About this property

Creekside Mountain Retreat. Waterfall, pond, natural serenity, pet-friendly.

Relax, refresh, and soak in the serenity and beauty of the Smoky Mountains. This waterfall is all yours for the duration of your stay. All photos were taken onsite, except the last four which show nearby views.

Holler Haven is a totally renovated and expanded house tucked away in the heart of the Smoky Mountains, surrounded by Cherokee National Forest and just a few miles from Martha Sundquist State Forest, the Appalachian Trail, and the eastern edge of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

Holler Haven outside: Woods, walking spaces, and a pond. Best of all, a spring-fed mountain creek flows right by the house and the screened-in porch overlooks your very own a waterfall. Keep your eyes peeled for great blue heron, marsh hawk, pileated woodpecker, many other birds including wild turkey, as well as deer, rabbits, and more. In season you might even find berries. You'll love it! Your dog will love it, too!

Holler Haven inside: There are 2 bedrooms, 1 full bathroom, full kitchen, dining room, and living room, all new appliances, newly furnished, with wifi via Starlink and TV via DirecTV, and a screened-in porch overlooking the creek and waterfall.

Unplug--There are no cell towers on the mountain. Connect on your terms--You can use your phone onsite by turning on your wifi option.

Holler Haven is perfect for a quiet getaway in the mountains.

Stay here. Relax and rest. Walk through the woods. Meditate by the fire while enjoying the sights and sounds of the waterfall and creek. Laze at the side of the pond while being serenaded by frogs and falling water. Watch TV. Play games. Prepare a special meal. Rock and read on the screened-in porch.

Or discover adventures in the area and know a peaceful retreat awaits you at the end of the day. White-water rafting just a few miles away on the Pigeon River. Hiking and picnicking in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Scenic drives along Foothill Parkway and so many other beautiful routes. Visit Gatlinburg. Pigeon Forge. Hot Springs. The Biltmore Estate in Asheville. Dollywood in Sevierville. The Knoxville Zoo. The Birthplace of Country Music Museum in Bristol. And on, and on, and on.

Our water comes from a deep well. It's the best water we've ever tasted.

Dog friendly w/ $50 fee per stay, 2 dogs max
Plenty of room to run and explore.
Dogs must be kenneled if left alone in the house. We have a large crate and bed that you can borrow; just let us know ahead of time.
Two friendly old dogs live with the hosts. They don't get around as much as they used to, but you may see them on the property.

Holler Haven is in a rural, wooded mountain setting. The house is located at the end of a long gravel driveway, in a quiet spot between the creek and the mountainside. No one can drive by. You will see the pond as you come in. From the house you can drive to the pond if you wish, or you may choose to enjoy the walk along the creek. You can explore the wooded mountainside, play in the creek, or stroll the field by the pond.

As you travel the driveway to the house you will see another little structure that is on property that abuts our property. It is peeking out from the trees in one of the pictures of the pond. It is not visible from the rental house, and it is unoccupied most of the time.

The hosts and their dogs live upstream from your house. The two houses are about 300 feet apart and are mostly hidden from one another by the terrain.

The drive up into the mountains from I-40 takes you on a 2-lane blacktop winding road. The side road that you take for the last mile or so is narrower, and the last third of that is gravel, all of which is typical for this remote area in the mountains.

WOW! I can't tell you how much my family and I enjoyed our stay. The cabin had everything we needed and then some. Chris provided EXCELLENT directions which were crucial... this place is definitely remote, which put us square in the middle of peace, quiet, nature, and contentment. Even so, we had great internet access via the StarLink provided. The fact that this place is truly "pet friendly" (not just limited to pets under 40 pounds) made for a wonderful family getaway. My daughter and the dog were playing in the creek and at the waterfall every day! We're already looking for opportunities to come back. Our stay was more than comfortable... it was a marvelous stress-free way to spend some time reconvening with nature. We can't thank Chris and Phil enough for the phenomenal hospitality.

My husband Danny and I, along with our dog, Barney, thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The house and property were just as described. Danny and Barney especially loved their nature walks. The kitchen had everything we needed and the vintage looking refrigerator was adorable. The recliners were so comfortable, and we appreciated being able to watch our favorite shows on DirecTV. Although we could never get Danny's phone connected to your Wi-Fi, mine worked just fine. The bedrooms were neat and spacious and listening to the creek was so relaxing (even with the windows closed). Even though we didn't need any of the "extras" you provided in the bathroom, it was nice to know they were there if we had forgotten anything. If anyone is wondering, the AC works very well! We didn't take advantage of the screened in porch, but I'm sure it would be a great place to drink your morning coffee. The hosts checked in on us a few times as did their dogs, and we also got to meet a couple of their neighbors. If you like privacy in a somewhat remote location (ok, there are actually quite a few houses around), but you are still miles from the highway, then this is the place for you. We would definitely stay here again!**I only have one suggestion-maybe add a full-length mirror in one of the bedrooms or bathroom.

Phil and Chris moved to the Smoky Mountains about 10 years ago. We love it! We have been blessed with a truly beautiful location to live, to steward, and to share. We are happy to respond to questions, and we hope you will let us know how we can make your visit even better. We hope you will love it here as much as we do.

Why they chose this property

We fell in love with this property the first time we saw it. The creek. The waterfalls. The pond. The trees. The wildlife. Stand anywhere on the property. Look in any direction. Breathe it all in. Stress melts away.

What makes this property unique

A spring-fed creek cascades down through the center of the property. A waterfall is right next to the house. Downstream the creek feeds a restful pond. A wooded mountainside embraces it all and is home to all sorts of wildlife. Beauty abounds. All is at peace. Holler Haven Creekside Mountain Retreat is close to the major attractions of the Smoky Mountains and East Tennessee and it is far from the crowds, the noise, and the hustle bustle. It is perfect for a quiet refuge away from it all or as a welcoming homebase for exploration and adventure.
