Draft- "Dexioma" is a small, lovely rose-covered cottage with ocean views, listed on the National Register of Historic Places. My mother has been the owner since 2000. We are proud to say that she has won numerous awards from the Nantucket and South Shore Historical Societies for her work with antique houses. Dexioma has benefited from her love and knowledge. Your entrance is on Broadway, one of those magical streets often photographed and featured on postcards and book covers. Dexioma is often the focus, with its pink roses climbing from the front garden up and over the roofline, creating a breathtaking image. The back of the cottage sits on Front Street, which is another postcard-perfect image with its grass and shelled road, really an alley that infrequently hosts vehicles. Our brick patio overlooks Front Street, the bluff, and the ocean beyond. An internet search will share more! The cottage is one floor. From Broadway, the white picket-fence gate opens onto a garden designed to bloom all season. The door opens into a sweet, tiny 'mud room' with a built-in wooden sink and an antique window with wavy glass that depicts antique panes. The parlor on the left holds a linen closet and a broom closet next to the non-working fireplace. The parlor has a sweet couch, and comfortable chairs around a coffee table. The wooden floors are wide boards, beautifully varnished. If you roll a marble, you will find they slant away from the fireplace and towards the two bedrooms. We have a desk that looks out over the brick patio and out to Front Street and the ocean beyond. Two bedrooms are on the right side of the parlor. One has a small double or full-sized built-in ship's bunk with drawers below. The bed is built under the eaves of this beautiful Cape-style structure. A high shelf with peg hooks is a simple but classic storage design. The room has a beautiful, well-cared-for collection of antique pieces that make the space, including a wooden dresser, a mirror, a bedside table, and a lamp. There is a sweet window that lets the light in during the day and acts as a blackout shade.
The second bedroom has a single, twin bedroom The gourmet kitchen is equipped with the finest appliances, including Sub-Zero refrigerator drawers and Miele appliances. Ocean breezes roll through the house, as well as the air conditioning. Truly a special place! An internet search will share more.
