You'll be conveniently situated within minutes of local landmarks like Pinkerton Hot Springs and within easy reach of abundant hiking trails throughout the surrounding San Juan National Forest and fishing along the Animas River. The home sits beside the tracks of the Historic Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad, offering a prime vantage point for watching its iconic steam train roll past during one of its tours. You can also drive the 11 miles into town to hop on the train for a ride of your own or just enjoy exploring the historic downtown area.

The space comes well-appointed for ultimate comfort. The deluxe stainless steel kitchen includes a gourmet Viking gas range for culinary inspiration, along with a dishwasher for easy cleanup. Great location, not far from Durango and not far from Silverton…the first night there we saw a black bear! Unfortunately we had to leave early due to some unforeseen circumstances back home. Would love to stay there again!

Having the awesome mountain views in the front and the train in the back was really incredible. You can tell the upgrades were all very recent and well chosen and this little home is perfect from a weekend getaway all the way to a monthlong extended stay! Hopefully it won't get so popular we'll never get the chance to stay here again, because we'd like to.

We definitely recommend staying here if you are looking for a cozy stay near a big town without having to be in town. We loved that it was a 15 minute drive outside of Durango, close enough to get to amenities but really felt like a mountain getaway. A good option to save money if you are willing to drive to visit Silverton and Ouray. We drove most days about 1 hr each way.

Perfect getaway

Hermosa hideaway VRBO right outside of Durango but close enough to head into town or go to the Durango, Hot Springs or head to Silverton. You’re very close to Purgatory ski resort with lots of restaurants in golf course as well. The home was well maintained and had everything we needed. It’s beautifully decorated and comfortable. I’ve stayed here twice! Highly recommend.

Spacious and Well-Appointed for Couples

My husband loved the awesome proximity to the RR tracks behind this unique location, to photograph Durango’s excursion trains. I loved the well-appointed kitchen with high quality appliances and stainless countertops, as well as the gorgeous dining table to enjoy our own created meals. We both appreciated the simple elegant spaciousness of the home and the clean, healthy vibe. We are glad we stayed before the weather turned hot. However, the lovely glass and stone-tiled double shower pleasantly removes the dirt of the day’s outdoor adventures before appreciating the king bed in a spacious room. This was a delightful and memorable vacation stay which we may repeat someday!
