About the host
Hosted by Sarah Holland
My name is Sarah Holland. I married my husband Jeff in 1989. Magnolia House is where we raised our three children. We built the home in 1998. It was our dream home. Many children were raised in this home as I ran a successful preschool for around 28 years. Lots of tiny pitter patters on the floors, giggles, and shenanigans have filled these walls. My husband is a retired fire captain with Huntsville Fire & Rescue. We moved to my mother's house to take care of her last year and built her a little house next to us. We didn't want to leave our beloved house sitting empty so we are venturing out and wanting to share our beautiful home with you. We hope you will fill the love when you enter that we always feel every time we step inside. We were both raised here in the Big Cove community. We have watched so much development through the years. Huntsville, Alabama now has the largest footprint in all of Alabama. You will love our location rather you are a hiker, fisherman, golfer, history buff, lover of space, shopper, or just a person needing a cozy place to relax and unwind all day. This is what our home offers you. When you stay with us and you go on our You Tube app you will see we have a Magnolia House profile waiting for you to explore all things Alabama. We also have local news and weather subscriptions on the channel so you can keep up with all the weather and news while you are here. We love our beautiful community and to be honest most people move here after visiting our area. in our office you will find all the fun things you can do in our area and also see some Huntsville history. You will find a business card on the shelf of our office library for little store called Alabama Goods. This is where you will find all things local and handcrafted by locals. if you want to take home memories of your trip its a must.
Why they chose this property
This neighborhood is where me and my husband grew up. We spent many nights chasing fireflies and many days just enjoying the country life. It was the most wonderful place to grow up. We still reside in this area to this day. It used to be all farm land and you knew everyone who drove by. That has all passed away but the one thing that has stayed consistent is the Southern hospitality. You will get Hey Ya'll and Darling and Hun'd more than you can count. If your car should break down someone will most likely stop to help before you can call a wrecker. You will hear people talk about Jesus and God and the love of our country. You will hear Hunting and fishing tales being swapped and if you stay long enough someone might fix you some Southern fixin's like Banana pudding or Homemade biscuits. Life in Alabama is slow paced and people will wave and want to talk to you like they knew you their whole life. Don't get me wrong Huntsville is a melting pot of wonderful people from all over the world. That is what makes our City so unique! You will know your true Southerner's by their accent and you will get a yes ma'am or no sir real quick. All in all you will love the people here and all the fun things we have to offer.
What makes this property unique
Our property is unique because you can see the Aplachian Foothills all around you. We have a beautiful spring filled pond for you to enjoy viewing. (Though it is off limits to guests for anything else) This property was historically named Grayson Springs. It was discovered by one of Big Cove's early settlers (Dr .Grayson) that many springs lay below our feet in this area. The city of Huntsville is actually built above several underground cave systems. We are rich in history and beauty here. If you want to see our famous spring area you will need to go see Big Spring Park in Huntsville. Cotton bales once floated down the big spring canal many years ago and many a baptizing's were also held in that water. You can see many of the vintage Old Huntsville photo's in our office area of the home. We are also known for our Space & Rocket Center many people travel from all over the world just to see it. We have many museums and lots of activities year round to enjoy. Guntersville is just a piece down the road for some great fishing. Robert Trent Jones Golf Course is what transformed this little country place into the bustling area it has become. so if you love golf it is a must! You can still get that country atmosphere while staying at our sweet home though. It is filled with loving neighbors and is a very safe area to visit. It's still my home away from home and I hope you will feel the same. Thank you for staying with us!
