Historic building, near Lake Ammer, Lake Starnberg, Allgäu, mountains, Neuschwanstein
The holiday home is the right half of the former school building, which was built in 1818 by Count Schenk, the then-owner of Unterdießen Castle. On the ground floor, there is a 60-square-meter living/sleeping area with a height of nearly 4 metres, featuring a masonry heater, direct access to the garden, and sleeping accommodation for 2–4 people. In addition, a shower room is available for my guests. Together with a small kitchenette, the ground floor is also ideal for seminars and other events, during which participants can stay overnight in the loft above. The loft apartment starting on the ground floor (see also separate listing) offers 120 square metres of living and sleeping space across various levels, accommodating up to 10 people. In addition, since June 2023, the garden has featured a living cube with its own toilet and shower and a fold-out bed for 1–2 people, which can be rented as an add-on or on its own. The garden cube is also ideal for meditation, treatments (see separate listings on my website), or simply as a retreat. The loft can also be rented on its own (without the ground floor; see separate listing) and/or together with the garden cube. In total, sleeping accommodation for 14 to a maximum of 16 people are available to my guests. If you’re interested, I’d be happy to provide you with a customised package quote. Pure peace and relaxation; art and culture in the immediate vicinity and in the Pfaffenwinkel region; Lake Ammersee and Lake Starnberg, the mountains, Munich and Augsburg, Neuschwanstein Castle, many historic old towns, amusement parks, etc., are all within easy driving distance. And afterwards, enjoy a cosy evening in the garden with a barbecue and fire pit, or by the Swedish stove playing board games with your family. The Via Claudia residence is located 10 km from Landsberg am Lech in Unterdießen, a village on the Romantic Road as well as on the historic Via Claudia Augusta—today an excellently developed and organised cycling trail stretching over 700 km from Donauwörth to Veneto. We are located in Upper Bavaria, between the Loisach and Lech rivers, south of Lake Starnberg and Lake Ammer, on the edge of the picturesque Pfaffenwinkel region with its numerous Baroque churches, monasteries, and historic small towns, as well as its magnificent view of the Alpine foothills. The charm of “Upper Bavarian Tuscany” is evident everywhere. The Wiesbach River winds its way picturesquely through Unterdießen, and the Lech River is only 4 km away. The Gothic parish church, the castle, picturesque houses, and the nearby forest make up the immediate surroundings. There is a bakery in town (200 m); an inn with a lovely beer garden (100 m); and numerous good restaurants in the immediate vicinity.
Unterdießen lies at the crossroads of four of Bavaria’s most beautiful regions: the Allgäu with its stunning landscapes, mountains, and lakes; Bavarian Swabia with its wealth of cities and monasteries; the Five Lakes Region with its lush and prosperous recreational landscape; and the Pfaffenwinkel with some of Germany’s most beautiful churches. Munich, Augsburg, Füssen, and Garmisch-Partenkirchen, as well as Lake Ammer, Lake Starnberg, and the Alps, are all just a short drive away.
Just as colourful as the political landscape of the Holy Roman Empire was, so too is the range of cultural and recreational experiences around Unterdießen today: hundreds of churches and monasteries worth visiting, old imperial cities and abbeys, dozens of museums, entertainment and recreational venues, lakes, and mountains come together to create one of the most beautiful recreational areas in Central Europe.
Concert series in Ottobeuren, Irsee, the Wieskirche, and many other locations, ensemble theatre in Augsburg and Memmingen, folk festivals, farmers’ markets, and Christmas markets provide a diverse array of activities.

A lovely Christmas get together with family from all parts of Germany and UK. The uniqueness of the house worked well for our short stay, largely open plan with mezzanines. Our hostess was great - friendly, informative and welcoming. We would recommend for any close family.Visits to Augsburg, Landsberg and Garmisch-Partenkirchen, and lots of snow too!
Absolut empfehlenswert.
