About this property

Sunset Skiff, historic lakefront cabin

Listing summary

Wake to Lake Puckaway views at Sunset Skiff, a restored two-bedroom cabin at the former Winther’s Resort. The cabin sleeps four in two queen bedrooms and includes a full kitchen, one bathroom with a stand-up shower, and a private deck with chairs. Spend the day fishing or boating, then gather at the shared shoreline, dock, or fire pit. Classic boat art from the original resort adds a sense of place to this easygoing Wisconsin lake escape.

The space

Sunset Skiff is a compact, comfortable lake cabin designed for up to four guests. Two private bedrooms each have a queen bed, and the full bathroom has a stand-up shower. The kitchen is equipped for everyday meals, while the living and dining areas offer a relaxed place to recharge after a day on the water.

The private deck and its chairs belong exclusively to this cabin, giving you an outdoor spot for morning coffee and evening light. Beyond the deck, the shoreline, dock, and fire pit are shared with guests from the other cabins on the property.

The cabin’s name comes from its classic boating artwork, including framed pieces connected to the original Winther’s Resort. The result is simple and unfussy: a refreshed stay that still feels rooted in Lake Puckaway’s long fishing-resort tradition.

Guest access

Guests have private use of the entire Sunset Skiff cabin, including both bedrooms, the bathroom, kitchen, living and dining areas, and the furnished deck. The shoreline, fire pit, and dock are shared with guests staying in the other cabins. Free on-site parking and boat-trailer parking are available with advance notice.

There is no boat ramp on the property; the public Marquette boat ramp is less than a block away. Pier access is in a shallow private bay, and docking is at your own risk. Please message us before arrival if you plan to bring a boat or trailer so we can share parking and docking guidance.

Neighborhood overview

Sunset Skiff sits in the small lakeside village of Marquette, where Lake Puckaway, open farmland, and surrounding marshes set an unhurried pace.

Tucked Away Bar & Grill is next door. Fuel, ice, diner fare, and basic provisions are about 10 minutes away at BP/Wayside, while the nearest full grocery shopping is in Markesan.

Princeton is about 15–20 minutes away for Saturday flea-market mornings, antiques, bakeries, independent shops, and Fox River scenery. Green Lake is about 22–30 minutes away for supper clubs, golf, waterfront dining, and conservancy trails.

The wider area is known for fishing, boating, paddling, birdwatching, hunting, country drives, and memorable sunrises and sunsets.

Feel free to ask us for recommendations.

Getting around

A car is strongly recommended. This is rural lake country, and groceries, guides, restaurants, and most attractions require a short drive.

Free on-site parking is available. Guests bringing a boat or trailer must contact us in advance for parking instructions. The Marquette public boat ramp is less than a block away, making lake access convenient.

Other things to note

Sunset Skiff is one of several cabins and structures on the property. The cabin and furnished deck are private; the shoreline, dock, and fire pit are shared.

Some structures are undergoing renovation. No work will take place during your stay, but closed areas are sectioned off for safety and must not be entered.

This is a waterfront setting near woods and marshland, so bugs, spiders, and mosquitoes are normal despite careful cleaning.

There are no closets; coat hooks and bedroom nightstands provide storage. Please leave muddy or sporting boots outside.

In the smaller bedroom near the bathroom, a crawl-space access panel beneath the nightstand on the left side of the bed creates a slightly uneven area of flooring.

The bay and lake are shallow. Docking is at your own risk. Contact us before arrival if you plan to bring a boat or trailer.

The nearest convenience store, fuel stop, and diner are approximately 10 minutes away.
