About the host
Hosted by Rachel
This lakefront property in Forestburgh is my own vacation home — a place I genuinely love and wanted to share with others. I discovered this little corner of the Catskills and fell in love with the peace and quiet, the water, and how completely it lets you unplug. When I'm not here myself, I love knowing that other families and groups get to experience it too. I take care of this home like it's my own (because it is!), and I want every guest to feel that the moment they arrive.
Why they chose this property
Forestburgh is one of those rare places that feels tucked away from the world but is still incredibly easy to get to — just under two hours from New York City. It sits in the heart of Sullivan County, surrounded by forests, wildlife, and the natural beauty of the Catskill Mountains. What drew me here was the combination of true seclusion and that private lake right on the property. The area has so much character too — from the Forestburgh Playhouse to Bethel Woods to the Delaware River — but honestly, most days you won't want to leave the property at all.
What makes this property unique
Most large group rentals make you choose between space and setting. This one gives you both.
What truly sets this property apart is the peninsula location — water on three sides, with a private 30-acre lake that's entirely yours to enjoy. No public beach, no strangers on the dock. Just you, your group, and the water. Kayaks and a paddle boat are ready to go, steps from the back door.
The house itself is designed for big groups without feeling like a dormitory. Eleven bedrooms spread across three levels give everyone their own space, while the open main floor naturally brings people together — whether that's around the kitchen, the fireplace, or the dining table.
Outside, the wide lakefront lawn is made for gatherings: a hot tub, fire pit, volleyball, and those long golden-hour sunsets over the water. It's the kind of place where people stop looking at their phones.
And the location is quietly unbeatable — deep in the Catskills, completely private, yet under two hours from New York City and just minutes from Monticello. You feel far away without actually being far away.
