Nice little place!
We really loved the way everything was set up and decorated, not outdated at all. Of course being on the lake was great. The kitchen was lacking a bit in basic things (coffee mugs, a cookie sheet, Icecream scoop) but if you’re planning to mostly eat out, that wouldn’t matter. The air fryer was nice to have! We overall really enjoyed this little place and the location and would quickly stay again!
The physical boathouse is excellent and attractive , however the steps leading to this boathouse are a total disaster. There are 64 of them on a very steep winding staircase with some steps almost rotten. At night the steps are poorly lighted with some of the bulbs out. I am 78 and walk with a cane. Last night at 11;30 pm it took me 20 minutes to walk down these steps one at a time. This morning as I was leaving with my luggage I had to take it to a neighbors house since it was impossible for me to carry my suitcase up 64 steps. These steps are mentioned in the property details but only is you hit “See More” and they are mentioned in paragraph 2. In my opinion this is these most important issue regarding this attractive boat house because most people would never rent knowing there are 60 steps to negotiate. (I have photos if anyone wants to see them). Love the little boathouse , the location is great but these steps are a total disaster and I am surprised someone has not been seriously hurt on them.

Thank you for taking the time to share this detailed feedback. We're sorry that the staircase made the end of your stay so difficult, and the notes about the worn steps and the bulbs that were out have been passed to our maintenance team and repairs have been completed. You're right that the number of steps is an important detail, and it is disclosed in the property description and in the photos, though we've shared your point about its placement with the team so future guests can weigh it clearly before booking. We're genuinely glad the boathouse itself and the location won you over.

Our stay at Lake Lure was incredible! We caught so many fish from the house, bought floats to float and swim all day, grilled out for dinner and soaked up all of the lake life we could! A big bear even came by the house, plopped down to drink some lake water, and went on his way. There are a lot of stairs to and from the home to your car, but they are worth it! We had 3 of us stay here, two adults and one child, and it was perfect!

Thank you for such a wonderful review! It sounds like you soaked up every bit of lake life, from catching fish right off the house to floating and grilling out, and how special that a bear stopped by for a drink and went on his way. Those stairs really do reward you with something worth every step, and we're so glad the space was just right for your family of three. We'd love to have you back for more lake days whenever you're ready.
