We booked the property for a long-term stay, and the morning of the day we were supposed to check-in, I received an email from the property owner saying the 1st week of our stay wasn’t available, after we had paid-in-full. I had been conversing with the day before our check-in and I thought everything was set. My dad was sick in the hospital and had just had surgery, and we suddenly had no place to stay. We had also done all of the shopping for the house after a 14 hr day at the hospital. The property owner blamed it on VRBO, but the house had been rented out from underneath my sister & I. The people at VRBO were amazing in helping me find another place to stay. Make sure the property you rent is refundable if possible and you can avoid the multi-hour nightmare experience I had losing our rental.
