & cool. The screened in porch was fantastic ! Great views......what a spot for a rain shower. The owner has the place outfitted with everything you could possibly need in the kitchen. Loved the twn Clayton....lake Burton & Lake Rabun.
Two friends and I stayed at Charming Cabin for two nights and we were wanting more! The cabin was spotless and was decorated in cute mountain style. But our favorite was the large screened porch with an unobstructed mountain view. The cabin is tucked away in the woods and feels private. I can’t wait to go back!

Thank you, Pat, and all guests who leave comments!
This was our 2nd stay at the Charming Cabin. This gem, up on the side of Screamer Mtn. has all the comforts of home! The host provides many small details that other rentals lack. Nearby shopping and dining, the beautiful springtime, mountain scenic drives, and the peaceful and quiet screened porch to come home to! My husband and I had a wonderful Anniversary week!
We stayed here for our honeymoon, and enjoyed it so much that we extended our stay by a few days. We did not want to leave. Denise has thought of everything, and the cabin is immaculate and beautifully decorated. The views are outstanding. We have already planned to come back for every anniversary. This is a special place. Highly, highly recommend.

Thank you for your review, Melissa! I’m so glad you enjoyed Charming Cabin, and I think it is kind of special, too. It makes me happy that guests want to return.
This property is exactly as advertised and a wonderful place to stay near the Chattooga River and downtown Clayton, Georgia. The porch is lovely with a view of the mountains. An added treat was the DVD collection. The beds were sooo comfortable, and the decor was extremely thoughtful. Our host was accessible and accommodating and provided detailed instructions that helped us to navigate to the property and to make sure that all expectations were met (our expectations and those of the host). We highly recommend this cabin!

Thank you for choosing Charming Cabin and thank you for your review!
In this era of smart TVs and apps, I have been considering packing up the DVD’s thinking guests would watch Netflix and Amazon Prime that has been made available and/or have subscriptions to other things they would prefer to watch. Thank you for letting me know the DVD player and collection is still something guests will use. 😊
Great cabin with super personal touches. Lovely view and close to a lot of varied activities. Only recommendation is to replace mattresses on beds. Every movement creates noise

Thank you for your review. The bed frames have wooden slats and that contributes to the noise, but taking care of that issue will be in the budget for the upcoming year. I appreciate your comments.
This cabin has a great view! Very clean! It has comfortable beds, nicely decorated and the kitchen is stocked with any cookware you might need. You are VERY close to town so no problem if you want to run in to the grocery store or go to a restaurant. There are many restaurants to choose from. We enjoyed Fortified! Get reservations! Cute shops & do not miss Reeves Hardware Store.
Had a terrific time during our stay! The cabin was beautiful and surpassed our every expectation. Denise was very helpful and informative, even sending directions so we would avoid the congestion of Atlanta traffic. I was also amazed at how well stocked the cabin was. Lots of little touches that made our time there memorable. But my best memory was seeing my kids so content, sitting in their rocking chairs on the back porch, enjoying the magnificent view. We so hated to leave.
The cabin was clean and tidy when we arrived, and it wasn't too difficult to get to. Be aware the roads are very narrow when driving up the mountain. We wanted to get away from the city for a while and that's exactly what we did. The only thing was I wish there were curtains for the main doors leading outside onto the balcony - the option to close it off for a bit of privacy would've been nice. Other than that we have no complaints.

Thank you for your review. I’m not sure if you are referring to the door from the loft to the balcony—-there is and has always been a Roman shade on that door. Just to be sure other guests are aware, the main doors that look out from the living area look across a valley and at a distance across face another mountain. There is a shade and curtains on the screened porch that can be closed and provide privacy to living area however. There are shades in the bedroom where a door leads to the deck.

Christmas in the mountains
This is the second year in a row that my family spends Christmas in the Georgia mountains. This year we chose this cabin and we were not disappointed! It is exactly as described AND we were pleasantly surprised that it was decorated just for us for Christmas! This was a bonus! It's a beautiful, cozy cabin just minutes from town yet you feel like you're far away on top of the mountains. Everything was very clean and comfortable. The owner was extremely nice and communicated with us quickly whenever we needed any information. We would come here again!!

Wonderful week in a beautiful setting and a comfortable and cozy cabin!
A friend and I chose to return to the "Cozy Cabin" for our now-regular "girls get-away" week. After a wonderful stay last year, we couldn't resist returning - Denise has created a homey, comfortable and welcoming base for exploring the great area around Clayton! We hiked, shopped, and enjoyed cool mornings on the deck (we're from southwest Florida - no "cool" mornings here now!). The screened deck overlooking mountains is one of my favorite places to spend time with coffee and book! I can highly recommend both the "Cozy Cabin" and the area - we still have not done or seen anywhere close to all the great activities in the area!!
Thanks, Denise, for another great week!!

Beautiful Cabin - Beautiful Area
A friend and I spent a wonderful "Girls Getaway" week at the "Charming Cabin" in Clayton...what a great "getaway" it was!! The cabin was beautiful and beautifully stocked, the view off the enclosed back deck was amazing, and "Bo" the very friendly older dog from next door was ever the "gentleman" as he patiently waited to see if he would get his morning "snack" from me (he always did)! As much as we enjoyed the cabin, we also enjoyed the area - canoeing on Lake Burton, horseback riding at the Dillard House, and hiking to several of the incredible area waterfalls! The week went WAY too fast!! Thank you, Denise, for allowing us to enjoy your wonderful cabin and area!!

About the host
Hosted by Denise Landis
I grew up in Indiana, have lived in GA for more than half of my life, I guess I'm a Southern Hoosier. I retired from working in healthcare as a registered nurse when my husband was diagnosed with leukemia and Covid was making its way across the country. We live near Braselton, GA, which is a 90-minute drive from the cabin. I have successfully managed this cabin as a short-term vacation rental through VRBO for several years, please read the reviews to get a good idea of guest experience and comments about the property. One surprise plus of vacation rental ownership happens to be the friendships I've made with some of the guests who have returned for repeated visits. Recently, between changes in the vacation rental market and wanting to simplify life a little bit, I made the decision to switch to mid-term rental (minimum of 30 days stay). I am hoping to find success in this change.
Why they chose this property
The location and the beauty of NE GA mountains.
What makes this property unique
The screened porch is everyone's favorite! Sitting on the porch and enjoying amazing sunsets from late spring through mid-fall, watching the clouds roll by, seeing the stars at night, having birds-eye view of July 4 fireworks from town...The porch is our favorite place to start the day and end the day. The setting among trees gives you the feel of being in a big tree house. The location of the cabin has the feel of being "away from it all" with the convenience of being approximately 5 minutes from the town of Clayton.
