You can also take day trips to the nearby mountains in Austria and Switzerland (a 1.5–2-hour drive), as well as to several cities and towns worth visiting around Lake Constance, all of which are just over an hour away: Lindau (island), Konstanz, Schaffhausen (Rhine Falls), Stein am Rhein, Mainau Island, and Reichenau Island...
