When renovating and furnishing this approximately 72 m2 Swedish holiday home, we focused on solid craftsmanship, energy efficiency, and a cosy, comfortable atmosphere. The house underwent a complete renovation in 2021 and 2022.

The new kitchen, equipped with an induction cooktop, an oven, and a microwave, is ideal for preparing both quick, small meals and larger, multi-course meals. All standard kitchen appliances are provided, and some of the pots and pans are high-quality. The dining table extends, providing room for additional guests. A high chair can also be provided for your youngest child.

Energy-efficient night storage heaters and infrared heaters provide warmth during the colder seasons, ensuring the house remains cosy even when it’s cold outside. The Swedish-style house was designed to withstand cold temperatures, making it winter-ready.

A clothes dryer is available, allowing you to enjoy even a longer holiday with minimal laundry. We use the clothes dryer to regularly clean the blankets and pillows to remove dust mite allergens.

The windows in the living room and master bedroom are floor-to-ceiling, providing plenty of light during the day and a view of the garden. The curtains in the bedrooms are blackout curtains, ensuring a dark sleeping environment. The front patio is covered and sheltered from the wind, making it very pleasant to spend warm summer days outdoors while the children play in the garden. But even during a summer shower, relaxing on the patio can be very enjoyable. Four lounge chairs invite you to rest or read under the trees. Since we cannot provide a cot or a toddler-safe chair, the house is unfortunately not suitable for guests with very young children.

The house is located in a very quiet holiday home community—originally built in the 1920s and expanded in the 1970s—just outside the village of Großenheidorn in the Steinhuder Meer Nature Park, away from the tourist centers. From here, it’s just a few minutes’ walk to a hidden swimming spot or, after a short stroll, to an observation tower—the Vogelturm—which offers a magnificent view of the Steinhuder Meer. The variety of birdlife is impressive; there’s plenty to discover, whether it’s storks, coots, or the blackcap. Many bird lovers are drawn to the nature park, particularly in search of white-tailed eagles, which have returned here in recent years.

From here, you can set out on a variety of bike tours or day hikes. The 32-km bike path around Steinhuder Meer runs right past the property, so you can be sure you’ll find your way back. Or you can hike along the varied trails (staying on the paths) through the moor and enjoy the tranquility and nature.

The proximity to Steinhude guarantees you a wide variety of restaurants and supermarkets. The town of Wunstorf offers some high-quality shopping options. For those who can’t do without cultural attractions, Hanover is also nearby. A visit to the capital of Lower Saxony—especially the Herrenhausen Gardens—is well worth your time.
