About this property
Off-Grid Cabin w/ Meadow in White Mountains. 45m from Alpine near Black River
WELCOME TO THE CABIN Welcome! We offer a unique, 100% off-grid cabin experience 45 minutes outside of Alpine, AZ. Because we are remote and off-grid, guests must bring their own linens and completely clean the cabin before checkout. Please review our specific packing list, cleaning requirements, and rules below before booking to ensure this unique experience is a good fit for your group.
Our rustic, multi-level mountain cabin features a large wrap-around porch with stunning views of the surrounding valley, pastures, and pine trees—it is the perfect place to unplug!
BEDDING & TOWELS: Guests must supply all sheets, blankets, pillowcases, towels, and washcloths. No bedding is provided at the cabin.
THE "GUEST AS MAID" CLEANING AGREEMENT Because our cabin is remote, professional cleaning travel fees are exceptionally high ($350). To save you money, we pass the choice to you:
Option 1 (DIY Clean): Complete our thorough Pre-Departure Checklist (dishes, surfaces, bathroom, sweeping, and mopping) using the provided supplies for a $0 cleaning fee.
Option 2 (Pay the Fee): Skip the chores completely and pay the $350 professional fee.
Please message us your preference upon booking. Note: If you choose the DIY option but the cabin is not cleaned to the checklist standard, the $350 professional cleaning fee will be charged to your reservation.
WHAT YOU MUST BRING (PACKING CHECKLIST) Please review this list carefully before heading up the mountain, as the nearest stores are 45 minutes away in Alpine.
BEDDING & LINENS Sheets and pillowcases for your group size (see layout below) Blankets Bath towels, hand towels, and washcloths Bath rugs and mats (Note: Pillows are provided on-site for all beds)
WATER & FIREWOOD Drinking Water: The tap water is hauled-in well water. It is occasionally treated with chlorine and may not be suitable for drinking. Guests must bring all of their own drinking water (drink at your own risk).
Firewood: You must bring your own firewood if you plan to use the indoor wood-burning stove or outdoor firepit. Guests are also welcome to use any wood found on the ground around the property, but please do not use any wood stored on the porch.
Fire Restrictions: Always check local Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest fire restrictions completely before burning anything outside.
PAPER & PLASTIC GOODS Toilet paper (septic-safe only) Paper towels Trash bags and large garbage sacks Paper plates and cups (optional, to minimize dishwashing water) Plastic utensils (optional) Note: Normal kitchen dishes, silverware, and cooking dishes are provided.
KITCHEN & CLEANING SUPPLIES Dish soap Sponges and dishcloths Aluminum foil and Ziploc bags (Note: Cabin cleaning supplies are provided on-site for your checkout duties)
REQUIRED GUEST CLEANING & CHECKOUT DUTIES
Because we are fully off-grid and remote, guests are strictly required to clean the cabin and leave it in excellent condition before checking out. A full cleaning checkout list will be posted on-site in the cabin for your reference. Please ensure the following tasks are completed:
KITCHEN: Wash, dry, and put away all used dishes, silverware, and cookware. Wipe down the counters and the propane stove/oven. TRASH: All trash must be bagged and hauled out by the guest when checking out (pack-in, pack-out). No trash may be left inside or outside the cabin.
GENERAL TIDY & FLOORS: Sweep and mop all floors. Wipe down surfaces, clear out any dirt or tracks, and ensure the wood-burning stove is safely extinguished.
CLEANING TIME BUFFER: Check-out is strictly at 10:00 AM. Please give your group a 1 to 2-hour head start on the cleaning checklist before departure to ensure all required duties are fully completed.
CRITICAL OFF-GRID RULES Because this cabin runs entirely on solar power and hauled-in water, please review these critical system rules before booking:
NO CELL SERVICE & NO GUARANTEED WIFI: Due to our remote mountain location, there is generally no cell phone service at the property. While we may provide a satellite internet connection, connection speeds are limited, weather-dependent, and Wi-Fi is absolutely not guaranteed. Please plan to be unplugged and download any maps or check-in instructions before heading up.
NO HIGH-WATTAGE APPLIANCES: High-wattage electric heating elements (hairdryers, curling irons, electric coffee makers, or microwaves) will trip the system and are strictly prohibited. The solar power is perfect for lights and charging phones or laptops.
WATER CONSERVATION: All water is hauled in and gravity-fed or pumped. Water conservation is strictly required.
SEPTIC SYSTEM CARE: The toilet functions normally, but absolutely nothing except toilet paper can be flushed down the septic system.
HEATING & COOLING: There is no AC. We provide a few fans to help circulate the air, and summer days are easily cooled naturally by opening the windows to enjoy the mountain breeze at our high elevation. For heat, a large indoor wood-burning stove is available.
BACKUP POWER: A backup generator is on-site for emergencies only and requires prior host permission to operate.
Utility Outages: Due to our remote location, weather or other conditions may cause power or water outages that cannot be immediately restored. You are booking an off-grid experience; refunds are not issued fo utility disruptions. Please plan and pack accordingly.
