Studio on Shem Creek with a Deep Water Dock & Views of Freshwater Lake

This beautiful and immaculately renovated ground floor studio on Shem Creek, in the heart of Mt Pleasant, SC is the perfect place to experience the charm of the Lowcountry. A large and private lot with separate pathways throughout have all added to the privacy of this studio. The studio is centrally located between Downtown Historic Charleston, the beaches of Sullivans Island, and Isle of Palms. This picturesque property provides views of a five-acre fresh water lake, marshland and gorgeous sunsets. Two kayaks, two bikes and two paddle boards are provided free-of-charge so that you can paddle down the creek to dinner or bike to the many restaurants and shops on Coleman Blvd. Guests are welcome to bring and dock their own boat for an extra charge (we are only 1.5 miles from the Charleston Harbor by water). This bird lovers paradise showcases marsh and fresh water birds throughout almost 2 acres of land (Bald eagles, ospreys and otters have been spotted on the lake). Enjoy the shade of the property's southern live oak trees or soak up the sun as you fish or crab off the deep water dock.

Anniversary weekend away

Beautiful little spot on Shem Creek. Perfect location to do all we love to do in Charleston. This sweet little studio was private, clean, comfortable and had all the amenities we needed. It was extremely affordable and the hosts were very kind. We had a wonderful time. highly recommend this place if you want a nice little getaway.

Lovely property great location

Enjoyed our 5 day stay with Jackie and Chris. Excellent hosts gave us a lot of information on what to visit and restaurant recommendations. The studio was lovely everything was perfect. Would recommend to anyone wanting to spend several days in the Charleston area. Lots of birds visiting the lake rgularly especially the Eagles.

This newly renovated property was gorgeous and I never wanted to leave - I was seriously so sad to leave! The giant windows in the studio look out onto the lake, sitting in the chairs that looked out onto Shem Creek whilst having coffee was perfection, and usage of the kayaks to go to Shem Creek was super cool. The owner was very polite and actually left us biscuits in the freezer which we did make along with some butter and jelly, which was a lovely touch! Coffee was also provided along with shower essentials - another awesome touch. The bed was the most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept in my life. It was walking distance to a really fun bar called the southern which we had a great time watching a band on Tuesday nights. We will definitely be back!

Wonderful vacation

Gorgeous property - everything we could have hoped for!

This Shem Creek Studio was everything we could have hoped for and more. Jackie & Chris were so friendly and thoughtful, and I can't say enough about the gorgeous views right outside the windows of the studio. The property was absolutely stunning. After long days of exploring the Charleston area it was so nice to be able to come back to the studio, sit outside and unwind, and simply enjoy the peaceful tranquility while watching the sunset. We'd definitely stay here again - highly recommended!

Great Place!

Jackie was very responsive to any questions that we had, especially with the threat of a tropical storm. The studio space was perfect for my husband and me, with a private entrance. The extra added touches were really nice, like beach towels/chairs, shower products and delicious biscuits from a local resturaunt. The location, property and views of the river were beuatiful and we can't wait to for our return visit!

Jackie was an excellent host and goes the extra mile to make your stay an incredible experience! The Studio on Shem Creek is absolutely lovely. Perhaps the only thing better was the conscientious and accommodating hosts (who live permanently above in the main house). My wife and I were in town for a wedding and found the private apartment and grounds beautiful and conveniently located. We did not have a car but utilized Uber, the provided bikes, and our own two feet to get around. No problem! That is — until the rain began falling. Charleston and Mount Pleasant experienced historic rainfall (10” in 36 hours!) and some very high tides over our weekend stay. Flash flooding was common but we retreated indoors and enjoyed our luxurious, well appointed apartment. Owner Jackie checked on us as needed and was very accommodating as the apartment developed a small amount of water seepage on the kitchen floor. While not a particular bother to us, our last night we did vacate the apartment early so that the owners could understandably remediate the moisture intrusion before the arrival of the next guests. Jackie assisted in relocating us to another (larger) rental across the street and made sure we had everything we needed - and extended us a few bonus courtesies to boot. I wouldn’t hesitate staying there again and frankly, if staying in Mount Pleasant as a couple, wouldn’t bother looking anywhere else.

They space and property were perfect! My husband said this was one of his favorites and we've been using vacation rentals for years. In order to stay home with my two children, my husband and I decided renting out the the Studio on the first floor would be a great opportunity to help subsidize our mortgage, and share our beautiful location.

Why they chose this property

Once you arrive, you will see what a unique piece of property this is. With Shem Creek on one side of the garden and a five acre lake on the other side, we enjoy spectacular views of the lake and the marsh. Yet we are a stones throw to the heart of Mt Pleasant. And only a 10 minute drive to the beach and 10 minutes from historic downtown Charleston.

What makes this property unique

You will be the only person sharing this property with us. You have access to the creek, kayaks and two bicycles to help you explore Mt Pleasant. Also available is the ability to bring your boat (up to 23 feet) and leave it in the water, so you can enjoy all the water activities Charleston has to offer without having to launch your boat daily. The dock has power and water to clean you boat and catch. There is good fishing off the dock for red fish, trout and flounder.
