Great property for a group trip. We enjoyed the house it was spacious and had everything we needed. The lake, kayaks and paddle boards were a lot of fun. I highly recommend and would stay again.

Great house, wonderful experience had by all!

This home was great for our group. We especially enjoyed the views from the many windows. The upstairs has been renovated and is beautiful. All the kids had a wonderful time in the game room downstairs as well as the backyard. We had lots of fun making s’mores over the fire pit. We are already discussing returning to this home. The owner, Adi, was very responsive and a pleasure to work with.

Great property for a family getaway

We spent a week here with 8 adults, 3 children, and 2 dogs, and this house was the perfect setup for us! We all had a great time hanging at the pool, got out on the lake in kayaks and rented a pontoon boat one day that was able to be brought right to our dock. It's really a great space for 5 couples of any ages (would love to go back with a group of friends), and seems to be one of the nicest properties on the lake. Ben was extremely responsive and easy to communicate with, and made sure we had everything we needed to be comfortable. Would definitely recommend!

New Year's Eve!

The spaces are awsome for a huge family or 3 separate families... the kitchen and bathrooms are so modern and spa like! Beds are all super comfy. It was great having the finished basement level with pool table and games...great for kids and adults alike. Decks and balconies all around...easy to get some alone time if u need it lol. Ez checkin/out and good communication! Thank you for sharing your home with us!

Exquisite property on a lake, very beautiful house and outdoors! We spent a long winter weekend on this gorgeous property and we enjoyed everything from modern & fine taste furnishing indoors, to outdoors and lake views! Especially we enjoyed the luxurious bathrooms, with steam room and updated showers, and the beautifully decorated rooms, impeccable clean. The kids had fun in the game rooms, playing arcade games, pool or Wii, and outdoors, playing on the hills with the lake views, enjoying the white snowy wonderland. The owner is very responsive and kind and he made sure we all had a great time on his property. Thank you so much, we highly recommend it and we will surely be back soon, in the summer!

Great family getaway!

We had a great time here for the week. The property is recently renovated with a brand new kitchen and 5 bedrooms. The only real issue we had was a wasp nest near the grill but Ben was responsive, set up an exterminator as quickly as possible and suggested we move the grill to the other side of the deck which worked fine for us. The fire pit was a nice feature at night. I also recommend renting a boat from one of two nearby marinas on the lake, taking a drive to buck brook alpacas with kids, or checking out the spa at Kenoza Hall. The casino is also nearby. For food: Benji & Jake’s, Big Kevs BBQ and Local Table were some of our favorites. Keep in mind a lot of restaurants in the area are closed on Tuesdays.

Spacious & comfortable modern house with good trails and hiking options around

We stayed over the Thanksgiving break and had a great time. Modern house with all the comfort you need including music, TVs and lots of games/entertainment in the basement. We loved the steam shower in particular, we couldn't get enough of it. The house is decorated with great taste. Great hiking trails around and all around great destination if you like the outdoor. Only downside was the snow on the ground and frigid temperatures which meant that the pool was a Ice-skating ring... Otherwise from a shopping standpoint, access to Wallmart where you can find all the basics but don't expect anything fancy, ShopRite is a much better option across the street from Wallmart. We were very happy with the house and Adi's attention, we recommend the place.

Ideal for Larger Groups!

I would absolutely recommend a stay at Ben’s lake house! While the reviews below are true that the house could use a coat of fresh paint, that’s where my areas for improvement end. The value of this property is 10x what you would get at a resort for a large group. We did everything from cook in the pizza oven, to playing spike ball in the backyard, to jumping off the dock into the lake - not sure what resort has access to all of that in the privacy of your own group. If you’re here in a good weather month, we even rented pontoon boats on the lake the house is on. Does it get more convenient? There’s a pool in the secluded front yard if the lake isn’t your thing, and downstairs there’s arcade games and a pool table. The kitchen is stocked with pots and pans, which made cooking for a large audience easy. The house isn’t the only thing to do either, and our friend group made use of the local casino (which has big city casino vibes) and golf courses. Monticello was a hidden gem just 90 minutes from NYC, and I would absolutely go back to Ben’s home.

It's the little things that count

I would to have given a five star rating, but for the price we paid, I expected some of the little things to be better. Working with Ben was easy and pleasant. However, being an absentee landlord shows up in the details. The upsides: The interior of the house is lovely. It's a spacious home giving our family plenty of room to spread out on rainy days. The basement game room was a hit! Plenty of activities for all age groups. A spacious yard overlooking the lake allowed lots of room for stomp rockets and firefly hunting! The pool was the 'star of the show'! Comfortably heated with beautiful decking and plenty of seating. We spent a lot of time enjoying it. The downsides: We did notice a smoke detector was detached from the ceiling in the living room. The interior handrails are too wide to get a good grip on, which was a a problem for older family members. Homes we previously rented addressed that issue by adding compliant handrails. The wooden decking around the house is in sore need of repair. There are many gouges and lots of splintered wood. When we arrived, the grass had not been mowed so there were flowering weeds attracting bees. One of the children was stung soon after we got there. There was only one towel for each person. Upon calling Ben, he responded quickly and these issues were rectified. However, there shouldn't have been a need for a phone call. Because he doesn't personally oversee the property, these little things slip by.

