For nature lovers, enjoy swimming and boating right in your own backyard. River House is located in the Tennessee River Gorge - a unique destination that offers endless opportunities for exploring and enjoying your surroundings. While you're here, take a paddle through the gorge in our complementary tandem kayak. And we've just recently added a dock to make river access even easier!

Just up the street is Suck Creek with seasonal blue holes and breathtaking boulder gardens. Prentice Cooper State Forest with its 26,000 acres of semi-protected land and the Cumberland Trail are mere minutes away. And the climbing mecca, Tennessee Wall, is just down the road. So, there are plenty of outdoor attractions for everyone.

Despite the feel of being far from the hustle and bustle, River House is located just 8 miles from Downtown Chattanooga. Scenic City attractions - the Aquarium, Children’s Discovery Museum, Coolidge Park, Hunter Museum of Art, Chattanooga Zoo, the famous Choo Choo and much more are so close. “See 7 States” at Rock City and tour the caverns of Ruby Falls on nearby Lookout Mountain. Award-winning restaurants, local craft breweries, and the Chattanooga Whiskey Distillery are all nearby.

Please be aware, we follow Eastern Time here like the rest of Chattanooga despite being right at the Central/Eastern Time Zone line. Your cell phone will likely flip/flop between Eastern & Central Time.

Whatever you want to experience in Chattanooga, River House is your home base to enjoy it all!

We’re proud to call Chattanooga home—it’s where we’ve chosen to put down roots and raise our kids. Life here revolves around the outdoors, and we love taking full advantage of it through biking, hiking, rafting, kayaking, and exploring new places as a family.

Chattanooga is an incredibly special city, blending vibrant culture with easy access to nature. One of our favorite gems is the Tennessee River Gorge, often called the “Green Grand Canyon of the South,” and it’s just one example of the beauty that makes this area so unique.

We truly enjoy hosting because it gives us the opportunity to share this place we love with others and help create memorable experiences for our guests.

Why they chose this property

The neighborhood is shaped by the stunning Tennessee River Gorge, a 26-mile stretch of river that winds through forested mountains and dramatic cliffs just outside of downtown Chattanooga. It’s one of the most scenic and ecologically rich river gorges in the country.

What we love most is how immersive it feels—you’re surrounded by protected land, lush hardwood forests, and sweeping overlooks, yet still close to the city. Mornings can be quiet and misty over the river, while afternoons are perfect for hiking nearby trails, paddling through calm waters, or simply taking in the views.

There’s a peaceful, grounded feeling here that’s hard to replicate, and it’s something we’re always excited for guests to experience.

What makes this property unique

What truly sets our property apart is its connection to the Tennessee River Gorge—an incredibly rare and protected landscape that makes this area unlike anywhere else. Being surrounded by such a unique natural setting creates an experience that feels both peaceful and immersive, while still being close to everything Chattanooga has to offer.

It’s not just a place to stay—it’s a chance to wake up in one of the most scenic and distinctive environments in the region. Whether you’re enjoying the views, exploring nearby trails, or simply soaking in the quiet, there’s something special about being here that guests consistently feel. The added bonus is being SO CLOSE to downtown Chattanooga ~only 8 miles away!
