Beautiful location; cozy cabin; safe environment; clean, well-maintained site; lots of amenities for families; pet-friendly. Cabin lacked a personal touch; lacked information about amenities in the area; kitchen needs updated equipment. The community is peaceful and has stunning views. Our stay was most enjoyable and relaxing.

The cabin was small and cozy, we loved using the fireplace and fire pit. It was perfect for a long weekend trip. A couple of things that would have been nice: first, the listing says it sleeps 5…the photos show a bunk bed, which would have been perfect for my two teens (a boy and a girl), but we found that the top bunk was very unstable. We learned from the host that the top bunk was unusable for anyone over 100 lbs so someone had to sleep on the sofa (which was not a sofa bed…just a sofa) . So - just keep in mind that unless they fix the bunk bed situation, the cabin really would only sleep 4 unless you had a small child (king bed in master, double bottom bunk bed in second bedroom). Additionally, taking the trash to a dumpster on the way out was a bit more difficult than we anticipated. While someone who knows Eagles Nest better might not have any trouble finding it, for our family (who had never been there before), it was a not an easy thing to find, despite the instructions. Plan ahead to locate the dumpster before you are ready to leave. :)All in all, it was a small, cozy cabin in a very beautiful area with lots of neighborhood amenities.

Excellent Location and cozy cabin!

We absolutely loved the location and cozy feel of this cabin. We brought our Australian Labradoodle who absolutely loved the side yard to run and play with his frisbee. The bed was extremely comfortable.. Views were amazing! We enjoyed taking walks through the neighborhoods and exploring Eagles Nest!

Banner Elk Cabin

A wonderful "cabin" in a really nice gated resort. We had a memorable trip and communication with the owners was prompt and helpful. One drawback was a large amount of ceaseless construction. Overall , a very nice place, well equipped, in a beautiful area.

2 week work/vacation

Eagles nest is a beautiful community. There were so many deer in the yard everyday. We enjoyed hiking and exploring the trails. The winery was beautiful and the staff so friendly! Very close to all the fun stuff, skiing, coaster, wineries, atv tours, and antiquing.

Perfect Short Getaway!

Such a cute cozy cabin! Very clean. Detailed instructions on hot tub, getting in the cabin, etc. It is quite a hike up the mountain to get to it. Highly recommend arriving in the daytime. We went for a short ski trip with our teens but the mountain looks to have great amenities and things to do in and of itself. We would definitely consider going back.

Clean. Well stocked kitchen for cooking. Pretty location at a Community with lots of Amenities. Do not recommend for more than two adults (with or without children). Windows do not lock; anyone can enter cabin. Structural issue: bottom of panes need to be cut down.

Quality time for our family

This week has been such a blessing for our family. We enjoyed so much quality time with each other. We hiked, rode ATV’s, played volleyball, tennis, billiards, watched movies, climbed the ropes tower, and spent each evening in the jacuzzi. The view from the porch is gorgeous, especially for the price. The kitchen is well-stocked, although no dishwasher. The only thing that we would have improved was the shower head had very little pressure and the water in the shower/tub did not drain properly and probably just needs a good cleaning. Other than that we definitely recommend this house. We plan on coming back next summer to enjoy the weather in the 70s!

Decent but lacking in comforts

The king size bed had visible depressions and humps. The mattress was so bad that anyone, especially someone who already has chronic back pain (me) is going to have trouble sleeping and risk injuring themselves the next day. There was no comforter on the king bed either- only a paper thin cover and an extra blanket. We had to crank up the heat just to keep from freezing in the bed. There were several light fixtures with dead bulbs, and the secondary bedroom’s overhead light randomly cuts off. The bathroom is very small and can be a bit tight for family use. The hot tub was a plus, but the jets do not work at all and it does not maintain the set temperature. The neighborhood and amenities are decent. The kitchen is fairly equipped. Overall this is a good budget option but there is nothing luxurious.

Very clean cabin

While the cabin is compact, it has all you need: well-stocked kitchen, a stackable washer/dryer that came in handy to wash our ski clothes each night, great water pressure in the shower, and a hot tub. My husband and children reported the twin beds were hard and not comfortable, but the king bed in the other bedroom was super comfy. The detailed directions sent upon booking are a MUST to follow to find the cabin...get your odometer ready. And they are not kidding about needing a 4WD vehicle because you have to climb to the top of the mountain and back down a little before arriving at the cabin; parts of the climb and descent are steep. Don't let the distance to Beech Mountain that is listed fool you....the short distance that's listed is if you travel over some sketchy roads and paths that sounded dangerous in the description that was sent via email after booking. We opted for the safest path and it took about 20-25 minutes by the time you rode down the mountain to the neighborhood entrance and then on to Beech Mountain. The neighborhood is beautiful and we enjoyed seeing all the deer out and about. The cabin was also super clean!!

Mountain Retreat Review

Overall we enjoyed our stay and loved the area. Our kids loved being able to hike and explore the community. We did have some snags with this rental…but nothing to completely deter us from the area. Once booked we began to receive several email containing rules, check in instructions, and more policies than were mentioned. Very strict rules on 1 towel per person (which isn’t ideal with a family of four for a property with a hot tub) so we had to wash towels after hot tub use before showering. That brings me to the hot tub…we are owners of one and know chemicals must be used. When we arrived the hot tub was green hued and had a gross smell. We used it once since that was the main reason we booked it but not again unfortunately. Upon arrival the home was 34* inside….after investigating I guess whoever stayed prior to use had some windows unlocked and a draft was coming from several windows, the fire place flue was left open as well. Which was hard to believe based off the very strict rules that were emailed out as far as check in and check out processes. Overall lots of little things that didn’t sit right but we did do the right thing and try to reach out to the property manager but haven’t revived any response from them since booking other than automated messages with rules and directives. Great house, but the extensive rules once booking was complete made us uncomfortable especially at the 1 trash bag and 1 roll of toilet paper rule with a family. The 1 towel made it tough so we did laundry a lot. Just wish it was a 5 out of 5. But like I said….we tried to contact owner. Otherwise…cute cabin great spot if you’re skiing!

Cute Cabin!

We enjoyed our stay at this cute cabin! It was definitely stressful trying to navigate the curvy mountain roads & the signage was not the best, since the cabin was 6 miles up the mountain (about a 15 min ride). Overall a great place to stay!

It Has Good Bones

This little cabin could have a ton of charm. But there are a few things that should be addressed and that you don’t see in pics. The door used to enter the cabin does not stay closed unless it is locked. Blinds in the living area are broken and missing. Wires, cords and extension outlets hanging from tvs instead of being neatly tucked away. The second bedroom has no heat. It’s freezing. And the master bedroom mattress needs to go. Lumps, bumps and sinkholes. We were asked to remove ashes from the fireplace but not provided with a shovel with the fireplace set. The kitchen was fairly equipped. This place could use a little tlc. With that said, we had a quiet weekend and enjoyed all the outdoor things to do.
