About this property
Peak a View - Lux Cabin w Tri-State VIEWS at 4,200 Feet!
Welcome to Peak a View, a mountain cabin perched at 4,200 feet inside the gated Lodges at Eagles Nest, just outside Banner Elk in North Carolina's High Country.
THE VIEW - The reason this home is named what it is. From the covered deck the ridgelines fall away across three states, with a quiet valley and a creek running below. It's a sunrise-with-coffee kind of deck, and an evening-glass-of-wine kind of deck, and the view holds up in every season - green in summer, gold and crimson in October, blue and bare in the snow.
THE HOME - Open-plan and light, with plush seating gathered around a gas-log fireplace and a 55" smart TV. The kitchen is genuinely set up for cooking: granite counters, full appliances, a drip coffee maker, real cookware and dishware, and a bar that seats four for breakfast before the slopes. There's a separate dining area when the meal deserves one.
THE BEDROOMS - Two king ensuites, both on the main level, each with its own full bath and a 50" smart TV. One bath has a walk-in shower, the other a tiled tub-and-shower combo. A half bath off the living area keeps the traffic down, and there's a separate laundry room with a washer and dryer. A sofa bed in the living room brings the home to 6 guests.
OUTSIDE - The private hot tub sits on the ground level, down a set of exterior stairs from the deck - worth knowing before you head out in a robe on a cold night, and absolutely worth the trip. The fire pit area is where the s'mores happen. There's a gas grill on the covered deck, and mountain air that makes you want to eat every meal outdoors.
THE COMMUNITY - You're in the Camp Eagles Nest section, between the Great Camp and the North Pavilion, and it's a short walk to the playground, pickleball, and basketball courts. As a guest you have access to most of the Eagles Nest amenities: the Great Camp with its amphitheater and summer concert series, mini-golf, a ropes course and climbing tower, a 24/7 general store, Epic Chophouse, the Sportsman's Grille and dog park at North Pavilion, miles of hiking and biking on the Woodland Trail System, and the Eagles Nest Winery just up the mountain at 3.1 miles. Day passes at the winery run about $25 and it's 16-and-over except on Sundays.
GETTING AROUND - Beech Mountain Resort is 3.5 miles, Elk River Falls 7.4, Banner Elk Winery 8.7, Sugar Mountain 13.2, Grandfather Mountain 20.5, the Blue Ridge Parkway 20.6, and downtown Boone with App State 24.4. A car is a must up here, and from November through March you'll want AWD or 4WD - the roads are plowed, but they're steep and the elevation makes its own weather.
GOOD TO KNOW - Self check-in with a keypad code I'll send before you arrive. Free parking on site. Central and mini-split A/C plus heat. This is a NON SMOKING PROPERTY and the home isn't pet friendly. There's a Ring video doorbell at the front door for security - it records at the entry only, never inside. Eagles Nest is still growing, so you may hear construction somewhere in the community between 7am and 7pm Monday through Saturday. The Lodges at Eagles Nest charges an amenity fee for guest access to the community's facilities; it's collected with your reservation.