Very disappointing.

The house and setting are beautiful. But this rental might have been managed better if the property manager lived locally rather than in Florida so he could see the problems before we arrived. He did act quickly to replace the house cleaners who didn’t show up before our arrival. However, this meant losing the first day of private family time while someone was underfoot cleaning the house which we couldn’t leave because of rain. If the property manager had inspected the grounds, he would have seen that the previous renters left rubbish all over the grounds and dog poop everywhere which is different from poop left by animals in that natural habitat. Crushed glass was on the driveway; we had to sweep it to avoid ruining our tires. The pool was filthy. My 8-yr-old grandson wouldn’t use it after the first time due to all the debris; it was not cleaned until two days before we left. The wasps’ nest underneath the dock prevented our enjoying that area for fear of being stung. Most distressing was the prominent gasoline odor from the garage from ATVs and gasoline cans which permeated the entire first floor. The property manager had the ATVs removed, but the odor persisted from the gasoline cans. We were told that no other renters complained of these fumes. Maybe we were the only ones to complain, but it was strong enough to give my daughter and grandson headaches and nausea. That, along with the other issues mentioned above, caused them to leave the property just three days into our vacation. Honestly, we all would have left except that one of us had a flight home on the last day. We’ve stayed at other VRBO and AirB&B rentals and never had to write such a negative review. This was the most unpleasant rental experience of our travels.

Not looking further for our next vacation- this is the perfect place

Our long awaited Summer getaway- we found this gem! With a family covering all ages- there was something for everyone, from the fireplace to the kayaks, the boardgames and the pool table. The outdoor pool is also a find- clean, big and warm.Adi was the best host no question was too much, and great communication. Home was spotless and were very critical :)10/10 well be there again.Thank you for sharing your home with us

Fabulous family fun

We had a wonderful vacation with our kids and grandkids in this spacious house on an expansive property. Each family had their own space, the kitchen was well-appointed and there was plenty of room for large groups to gather both indoors, and out. The lake was a highlight. We had hours of fun swimming, kayaking, exploring the lake on a boat rental, and fishing. The views were always beautiful, from misty mornings to late night sunsets. Ben was a very responsive host, calling frequently to make sure things were okay, and even purchased a high chair when I inquired if there was one available. The inside was perfectly clean, however the outside needs some updated repairs, and had litter from what appeared to be previous renters, including random beer cans and cigarette butts. Also, the pool did not look clean, despite having a pool service. Overall, these issues did not detract from what was really a terrific family vacation in a great house.

Awesome getaway for large groups

This was one of the best places I’ve stayed at. Tons of bedrooms and bathrooms (so many showers and they were all pretty large), plenty of different spaces to hang out including the main first floor where the kitchen/dining room/living room is all combined, basement with various games (pool table, video games, arcade game, workout space, chess), and so much outdoor space. Pool is heated and spacious, there’s 2 different fire pits, an outdoor table that’s well shaded, dock/lake area. Space was very clean, plenty of linens/towels, kitchen was very well equipped. No issues with wifi and there was even wifi by the pool. Check in was easy and host was always responsive. Highly recommend for a big family or friend trip

10 guys stayed here for a weekend and had an excellent time. house is huge and very clean. we were there late march but I’m sure especially in the summer it’s a great getaway with a pool and lake access.

Everybody needs a place to unwind and forget their worries by changing their environment and creating a nice healthy life balance. Staying active in nature with plenty of activities, watersports, and amenities was my dream growing up. Our family comes together and enjoys spending time with one another. We sit by the fire, roast marshmallows under the stars and enjoy each others company. This home allows me to live my dream and share it with other families who feel the same way!

Why they chose this property

This is everything I could have ever dreamed about in a property. After searching for many years I finally found the property that pretty much has it all. Large 5 Acres of private lake front land in the middle of the Catskills. Its a place for me and the family to unwind and relax. Breathe in fresh air and enjoy the peace and quiet from the busy city life. We managed to find a safe haven with a multitude of activities, fun, sports, and relaxation. The most beautiful part is the night sky and clear stars that are almost impossible to see in a city environment.

What makes this property unique

The house is a very large contemporary looking lake home in great condition. It sits on 5 acres of land with about 200 feet of Lake Frontage. It has a private boat launch and an in-ground heated pool. There are activities for all seasons of the year and lots of privacy! There are porches, balconies, decks, and open land to breath fresh air and enjoy the lake views and wildlife. Whether its a snowy winter ATV trip through the wood trails or a sunny summer Jet-ski water-sports day, everyone in the family comes together to create new bonds.
