Our "Haus Kristall" is located in the popular village of Scheffau at the foot of the Wilder Kaiser. With its many bedrooms and numerous bathrooms, it’s especially inviting for (extended) families or groups looking for a relaxing winter or summer holiday.
Upon entering the apartment, you’ll first find yourself in an open hallway that connects the living, sleeping, and dining areas. The cosy living room, where two additional guests can sleep on the sofa beds, features a fireplace and a Smart TV—here you can wind down the evenings in good company after a day of activities. Adjacent to this is an open kitchen area, which also houses the large dining table. The kitchen is well-equipped, so even those for whom cooking is an important part of their relaxation should find it satisfying. In addition, we have a permanently installed outdoor grill near the entrance to the house, which you are welcome to use. We’re happy to provide two high chairs or raised chairs for older toddlers.
The separate bedrooms each have a small bathroom with a shower and toilet—so coordinating bathroom use during your holiday at Haus Kristall should be no problem at all! Additionally, the balcony is accessible from several rooms, allowing you to enjoy the view of the mountains from there every now and then. We’re also happy to provide one or two wooden cots (60x120) upon request.
The apartment underwent extensive renovations in 2015—oak floorboards were installed throughout the entire floor, with the exception of the bathrooms.
For winter holidaymakers, a spacious ski storage room with plenty of boot dryers is available. A washing machine and dryer are also available—they are located in the building’s basement in a large laundry room reserved exclusively for our guests.
"Haus Kristall" is a 5-minute drive from the Scheffau valley station of the SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser–Brixental, one of Austria’s largest contiguous ski areas. A multiple award-winner, it offers skiing fun for both advanced skiers and families with young children. The village of Scheffau is also well connected to the valley station by ski buses. The nearest ski bus stop is less than 100 metres from Haus Kristall.
For your summer holiday, the region offers a wonderful network of hiking trails that stretch a total of nearly 700 km. Must-see destinations include Hintersteiner See, as well as numerous family-friendly attractions around the mountain stations in the immediate vicinity.
The tourist office and a highly recommended ski rental shop are located in the village, about a 5-minute walk away. Various dining options are also within walking distance. The Kaiserbäckerei, located in the lower part of town, offers a bread roll delivery service for those who’d prefer to skip the morning trip there.
The house, formerly run by nuns, is also ideal for retreats surrounded by nature. Please enquire in person for more information.
