We had a wonderful stay at this property. The home was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped for our family. We especially enjoyed the peaceful surroundings and the relaxing atmosphere, which made it a perfect getaway. The check-in process was smooth, and the host was responsive and helpful throughout our stay. Everything was as described, and we would gladly stay here again and recommend it to others looking for a relaxing retreat.
We loved our stay! The space accommodated three generations of family so well. The grandkids had a bedroom to share and space to play. The beds were so comfy and we loved the communal spaces to chat, share meals, watch movies and sit by the river. Our host was helpful before and during our stay, answering all questions promptly. We are already planning when we can come back!

About the host
Hosted by Brendan M.
I'm Brendan, and I help run a portfolio of vacation rentals across Northern Michigan under MiNorthStays. I'm local, hands-on, and easy to reach — you'll always be communicating with me directly, not a call center.
I'm a details person by profession and by habit. Properties are inspected before every stay, and I try to anticipate what guests need before they have to ask. My goal is simple: you show up, everything works, and you leave wanting to come back. The Honor property is one I'm proud of. There's nothing quite like the Platte River at night after a sauna session. Enjoy it.
Why they chose this property
The property sits at the end of a private dirt road in the heart of Honor, Michigan — tucked away enough to feel secluded, but walkable to the small-town charm Honor has to offer. Honor is a classic Northern Michigan town with a friendly, laid-back vibe — think local diners, a gas station, and the kind of place where people wave when they drive by.
Don't let the quiet fool you. The Platte River runs right through town, and world-class outdoor adventure is minutes in every direction. Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore is 15 minutes away, the Platte River canoe and kayak launches are just down the road, and the lakeside towns of Frankfort and Beulah — with great restaurants, shops, and Lake Michigan sunsets — are both within 20 minutes.
It's the best of both worlds: a peaceful, neighborhood setting with everything Northern Michigan has to offer right at your doorstep.
What makes this property unique
The Platte River is arguably the most underrated waterway in Michigan — it's the canoe/kayak corridor that empties into Lake Michigan through Sleeping Bear, and it's crystal clear and cold. The property sits directly on it. Sleeping Bear Dunes (one of the most-searched Michigan travel destinations nationally) is 15 minutes away. That combination — river on-site, dunes nearby, Frankfort/Beulah for dining — creates a full trip ecosystem within a 20-minute radius.
