The Space:

More than 2,300 square feet unfolds across two stories in this three-bedroom, two-and-a-half-bath home for six. The vaulted living area has a sofa and two armchairs, with panoramic ocean views that continue through the house. In the gourmet kitchen, granite counters, a four-seat island bar, and a dining table for four make meals easy. Head outside for ocean-view alfresco dining when the day calls for staying close.



Guest Access:

This Mele Kai home in Keaau offers a private entrance and its own patio for relaxing outdoors. Guests are close to the beach and can walk the lit path to the entrance at night with ease. In unit laundry and a full kitchen round out a comfortable, self contained stay near the coast.



The Neighborhood:

Keaau sits along the Big Island’s lush Puna Coast, south of Hilo, where rural roads pass rainforest, lava landscapes, and dramatic shoreline. A car is essential here, but it opens up a rewarding mix of coastal lookouts, black-sand beaches, and Hilo’s farmers market and local restaurants. Shipman Beach is nearby for turtle watching, while Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park makes a memorable day trip. This is a quieter, more rural part of the island for families who prefer sea cliffs and tropical greenery over a busy resort scene.



Getting Around:

Hilo International Airport is about 20 minutes away, a quick and easy drive. A rental car is recommended for reaching the Puna coast's beaches and Hilo's shopping and dining just down the road. Keaau itself is a small community with a modest walkable center, so most errands call for a short drive. Parking is generally simple and available on site.
